    My Trip Report

I enjoy reading all of the trip reports here and decided to try to contribute also. This is a solo trip for me!

This trip is off to a rocky start so far as I am live from the Hyatt Airport in Orlando instead of live from Bellagio:thumbsdown:

My flight was supposed to leave at 5:30, connect through Atlanta and arrive in Vegas at 10:00...weather delays kicked in, then weather got worse, then the flight crew was at their work hour limit and after four hours on the runway, we wound up back at the gate. During this time, it became clear that I wasn't getting out of here so I called delta and got backup flight scheduled for tomorrow morning and booked hotel room at the airport so I don't have to go home and return here at 6:30 am...

On a positive note, the last time something like this happened on my way to vegas - I has a crazy winning trip with multiple hand pays so I'm hoping for a repeat of that!

Loose plans for trip are pedicure, facial, lots of gambling (I like everything - slots, cards, craps, roulette and horses). May eat at Lago again, possible field trip to Cosmo/aria and hopefully winning the tournament.

Just had a win! I just got my room service pizza and glass of Chardonnay and knocked the wine over with my pizza box...seriously. So I decided to just order another one fully intending to pay for it and they just brought it up and gave it to me since I mentioned the spill! Things are turning around!

I will try to post updates and a few pictures...maybe I will turn into another tapatalkaholic!

    Kathy

Here's hoping the rough start and delay is a sign that in Vegas your luck will be complete opposite!! Good luck in the tournament and I look forward to the updates!!!

You did contact Bellagio I hope to let them know. We had a big delay once because Vegas airport was closed and they gave up our room. We got stuck in a shitty room for the first night.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! I did call last night to make sure my reservation was changed to today. I texted my host yesterday since I will be cutting it close for tournament registration and all should be taken care of!

    Should land around 11:15.

I have to take a very early flight in October and was toying with the idea of staying at the airport hotel so this delay let me try that out and I'll definitely do that for that very early flight.

Will update once I get to the hotel.

This post is a miracle for two reasons:

    1. My very first Tapatalk post.
    2. I dropped my phone in the basin filled with water while getting a pedicure this afternoon. Not sure how, but it works fine after being completely submerged.

No pictures of big wins yet as I haven't played much...was running around with tournament, pedicure , unpacking etc..

The tournament sessions were mixed. First session was average with a score of 9,021. Second session was great with score of 15,273.

This tournament is different as each group has a winner so a one in 50 chance of winning $20,000, plus entry to grand finale. Need a good session tomorrow!

Relaxing in room for a while and dinner may be sensi or lago...really depends on which has space at the bar!

Hopefully will have some winning pictures to post later.

Kathy, looks like you still have a shot. Sorry I'm not there with you this year, perhaps next time. Good luck tomorrow, hope to hear you got a huge score in the tournament and also are winning in the casino!

    Hello Diana

Yes I hope to be out again sometime when you are here. Sadly my morning session was half of my great session (7,400)...so I think I'm out of contention...maybe my wild card drawing will come through.

Quick update plus a shout out to the people who post a lot of live updates...this is hard! many thanks to packer, pphold, beejay, dvandentop and many others!

Sorry no pictures yet... Had a few small wins yesterday and have to brush up on how to post them. Nothing was large enough to make me drop everything to post the picture!

When I checked in my safe was locked from previous guest and security came up with an engineer and sure enough someone left a ziplock bag of jewelry in there. Just to let you know how they handle this, they call for another security person who comes up wth a camera and they photograph the contents of the safe along with lifting the lining to make sure everything is out. They then file a report and i'm sure research contact info for previous guest. I did this once and realized at the airport that I left credit cards in safe...they handled fed express back to me.

Dinner last night was at lago...had blue cheese gnocchi, 4oz tenderloin and a gelato dessert with an espresso and patron XO dessert drink. Very good!

I played a variety of slots and had a few good hits. Won the late pick 4 at del mar yesterday (275 ish) and will be handicapping later for pacific classic today,

Had a facial this morning and just showered and ready to hit the casino!

