Just logged into My Total Rewards and noticed the description on our reservation in 2016 has been changed.

When I booked and got the Confirmation it was:

    Res 5.15.JPG

    and now it states

    Res 8.15.JPG

After reading VMB I know I don't want the Roman Tower. Since I have the original confirmation saved, do you think that will help insure we get minimum Forum Tower? We are currently Platinum, but have earned the VIP card through the TR Credit Card.

They changed the room descriptions a couple of months ago. I would bet it is the same but you might call them.

I am not the one that changed the room descriptions, I was just letting you know what happened.

    I understand the consternation.

Caesars used to classify and price rooms by Tower.

Now they do it by room descriptions, and there are fewer of them (fewer different prices). Thus your reservation (to their system) has not changed. The Forum tower IS classic rooms, so every Forum reservation has become a classic room, and every Augustus has become a (Premium I think? I forget and site is down) room

But I would give them a call. The assumption on here (not confirmed) is that Classic is Forum or Roman, just as the top one is now Octavius or Augustus. There is a middle one that is Palace only. The reservation does not guarantee a tower it seems.

So call, and explain that when you booked the room you did it was because you liked that tower location, and that you expect your classic room to be within that Tower. Make sure the preference is specifically noted with the reservation just in case. Be calm and friendly about it, just make sure the expectation is noted. It should not be a problem. The name change is not about screwing over existing reservations, and its not a downgrade,

PS> My theory on Roman tower rooms is that they mostly filled those from booking sites anyway. When I used to book through the multi-property calendar, the default offering was Forum. You had to want Roman on purpose to book it.

you booked a free comped room you will get what they decide to give, its free otherwise pay for it. you are not guarented any room type on a comp you can be upgrade or downgraded depending on players pecking order.

to bad so sad , this has been talked about for years

It looks to me like in the past few days, they have changed the description of the Classic rooms so that:

Non-Smoking Classic rooms are in the Roman Tower
Smoking Classic rooms are in the Forum Tower.

When they originally changed the room types, all of the Classic rooms had descriptions and pics that matched Forum Tower only.

I find it hard to believe they'd actually do that, but if you look at the Classic non-smoking room square footage and pictures, those are Roman Tower rooms.

    Classic Room | 1 King | Non-Smoking
    Classic Room | 2 Doubles | Non-Smoking
These Classic rooms reflect the vision of Caesars Palace founder Jay Sarno when he created the legendary resort over 40 years ago. Conveniently located in the heart of the property and adjacent to the iconic Palace casino (the Roman Tower elevators are next to the so-called Palace Casino), these rooms combine modern touches with timeless elegance.
    Square Footage: 350-395
Tub/Shower: Tub Shower Combination (Forum Tower rooms don't have a tub)

    Classic Room | 1 King | Smoking
    Classic Room | 2 Queens | Smoking
Relax in our Classic rooms with some of our most sought after guest accommodations. LCD TVs, Anichini linens, and luxurious bathrooms with rain style showerheads are just a few of the thoughtful touches we've put into these rooms. A modern update to Caesars' style, these rooms are 475 square feet and feature two queen beds with a plush pillow top mattress.
    Square Footage: 475
    Tub/Shower: Walk-in Shower

That implies they are making Roman Tower all non-smoking and Forum Tower all smoking. I don't believe that, I think it's just an error.

If you call, you might ask that question. Calling 9 months in advance isn't going to have any effect one way or the other on what room type you get when you arrive. Assuming the new descriptions are out of whack, 99.9999% you get Forum Tower, especially arriving on a Monday, and Platinum status.

Well not all the nights are free for our stay so I guess now you are saying that I will not be getting what I booked and agreed to pay for?

Arriving on a Sunday. Will definitely be checking this out further. We chose Caesars based on what was offered us Forum Tower room.

As I said, just call and clarify expectations. You are well within your rights and your expectations are reasonable.

And looking at room descriptions online is an inexact science (I have recently found them incomplete or inaccurate for rooms at 2 other props). Reservations can clarify with you what rooms do and do not qualify as a classic non-smoking, whether that is available in the Forum tower, and whether you can specify.

My guess is if it is a room you can get in either tower they will not be able to "set" it at booking, but they can note a strong preference. And if they jerk you around you have tons of time to change.

PS> post back and tell us what they said. The room name change is new, so we are mostly guessing and going by pictures and blurbs and prices as to what rooms are where,

i was going by your post wich was 0.00 and yes you can get up grade and down graded depending on ocupancy just like renting a car.

doesnt matter what hotel you book. u might check in and all they have is smoking or 2 queen beds. they have disclaimers on all resevertions for every hotel around the world.

i think your freaking out way to early, you might wind up being up graded just with till you get there

i had the furum booked and when i got there they had already upgraded my to the augusts tower.

if all you want is 5 star hotel you should book the four seasons or mandarin oreintal or try wynn or v/p so you wont have a problem and its way to far out to worry about it.. problem solved

but this topic has been discussed all the time, just check in and see what happens , its only a bed to sleeep in.

also buy the time may comes ceasars might closed due to bankrupcy so that will solve you problem also.lol

@paperposter, what you are talking about is very different from the op's question.

Upgrades and downgrades at check-in can happen (although downgrades would be rare and with the right complaining you'd likely get something for it).

But his check in is months away. He has not been downgraded, he is just trying to confirm that he still has reserved what he thought he had. And that is wholly reasonable.

And calling to confirm and note his preference probably significantly decreases the chances they would 'downgrade' him in that fashion.

im saying its 9 months away hes on a what thought was a comp becuase thats what he posted, but a partial comp. its way tom early to freak out, i live in hotels, just let it go as it gets closer deal with if he feels like it but personaly all reservation have disclaimer nothing is guarented, ie 2 beds one smoking or non.,i think hes freaking out way to early.

calling now and making a note means nothing as all notes arent seen till usaully day of arival if not 24 hours before, i just think he should mellow out relax . its not a big deal and ceasars policy, hes reservation is in may. what happens if cet announces a concert at the colisuim or some big convention during those dates theres so many factores this far out .

its been talked about before , in my opinion its not a big deaL if feels better calling they hotel and having them make a note that they wont see or care about to ease his mind , go a head.i was stating the facts..hotels have disclamers for a reasons.

but he what ever float his boat.

i understand what he was trying to do , but as i said its not a big deal , its 8 months away.

No reason to be snippy towards hogman and I havent read the rest of the thread. Yes, you want what you booked but with CET, shit happens and you also get what you did not book unfortunately. You are platinum, that will not help you with what you booked and what you expect. When I actually used to play at Caesars and was diamond, I had to take a room in the Roman Tower but changed first thing in the morning to the Octavious.

    My apologies.

Agree with this post, if you're that concerned about it, you need to call Caesar's directly. No reason to snap at people who are just trying to help.

It says right on CET website when you book that room types are not guaranteed. You could end up with what you booked, something worse, or even something better, but it's a risk you take when you book.
