    My Trip Report

I will post recaps of the days -- Just me and the hubby both in our mid 50s and feeling older every day- I have a little slot and VP porn -- Will post the Days one at a time - I usually have to put in my pet peeves along the way - but I will try to be brief. My first time to have issues with Southwest.

Day # 1 flight out of Austin @ 3pm on Southwest-- so we thought. We live about an hour away from either Austin or San Antonio and will usually fly which ever is cheaper but prefer Austin. I check the flight status before we leave for the airport and plane is delayed until 4 pm with a stop/no change in Phoenix and instead of getting in at 5 pm we will get in at 6 pm. I had tickets to Carrot Top 8 pm -- I called and asked if they would keep our tickets and explained the delay. Yes they will mark them as a late hold and we need to pick them up at the Carrot Top/Luxor ticket office. Get to the airport check in was a breeze - although husband got a pat down at the TSA desk. My smart a$$ remark to him teasing him about being on the watch lists for all his hunting/guns and ammo magazines came back to bite me on the flight home -- I got a pat down -- karma.

We make it up to the terminal -- flight now says it is delayed until 6:30 pm -- no way we will make the show and tickets are paid for:grrr: So we go up to the terminal desk and the agent says she can let us fly standby for the 4pm flight getting in at 4:50 non stop - But they would have to move the bags and of course there was no way to guarantee getting on. My husband was very leery about the bags flying in before us. She gave us hope for that flight but said you will still get on your flight and we wouldn't lose our spots -- We decided to give it a shot. But she said to come back to the desk right at 2 pm because she can't put us on the list until 2 hours before and she said she tends to "forget". She must have forgot that her shift ended before 2 pm because she disappeared before then never to return. At 2 pm there was a different agent at the desk- We told him about the other agent moving our bags to that flight and giving us standby - He said "Oh you will never get on that flight -- it was overbooked" -- We never would have changed if we had been told that but we suck it up and hope for the best.

Then a miracle - they announce the boarding for our original delayed flight that was bumped back until 6:30 now leaving @ 3:45 (must have been a miracle because we were told at 2 pm the planes were stuck in Orlando due to weather) -- We could probably get there in time for the show - but it would be close - having to stop in Phoenix for one hour. We look at our boarding pass and did not realize the first ticket agent had moved us to yet another flight that left @ 6:55 non stop. We did not know what to do and there was a lot of chaos going on with other delayed flights and overbooking. Plus there was the chance to get on the 4pm non-stop - We chose to stick with the standby instead of trying to change back to our original flight -- We did not choose wisely.

345ish our original flight took off with out us and we hung on to hope of the 4pm flight. They were making last calls -- literally at the very last minute an elderly couple were rushing to board -- they were the last ones on and the flight was full -- had they not made it, we would have been on that flight. -- I knew I should have tripped him as he rushed by:evillaugh

So I looked at my husband and said "We haven't even left the airport and we lost $100 (ticket prices) We laughed it off and hit the airport bar -- Got on the 6:55 flight and took advantage of our Southwest drink coupons. We land in Vegas around 8 pmish. But then they make an announcement that a departing plane has not left our gate and we have to wait -- but it will only take 10 minutes -- it was 20 minutes waiting on the tarmac with very little cool air circulating. Other planes that landed after we did passed us up to the terminal gates as we sat in a hot plane. Finally get off the plane and our bags were waiting at the Southwest claim office. Taxi was nice just under $13 to MGM no tunnel. Check in at MGM was a breeze no long line and things are looking up. We get to our room on the 26th floor and our room door is ajar -- we knock peek in and my husband tried the key card in to make sure it worked -- and yes it did. We enter and put the bags down and I want to spruce up a bit before dinner. We had reservations at Buca Di Beppo in Excalibur -- (I had a free pasta coupon + it was to be on our way back from the show) I had promised my husband that this trip we would not be going out of the way to dine to save a few$$

We walk into the bathroom and I guess they didn't finish cleaning it. There was a damp wrinkled towel laying on the bathtub there was only one clean towel on the shelf. But, the icing on the cake of the not so clean bathroom were the used feminine products still in the trash can:vomit:

We call down to the desk and were told they would get someone right up -- 20 minutes later no maid and it is getting closer to leave for our 10 pm dinner reservation - we were trying to leave plenty of time to walk over to Excalibur. We were moving slow and were pretty tired. My husband who has never asked to speak to a manager of any business marched down to the desk and asked for a manager. The used kotex in the trash can lit a fire under him. He was polite when speaking to the manager and we weren't asking for anything. We told him we were going to dinner and just wanted to freshen up and felt like we couldn't. He gave us a $75 food and beverage credit - on top of the $50 one we already had. He assured us the bathroom would be clean when we got back -- and it was.

