Buffet split crab legs

    When in vegas I love me some buffet action. Most important is crab and shrimp. Does any body know what buffets have split crab legs available. A much more enjoyable experience when they are split. Last time(2 yes ago) the buffet in Paris had split. The Rio did not however.

    If you've seen them split post up the hotel.

    if your talking about split like this terrible stuff...this was at bachanel at ceasars palace

    i find normal untouched easier to work with

    Yes I am. Why don't you like it that way? Maybe I have bad technique but I get frustrated with it and end up with raw hands and not eating as much of it as I'd like.

    Aria, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay also offer split crab legs.
    Personally i think untouched ones taste way better den the split ones

    With Alaskan crab, it's far more about how long they sit around thawing and souping in their own brine as it is whether someone runs a knife along them. That's the thing with pre-cooked and frozen products, it's all in how and when they're brought off the deep chill.

    Too bad, the Fremont seafood buffet (downtown) used to split their crab legs but no longer do so. If you ask they do provide you with those things shaped like a fork/knife that you can use to split the crab legs. If you find a good hostess she may even provide you with one of those "crackers" to break the legs apart. Unfortunately there is a limited supply so they run out very quickly.

    I asked the waitress why they stopped (about a year ago) splitting the legs and she said that management felt it wasn't worth the effort to have someone do it. She and I agreed that it is more wasteful because now people can't scoop out all the crab meat and so get more legs to make up for it but I guess the cost of paying for someone to split the legs was more than paying for the increased volume of crab legs per person.

    The Bellagio has both king and snow split.

    Spice Market at PH has both cold and steamed split crab legs.

    Working at a place that offered a seafood buffet back in the 70s, I had a chance to eat snow crab legs that were actually sweet, not salty from the brine. From that point forward, I had a special taste for crab legs. Decades later, I have been disappointed by the excess saltiness found in Vegas buffet king and snow legs. From what I understand, this is a result of processing.

    Grab the skinny end of the leg, about 2-3" from the end, with two hands and Crack...best way to open a crab leg. You'll end up with a little shell handle and a big hunk of meat. I don't usually use the pry tool for fear of tiny little shell particles invading my meat.

    You need to pull all the joints apart first to get the tendons out, they gently break the shell in half and pull away. Works great if they are cooked correctly. Just use my fork to split them if needed.
