I am currently a gold member at cosmo and will not be able to retain my gold. My NYE plans were cancelled for vegas and I am pretty sad. I however have an impromptu trip to vegas planned and booked for 2 nights at the Wynn on a comp midweek which my wife got in the mail. I am debating whether or not to book the cosmo and my 275 free play for those 2 days instead. Since this is an impromptu trip my bankroll is roughly 1500 dollars and that may not generate much coin thru at the cosmo. I however wonder if no play for say 15 months as I was last there in March is worst that low playing? I am currently getting 4 nights anytime from them with 275 in free play. What are peoples opinions on the impact of offers. I know my host will give me 4 nights but what is saying she will be there next year and for all I know with the new buy out the comp game could change. What is the best strategic decision? I am also never gonna use my 2 free companion or gold nights.

If there's no Free Play attached to the Wynn, if it were me, I'd stay at the Cosmo with the $275 in Free Play. Despite your bankroll, it will keep you on the Cosmo's radar and their offers should still come your way.

I was dealing with the same dilemma at Cosmo.

I'm booked to stay at V/P in a couple days, but have an offer at Cosmo though I haven't stayed/played at Cosmo since last year. I called the Identity desk, and they confirmed on the phone that they WILL release the slot freeplay without a stay. If I were you, I'd still go stay at the Wynn if you want to try it out, but I'd head to Cosmo and play your freeplay through. My rationale is that just not using the offers, they will eventually dry up, and all the previous play/THEO was all for nothing anyway. Cosmo will at least see that you are in Vegas, not choosing to stay there however and may continue extending offers? You will either lose/give back the freeplay which doesn't hurt Cosmo since you aren't using up free rooms etc, or, you will win and can put more coin through with them. In that case you are getting play towards offers anyhow.

Many have commented in the past that it took a long time for Cosmo to catch up on the low playing WITH a room being booked but can't say for sure.

    Good luck!

I would to agree with this. Wynn is nice, but based on other comments here, they go after higher end players. If you are happy at Cosmo, then stay there. If you are looking to make a change, take free room there and FP, but venture to another casino for actual play and move on.

Key part of this is that the Wynn offer came for your wife. If she will gamble enough on her own to keep Wynn, then by all means go for Cosmo.

What portion of your normal daily Cosmo play does your bankroll for your upcoming trip represent?

If you are getting offers for 4 nights anytime plus $275 freeplay, your normal bankroll must be pretty significant.

My opinion is that it would be much worse to go stay at Cosmo and significantly low play them. Your offers will go down. I don't think anybody knows how long it takes Cosmo to stop sending offers, but I'd be shocked if it's any less than 2 or 3 years. I haven't stayed at V/P in 6 years and I still get comp offers from them.

If you skip Cosmo and for some reason you stop getting marketing offers, it won't be because of your play. Next time you want to stay there you call them up and say I haven't gotten an offer recently, but I want to make a trip - they look at your last trip and it's at the 4 night $275 freeplay level. Losing Gold level does mean you'll give up the Tier-based comp nights, but your past play determines marketing-based comps.

Lower than normal average daily play, with or without staying there, is worse than no stay/no play.

Staying on a comp and low playing is worse (because you can conceivably end up with a "negative comp balance") than not staying and just popping in and low playing, but low playing is bad anyway. At least if you're in the bottom 80% of players which most of us are.

Of course total number of days factors in too. If you played somewhere 10 nights at a high level, and pop in one day and low play, it may not ding your 11 day average enough to put you into a lower comp level.

My usual bankroll is around 3-5k and I am only bringing 1500. I am not worried about low playing the Wynn as it is under my wifes name and she never gets offers from there and we are not in their normal mailings. I just feel stupid for earning gold last trip and not using my Free nights/FP or 2x point action. I however think Chuck is on to something when he says even if the offers dry up my theoretical didn't change so the host should help me out.

*Note my FP just dropped from 275 to 150(Oct-Nov offer)

I can attest it took almost 2 years of low play at Cosmo to go from circa 750 in FP to around 100, prior to being a regular. It seems their computer is very slow and forgiving

I'm presently at 2 nights and between 90-$180 in fp. Low play was giving away room to friends and just using free play at the worst to maybe some green chip and penny action, but certainly not living up to historical (used to be more of HL slot and black-purple chip player). I have nothing against Cosmo, but just got kinda bored. The energy on the casino floor seems much improved now and I miss it a little so I may pop in and even play soon!