Over to Excalibur to Beppo's. My take on Excalibur it has that Beverly Hillbillies feel to it -- from the Bodine line - I know lots of normal people love it there - but they are few and far between. The meal was good -- not great - except the chopped salad was very very good. Bill was $72- $22 for the free baked ziti. They actually charge you for the garlic bread -- and it was not very good. The pasta dish was pretty good - I've had better and worse.

We went back to the room and crashed after stopping to buy a $75 bottle of Crown at MGM because we were too worn out to walk over to CVS or Walgreens. I had worked 7 of the last 8 nights before we left - and I work 12 hour shifts. I was originally to work Friday night too but I found someone to work for me -- I got up early Saturday morning to pack and I was going on just a few hours sleep -- I was asleep by midnight and slept 10 hours -- the best sleep I have had in over 2 weeks.

So that was the start to my trip - It actually has a happy ending will post more later --

Day 2 - since I slept in my husband went out and got coffee and McMuffins for breakfast - I had 3 $10 gift cards I got from American Express points. We went to the monorail and got our myvegas 2 for 1 - 4 day passes. There was a police officer with an older yellow lab standing at the desk. We stopped and talked to him and introduced us to "Betty" she was 9 years old and was an explosive sniffing dog. I asked him how much longer she would work and he said she was retiring in 4 months. I asked him if he gets to keep her and he said definitely he gets to keep her. He also sadly told us that he was up for retirement too and with the way people in uniform are being treated now around the country that he was really considering it. We both shook his hand and thanked him for his service - it brought tears to my eyes.

We then went to mlife and got our free myvegasslot play -- my husband got $85 work and I had $75. The husband bot about $45 back from Deal or no Deal and I got about $20 back on the first $50 I played. Nothing memorable at all. We ate lunch too early for me - split a Philly Cheese steak sandwich from Nathan's and then we went over to PH Miracle mile on a quest for a hat -- Fedora. Funny that he didn't wan't to march up and down the strip for meals -- but to find the right Fedora - he would walk to the ends of the earth(strip). He did find an Indiana Jones style hat he has wanted for a while. We played for a little while at PH but he got tired and left me to play the vp/slots on my own. I lost about $60 in VP and then went to a few slots. I accidentally did a $12 spin on a slot -- and got nothing back. I found a Cheshire cat and made $80 so I left up $20. I went back to the casino and used up the rest of my freeplay. Then I hit the Video poker - I tried JOB, Deuces wild etc and no great hits. I was starting to think there were no good wins. I tried several different slots Dean Martin took my money. Texas Tea gave me back a little. Then I tried the Village People and got a $66 hit and I was about even then. I will post the pics below.

Dinner was 2 for 1 Original Chicken Tenders - they are awesome.

Day 3 Monday -- another McDonalds breakfast and then to SLS to get some free slot play and check it out. It really is very nice in the casino - the music was great. Steely Dan, Blue Oyster cult etc -- lots of good 70s music and not the beebop hip hop electric stuff that is popular now. We ran into Betty again at the SLS station. I won nothing on my $7 free play and then spent another $20 on video poker with no wins. My husband turned his $5 into about $50 and we left for Fashion Show mall on the hunt for another hat for him. He coudln't find one there and we went back to PH via the Monorail Bally's/Paris stop. He found another hat at the same shop we were at the day before - Hattitude -- it was doing a lot of business. We ate a Stripburger and it was pretty good. We went back to PH and I couldn't find the Cheshire cat and didn't stay long. We went back the Bally's station and stopped to get a Massage at the water massage tubes at Bally's. I really did not want one until she offered us 2 for 1 - so then we both got one.

