    My Trip Report

Heading to LV tonight for a long weekend stay with the hubby. We are about and hour and a half out from downtown as i type this. We are a married couple in our late 40's who are super low rollers who enjoy free rooms, gambling for fun, getting a deal and free drinks. We usually hit Vegas two to three times per year due to the proximity. We are about 5 hours away in California.

Spending the first night at the Downtown Grand on a comp with the next three nights at the SLS.

The impetus of the 3rd trip of this year was the SLS offer of three free nights and $75 in food which was offered for previous Sahara club members. We stayed at the Sahara a few times and enjoyed it. We like old school cheesy Vegas. I figure I better get a free visit in at the SLS before they call it quits.

Looking forward to Sigma Derby at the D, a visit to Jerry's Nugget, dinner at Ruth Chris, happy hour at Level 107 at The STRAT and pool time at the SLS. Will post from the Grand after we check in.

This will be a pretty tame and cheap trip report but I do enjoy reading everyone's reports so I am going to give it a go.

Checked into DG and given a room on the 17th floor in the casino tower.

Walked to Atomic Liqour. Downtown is hopping on a Thursday night. Freemont East bars are busy! Very safe walk to Atomic. Even the old Western was lit up even though they are closed. Oh the memories. Smokey and scary Western in the old days!

I didn't know they were doing this...so, do I just go to their website and punch in my old Sahara card #?
I would be willing to give SLS a try with an offer like that.

Topcard apparently they have the listing of old Sahara club members. I believe that is how they got my information. Either that or cross referenced my new SLS club membership with the old Sahara club listing

Day 2 - Is it ever a good idea to stay out until 5 a.m.? I think not. Requested a noon check out and up at 10 a.m. for breakfast at the Commissary. Glad I stopped drinking at 2 a.m. a few pictures from last night. [IMG][IMG]

Checked in at the SLS a little after noon and requested the World Tower. Here are pics of the room. 19th floor.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
Very nice amd odern in shades of cream, light pink and gray.

Headed to the pool and they were handing out entry tickets to the Foxtail pool. You can't take water in so we leave them in the room. There is nowhere to sit at Foxtail unless you pay for it. You can hang out in the pool but that's it. We left after 5 minutes and headed to the Lux pool on the third floor. Small but nice. Food and drink service.
Some cabanas that you have to pay for I believe but at least there are loungers that you don't have to pay for. Not a whole lot of shade though. Had some food and a bit of sun and headed back to the room.

Went to Level 107 at the Stratosphere for happy hour. Views were amazing! Mango Mash was excellent as was the cheese platter. Then went up one more level to the outdoor observation deck. Definitely worth the elevator ride.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

How did you like the Friends slot? I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Yes our drive was from Bakersfield area. I love the power mills. The Friends slot is only fun if it is hitting and my husband was getting lots of bonuses. The payouts are low though. Not what you would expect from a full screen. But if course isn't it always fun when you are hitting?

Last night SLS was rocking! Lots of people and a great band playing at the casino entrance. People were dancing at the entrance. Called it an early night as the lack of sleep the previous night did us in. Back at the room by 11. More on day 3 to come. Here are some pics from the SLS last night.[IMG]

Day 3 - starts off with breakfast at the North side Cafe. Great banana pancakes. Up to the Lux pool for an hour. Much better in the morning. Managed to grab shade for about an hour. Drinks are $18 each. None for me thanks.

Headed to Jerry's Nugget in North LV just passed the Neon Graveyard. Fun times playing .25 cent roulette. Made $55. Told you we were low rollers. Three Bloody Marys later we are headed to Container Park for hot dogs! Here's what we are looking at at 1:30 p.m.
