I have stayed at Orleans on comp offers many times and never paid a resort fee. I am going next week and reviewing my email confirmation, it says:

"Each room must be occupied by at least one individual over the age of 21 who will be required to present valid ID and a credit card to be authorized for the stay and any incidental charges. An additional $12.99 resort fee will be charged daily. "

Has anyone had to deal with this, will they waive it if I protest?

We have stayed at the Orleans many times on a comp and have never paid the resort fee. I hope you get the same treatment. I don't know if it has anything to do with 1 night or multiple night stays. We always stay at least 2 nights. Good Luck!

We're at the Orleans right now, and I am using the free WIFI. Nothing different at check-in. No resort fee charged.

I get comped 2 weekday nights each 6 months and never paid a resort fee.
I'm to go again in September and then in November. I get the same paperwork telling me I will owe the resort fee.
    So, we'll see I guess.

I've checked in and been told about the fee but it's always waived at checkout. I think they reserve the option to assess it on people who stiff them but otherwise it should be comped.

Good to hear. If they attempt to charge it, I'll ask for a host when I check out.

I've stayed on comp rooms 2 both GC and Orleans, and have never been charged the resort fee.
(and booking online using an offer, does say there is a resort fee though.)

Add my name to the list of those who have never been charged resort fees on comped nights at either GC or Orleans. Most recent experience was over May month end.

I'm in the same position. Comped room for 2 nights, but the confirmation says $12.99 resort fee. I'm thinking that they're just using the standard language in all their reservation confirmations. I'd be very surprised if they charge the resort fee.

The confirmations have mentioned the resort fee since the day the Orleans started charging them. You just never noticed it before. (I did way back when and called them immediately and was told it was standard language and to ignore it) So relax everyone. You will not be charged.
