    My Trip Report

I decided to take CET up on a nice offer to visit Horseshoe Tunica. Free airfare, free room, $300 food credit, $500 free play, and free tickets to Graceland, Gibson Guitar factory, and Sun Studios. I have never been to this part of the country, so my wife and I figured we'd give it a shot and hopefully try some good fried chicken and bbq while we're there.

Well, I cannot believe how BAD the video poker is at Horseshoe and also the other casinos in Tunica. I literally could not find anything worth playing at Horseshoe. They have no multi-hand VP games above the 25 cent level, and the pay tables on all of the games were really bad. Believe it or not, they have 2 single line VP machines in the high limit room where you can play at the $5, $10, or $25 level. The pay table for DDB at each of those levels was 8/5!!!!! Who the hell would play that??? Also, TDB was nowhere to be found on the entire property. I ended up just playing 25 cent DSTP and UltX but didn't hit squat. For the most part, I stayed away from the VP and played mostly $5 blackjack at 3:2 with my wife.

The only decent VP game I found was next door at Gold Strike, which had $1, 5-play TDB, with a shitty 9/5 pay table. Unfortunately, I didn't hit jack on that either!

Overall, a highly disappointing gaming experience in Tunica, I would never go back.

We did have some awesome fried chicken at the original Gus's, hot chicken at this other place was excellent, and very good ribs at Central BBQ in Memphis. Also hit up Beale St. one night, which was really fun, and the Graceland tour was very good too. Never got to Gibson or Sun Studios, oh well.

Sorry, no hand pays for me, so no VP porn to share! Peace :peace:

In the past, I have seen better paytables at the GS machines upstairs than those in their high limit

I go to Tunica pretty often, but I only play craps and they have good rules and lots of craps and crapless tables in tunica. Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself I had heard that they had bad vp pay tables.

Nearly every game king on the main floor (and bars!) has 9/6 DDB on the floor at horseshoe and tunica roadhouse at the $1 and $5 level. Gold strike also has two $1 9/6 DDB machines on the main floor, hard to find though. And 9/5 DDB with DSTP at the 50c level. Sorry you missed all this. You're right about multiline games though, they are mostly shitty in Tunica.

And remember VPFree2 is your friend, especially when I wrote half the tunica updates last year. Lol

I know, I just thought it was incredible that the $5/$10/$25 machines in the high limit room were 8/5!

Most of tunica is actually like that surprisingly. The only casino that offers 99%+ VP in a high limit area is Fitz. Harrahs used to until it closed. :(
