....... all energy to him and his family...... I bet motor sports and am very sad to see any injury. I saw the wreck live on television, it looked bad from the get go. Not sure what else to say, just hope he makes it. Rusty
Wilson has passed. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nascar-from-the-marbles/indycar-driver-justin-wilson-dies-from-head-injury-at-pocono-011012288.html Saw the race as well. It did look bad. It's always so scary to see the safety crew get panicked when they first find a driver they know is in bad shape. RIP Justin Wilson. My thoughts are with his family.
Ohhhhh.....so sad.....it was such a nasty impact. I could tell, as you did, from the emergency crew response. Have seen that before.
So many safety improvements over the years, but auto-racing in any format remains a very dangerous sport.
Very sad day for the motorsports brotherbood. Always in your head when I am out there driving on the track. Even during non wheel to wheel racing. There is always lots of risk with how fast the cars of today are.
I always liked Wilson, he made a name for himself in the '90s in the UK for running a crowdfunding scheme (before that was even the word for it) to pay for an F1 entry. I believe all his backers turned a (modest) profit in the end.
I still cannot believe that. It breaks my heart. After Dan Wheldon passed away, Which, I'm still not over, that was a tough race to be at and witness, They made a lot of safety changes. This was so awful. Im still just in complete shock. I am a huge Indycar fan and this just sucks. JW was so nice and such a great person, Im just at a loss.
I initially didn't think it looked that bad. Until you saw the nose cone ricochet way up in the air. He even braked before hitting the wall so I figured he would be okay. But once I saw the safety workers and announcers reactions, I knew it wouldn't be good. RIP and condolences to his family.
Sad ending, I'm still dealing with our home town hero Greg Moore, so many years ago. I was impressed at the TV coverage not zooming in on the crew extricating Wilson from the car. Thoughts, and prayers to all affected.
After witnessing Dan Wheldon at Las Vegas, you could tell there was something seriously wrong by looking at the safety crew and the way they were responding. Husband and I both said that watching how they were with Justin Wilson, it reminded us of that & we knew something wasnt right. It is so sad.
I found out last night from my friend..he'd just spoken with his wife (and mom I believe) he seemed really low after that phone call I haven't been to the track or ridden a motorcycle even in a few years....that might be a good thing
