Sigh... like the last crew on Vegas Chatter, they really need to get some experienced editors. I guess I'm old school from writing for papers, but the poor grammar, sentence structure and punctuation really detracts from the reading experience for me.

And, the work you do is appreciated. If I knew where you could get another Rebecca - I'd be on it. We all need good editorial review(s). I don't think I ever submitted an article that did not need polishing. A good Wordsmith is valuable to have on board and will give you the professional look you need.

I think that if people are going to lose sleep or have their reading experience ruined by improper grammer, or maybe a not so properly used semi colon; or comma, or maybe even a run on sentence that just never seems to end because they'res just so much information on vegas available that you just want to get it all out there as fast as possible because the thoughts are racing through your head and your so super excited to be able to share all that late braking information as soon as you can with all the people you know what will get their vegas fix because you know it's more than 200 days away from their next trip and they're just longing to be home and there's glitter and unicorns everywhere and now I feel like penny pibbets and I hope maybe someone caught that reference and hears my voice fading at the end, THEN, I think you you are missing the point!

We (well at least I speak for myself) am an addict. A Las Vegas Junkie with a passion for all things Vegas and I believe that most people that do (err did) visit Chatter are (were) the same way! When I read an article at Chatter it wasn't like someone was speaking down to me because they were some posh writer that was telling me what I should or shouldn't like, it was more like a friend telling me about their trip and what they learned and what they did and didn't like. Vegas is for EVERYBODY and Vegas can be done a bajliion different ways and as long as you share how YOU vegas and you can tell that passion and enjoyment coming through, I think that's all that really matters :D

Hope I didn't offend those that are sensitive to poorly written english :D Now that I look back at this, I wonder if any of it really makes any sense.

Thanks Bonnie; I have it bookmarked and added for my morning coffee reading. I already miss VC.

When I posted during the laptop days, I'm certain everything contained less errors. In these modern times when many post from phones and iPads, shit happens. Sometimes I read something I posted and have to think back wondering if I had a drink or four in me....when I didn't. A few errors won't take away from the content for me and I wish this new Vegas Info source much success!!

Yeah, the mismatched font and all capital letters of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign really irks me too. WOW :/ The beauty of VC is that it was a peer based boots on the ground style of journalism. It was fun! You cannot even watch the nightly news without hearing mispronunciations and gaffes so it is hard to expect a largely volunteer work force to produce flawless product.

I've got no formal training other than a bunch of high school grammar competition awards, but I'd be willing to help edit posts for the new site. I was a big fan of Vegas Chatter and hated to see it go, so I'm glad to see something sprout up in its place.

It would be great if we could get "another Rebecca". It would also be great if we won Powerball. Folks need to keep in mind that Rebecca was a full-time financially-compensated professional editor. After her departure, Juliana took over, but also had the responsibility of being chief editor for two other... and larger...sites. People had a field day ripping VegasChatter apart once grammatical and other errors started to appear, without having the knowledge of what was happening behind the scenes.

I have the utmost respect for Juliana for continuing the operations of VegasChatter while doing the job of three full-time people (and working under the constraints of Conde Nast's financial cutbacks). She would have loved to hire somebody as a Deputy Editor to assist her in keeping things at the high level of quality that Rebecca set. But that wasn't in the cards. Or the budget.

Many of us, including myself, did what we could to help out without any extra payment (little as it was to begin with). We cared THAT MUCH about VegasChatter...enough to continue it now as VegasBright with absolutely no compensation at all.

So yeah, it would be nice to have a full-time professional editor. When you come across one who is willing to work for free, please give them our contact information.

Any spare "will work for free" people you find, would be welcome here too. :wink2:

I think it's great someone is willing to step up to fill the void. Best of luck to VegasBright.
