The other night hubby and I were looking for a movie to watch -- I try to watch something on Netflix of Amazon Prime but frequently end up spending $3.99-4.99 for a movie on Amazon -- I'd rather pay $2-3 more than have to deal with Redbox. Any ways, we rented Mad Max Fury Road -- I knew I really wouldn't like it -- it was my husband's turn to pick so it had to be a guy flick -- He was a big fan of the old Mad Max movies -- I at least enjoyed looking at a young Mel Gibson. -- Tom Hardy -- not so much. Even my husband agreed it was one of the worst movies he has seen in a long time. I at least got some myvegas play time --

It just seems the movies this year suck for the most part.

I liked it and admired it, but maybe it didn't deserve the movie critic ball washing. It was a unique montage of action imagery, like the movie's flame guitar dude playing in front of a sound system - it's so out there that I loved that.

Two movies that were imo classics: Inside Out. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

This year's movies aren't so bad, there were also a lot of well-above-average films this year like Ex Machina.

Ummm, I don't think the new Mad Max was that bad. It was pretty good actually. Imho the original Mad Max was pretty bad.

When it comes to movies anything goes when it comes to likes and dislikes. I'm pretty sure you were aware of it when you decided to start this thread.

Not as good as The Road Warrior, but I thought Fury Road was excellent. But I also think it is the kind of film you need to see on the big screen

    "Gravity" was like that...
Watching the blu-ray? 3 Stars out of 5.
Watching it on the big screen in 3D? 5 of 5....higher if I could! Only 3d movie I've ever seen where the 3d effects were so incredibly pivotal to the story...and simply amazing FX.

Same with Avatar: a revolutionary experience watching it in 3D and IMAX and "butt kicker" seats at a Jordan's Furniture theater for the first time, but not nearly as good even on a large HD TV. Avatar convinced me it was worth it to pay $20 to "experience" a certain type of action movie at a specialized theater.

I agree. Some movies just have to be seen on the big screen. Lawrence of Arabia springs to mind

Hmmm... love the Mad Max series but have not caught the new one yet. These are the first reviews I've seen.

I stand by opinion -- of course the old saying about opinions -- everyone has 'em. I could not get over the grotesqueness of it all. I didn't expect to like it. Now I have to think of what kind of ultimate chick flick torture I can subject my husband to -- it's my turn next to pick the movie.:evillaugh
