    My Trip Report

Just got back from my first day trip to Caesars Atlantic City. In the past, I have always stayed overnight, but it's peak tourist season so they aren't offering comp rooms to me at the moment, plus my friend wanted to get into their system as a player. So, we decided to head down in the morning and make a day of it.

We got there around 10 am and my friend realized that they had forgotten their Total Rewards card, so we had to pick up a new one before we could do anything else. Then, we grabbed all our beach stuff from the car, walked through the casino across the Boardwalk to get to Caesars' beach. It's a pretty decent beach. It wasn't too crowded today, probably because everyone was gathered on the beach in front of Bally's for the Rascal Flatts concert, so we had our pick of spots to set up our umbrellas. We brought a cooler with some food and a ton of water. (No beers, though, because I didn't feel like I wanted to risk getting busted by the beach patrol and ruining our day.) We were beach bums all day until late afternoon, when we decided to pack it up and go back inside.

After stowing our gear back in the car, we headed to the Promotional Kiosk and I swiped my card for my mystery reward credit multiplier. I got 5X, which ain't bad. My friend got nothing because they weren't in the system yet. Ha! Sucks to be you! Then, we went to the comp kiosk and I printed out a comp buffet pass for two for us. We grabbed an early dinner at the buffet and stuffed ourselves to the point of feeling sick, because the food was free and we like to exploit every advantage we can possibly get. I swear I was literally seeing stars by the fourth plate.

After dinner, we headed to the non-smoking casino floor -- because Caesars AC has one -- and looked for their dollar slot machines. Believe it or not, Caesars AC has a better selection of dollar slots than Caesars Palace. No lie. I went to town on a Wild Africa machine that gave me good luck last time and my friend played a Cougar game, because it's more fun to play the Cougar than get played by her. I have no screenshots to show you, because I ended up making a large donation to the CET bankruptcy relief fund. My luck was really godawful today. Thank God for the reward credit multiplier, so I at least got something out of it.

By the way, Caesars Palace needs to introduce the touchscreens to order drinks that they have at Caesars AC. We were able to get our drinks within minutes today, while we never got any drinks at Caesars Palace. Drinks service is vastly superior in AC because of those machines. Plus, I can proudly confirm that Caesars AC now serves the entire bottle of beer when you order one instead of giving you a sad little 4 oz draft pour. That's a vast improvement.

After we made our donations to the cause, we went out to do some outlet shopping in the Tangers Outlets The Walk, which is only about a block away from Caesars. There are several city blocks of outlet stores and everything is very orderly and clean. We got some geeky stuff at the Hot Topic outlet and I bought some new shoes at Famous Footwear. I didn't buy as much as I usually do because I did so poorly on slots and I was feeling bitter.

Take all my money, well, screw you, Atlantic City! No, please, I'm sorry, baby. You know I just talk that way when I'm angry. Let me buy you something pretty. Like some Converse.

So that was pretty much how my day went. Oh, and I listened to Slash's album "World on Fire" on the drive home and I want to report that album kicks ass like anything GnR used to put out. It's awesome.

Sounds like the weather cooperated with you, I think the forecast was for rain in the afternoon.

As for beers on the beach, next time bring a couple of 16oz solo cups, or pack cans and a foam koozie, never had a problem.

Agreed, ordering drinks on the touch screen at Caesars, Ballys and Harrahs is pretty sweet, service is usually fast. We were down a couple of weeks ago and it seemed that Caesar's machines were not paying out, Mr. Cashman was a real tight ass. When hotel rates get crazy and we can't get a comp, we will compromise and stay offshore in Absecon. The Country Inn and suites and the Clarion are both pretty decent.

    Thanks for the TR.

As long as they are adequately staffed, the CET self-service ordering works pretty damn well in Tunica too. It's definitely better than the traditional Vegas system. Mainly hit bartops in Vegas for faster service...:rolleyes2: The order taker with the iPad at Rio and Linq seems to help too instead of the waitress taking both orders and drinks.

Hope your next trip goes better!

The posted price was $20 for gold players and $25 for non-players because of the concert. Platinum, of course, was free. They must have been having trouble with too many non-gamblers parking because they were checking for Total Rewards cards when cars were coming into the parking garage.