Ouch, sorry Kathy, I agree you are out of contention for one of the top awards but I hope the wild card drawing comes through for you. Glad you are having some good wins in the casino and had a great dinner at Lago!

Just to finish what I started...going to try to wrap up this report,

    Tournament

Not sure of my final placing but I wound up with $100.00 of free play. Not great for a $500.00 buy in. I don't think I would do this particular format again and would stay with the property specific tournaments as the free play for the consolation prize is usually higher than $100. I miss the good old days when these tournaments were free!

    Gambling - Slots and V/P

Best hit was four aces with 3 times multiplier on ultimate X DDB. Only one other time did I get quads with a multiplier.

I played Gremlins at Aria Saturday evening and had so much fun...I had to look up when this movie came out (1984)- wow I was only 20! This slot was a lot of fun with many random bonuses. Best hit was around 210.00 when the lady gremlin blows kisses that turn into wild symbols.

I had a few bonus hits on $5.00 top dollar and Pinball but these were all of the $200.00 bonus variety that just keep you playing a bit longer.

Nothing else stands out to me a week back in the real world other than my former ATM bier haus machine is now a money pit. It was tight tight tight:(

    Gambling - Tables

I played 4 card poker Friday night and couldn't hit anything. I played 3 card Saturday night for a while and then moved to 4 card when a slot opened up. I had some nice saves from the six card bonus on 3 card (at least 2 full house hits for 25x bet).

The 4 card table was a lot of fun with fun people at the table. Me, a couple from Canada, a man from Oklahoma and a man from Mexico. Our Mexican friend was a tequila connoisseur and made a list for my tablemates of the very top of the line tequlia brands and came back a few times with samples from the bar. Probably was down $100 overall and played for around 4 hours between the two tables.

    Food

Dinner Friday was at Lago and was very good. They just recently opened for lunch so am looking forward to lunch there next trip. I don't know if it is the same menu.

Saturday I ate at Julian Serrano and had two dishes I've had before (creamy risotto and ribeye) and added a new dish that was outside my normal repertoire. The new dish was fried shrimp that comes with some type of pepper. The first one was crazy hot and the other ones were not nearly as hot. It was good - I'd have it again. I rarely order shrimp but this was quite tasty!

I had a quick sandwich from snacks by bellagio sports book also. I've always liked anything I've had here.

    Odd Situation

On my 57 minute flight from Salt lake to Vegas on Friday morning, I slept for a good portion of the flight but the man next to me started talking to me when I woke up. He was telling me how he likes to watch the people in high limit room and was asked to leave by the person gambling thousands of dollars his last trip (the player actually asked the pit boss to get him out of there). I explained to him that most gamblers don't care for being watched whether they are betting $5.00 or $5,000. It happens and I don't mind for a short while, but when you can sense someone there it can be creepy. i told him I really consider gambling a very solitary activity and even though I don't speak for everyone, most people don't enjoy a "watcher".

He said he never looked at it that way before and thanked me for the perspective. He was also staying at bellagio so I wished him well on his trip and parted ways on the plane.

I ran into him about two hours later at the sports book and now he is completely wasted and wanting to buy me a drink, etc., etc. I was on my way to tournament thank goodness so escaped pretty quickly and then forgot about this as the night went on.

The next morning I'm in the elevator headed to the tournament and the elevator stops and here comes my seat mate from the plane again. Holy crap! I asked him how his show was the night before ( he told me on the plane he was coming to town for two different shows). I get this as a response "I can't talk about the show from last night. We have to talk about something more important which is the odds of you being on this elevator and on and on". At least the elevators move fast at Bellagio!

He was just a bit of an odd duck and VERY intense. I trust my gut with people and my gut said stay away.

    Conclusion

Overall I had a great time even though this was shorter than planned.

Sorry for delay in ending this but I went straight from the red eye Sunday night back to regular crazy work schedule.

Another huge thumbs up to all of the people who do the live trip reports! I don't know how you do it!