We ate dinner at Emeril's and it was wonderful. We both got the Pecan crusted redfish - and grits -- by far the best meal I have had in a long time and the best fish I have ever had. The grits were to die for -- and I am not a big grits lover. We split the Banana Cream Pie -- another wonderful dish. Oh and of course my husband spied the alligator meatballs - We split those and I was pleasantly surprised.

After the husband went up to the room to lounge around and I hit the video poker. I will post my video poker pics for the day below. I mainly played deuces wild -- got a teaser almost royal and then I got four deuces -- I ended up about $300 ahead for the day and then quit for the night.

Thanks for the report and pics!

Sorry you had trouble with a dirty room right when you get there. That always sucks as you are in vacation mode and don't want to have to feel like you need to take care of anything.

That night we went to the late showing of Zarkana. I had seen it once before and didnt like it. But this time really enjoyed it. They let you take non flash photos and I will post some. Day 5. After breakfast McDonald's egg ncmuffin and coffe. Other than the buffet it was the go to breakfast. I hit the vp hard in the morning. I used the royal flusher rules of parlay and was digging test holes and nada. Then I found a machine that gave me a run on JoB. No huge wins but constant 3 of a kinds. I was up now over $60. Not much but I had been down about $120. Then when I am on my roll some guy sits down 2 machines down and starts playing Keno. Keno with the volume all the way up. [emoji29]. It was so irritating. But I stuck it out until I started losing and still left about $100 up. I ended up losing later in the day that entire $100. But then got $50 back on Willy wonka and my husband made about $75 on willy wonka too. I kept my Tito in my purse and forgot to cash it in. Later that night we saw Terry Fator and he was great- really enjoyed it. We both lost $40 each at Mirage on slots. I was up for a while on A Bamboo Panda and Dragon bonus but gave it back. After the show we went to Cheesecake Factory to eat. Holy cow was it super crowded. I had never seen it that busy. Then back at MGM it was are last night and I was tired and feeling a little sad. No great wins other than my Four Twos on VP. I told my husband Zi wanted to find an older dollar machine and run max bets through on$100. We walked by one machine and I pulled out my uncashed Tito and on the first spin I got the 10x multiplier then a 7. Then last number 7. It keeps going bing bing. I won $800. I went to bed happy on our last night

I also got a nice surprise on checkout. They waived the resort fee for our mistrials the first day. So we got another $160 credit.

So if you were brave and bored enough to read through my trip report and are flying southwest before the end of the year and want 2 drink coupons. The first person to respond on the thread that you want them I will mail them to you. U.S. Address only please- I don't want to spend more than one stamp please. It may be later on today that I get back to you. I have to go break my dogs out of jail. Aka the pet resort kennels.

Sounds like a fun trip, except for the beginning. So gross that they didn't have the bathroom cleaned for you.

What a stressful start to your trip with your flights. Did you check to see if Luxor would reschedule your tickets for Carrot Top? I missed a show at Venetian once due to a late flight and Brad Garrett at MGM; on both occasions they rescheduled me to the following night at no charge.

Ewwwww to the bathroom condition in your room. Congrats on a nice win to finish your trip!

Great last pull of the trip. Always feels good to quit with a win. You should have checked with Luxor because I'm sure they would have re-scheduled. I got the day wrong on one of our times of seeing Carrot Top and they re-scheduled with no problem.

Wish I would have thought of asking to reschedule -- I did that once with KA with no problems. I forgot that I have an extra groupon for two 44oz margaritas at tacos n ritas at mgm. We used one there. I got a mango and husband got strawberry -- I really think the guy left out the liquor -- we could not taste any and I almost finished mine and felt nothing - nada. I usually can feel a little buzz on 2 margaritas served on the floor. They were super sweet -- it really needed more tequila -- if it had any at all. We saw bottles of cuervo gold sitting next to the margarita machines but didn't see him add any.

The first person to respond on here I will pass on the voucher -- you pay nothing because both margaritas are included they sell for $25 or $30 each. I should be able to email the voucher on a pdf so you can print. -- They expire sept 30 -- your trip needs to be before then
