    My Trip Report

Since we all know what an eloquent and detailed writer Mikey is, I thought I would share just the highlights from my point of view from my week in Vegas.

Paris Hotel: Awesome in every way! Check in was a breeze (got there around 3:00pm). Getting the P Room was wonderful. The room was huge, gorgeous views, loved the bathroom with tub & separate shower. The only thing I will say that bugged me was that the hallway to my room was like a meat locker! I know they have to keep it cold, but darn!!! I felt like I was truly walking through a deep freeze.

Food: My favorite was dinner at Alize (top floor at the Palms Hotel). The food was very pricey (but a vendor paid). It is gourmet food, but there is something EVERYBODY would like on the menu. I had the seared tuna in lemon sauce. It was delicious. A lot of people at my table ordered the filet and loved it. The appetizers were special made by the chef for our table, so they were not on the menu, but consisted of crab (huge pieces) with artichoke hearts, a large scallop in garlic & butter and a littler dish of shrimp scampi. I did not order dessert, but they had an incredible chocolate souffle that was the hit at our table. If you have lots of money to spend I would definitely go there. The scenery of the strip, all the lights coming on at sunset and the view of the mountains in the distance was killer!

I also loved the food at the Grande Lux Cafe, and of course the Peppermill! I wanted to eat there all the time! See mikey's trip report for more details. The breakfast buffet at Paris was wonderful, and the crepe's are to die for!

Shows: First night there Mikey took us to the Rat pack Show. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! Those guys were awesome. I laughed hilariously before the show at the loung act, Paul! Soooooo cheesy - - but, he fit right in with the rest of the place. The Sammy look-a-like was kind and gave us front row and center seats, so we were thrilled with it all. Next night hubby and I went and saw KA. All I can saw is WOWEEEEE!! Incerdibke in every way! It helps tremendously to get the "playbill" before hand to read about the story. If you understand what is supposed to be happening, you will enjoy it better. We were lucky enough to get VERY FRONT ROW, CENTER for this show too. We bought our tickets at the Paris box office. This show was my all time favorite of anything I have ever seen before. The sets were incredible, the performers were mesmerizing and the whole experience of watching it all made me feel like i was in another world. If you can drop the $$$ bucks to see it, GO!! Saturday night we saw Wayne Brady. What a great guy. This show was awesome. THe only downer was that he kept choosing these LOSERS from the audiance to "play along" and every one of them kinda ruined it for him. I am sure he went home that night and though, "Damn, these peole are dumb". If he had chose someone with half a brain, the songs, skits etc could have been more entertaining. Not his fault - - he was great. Saw Mama Mia on Tuesday night with Mikey. I though it was pretty good. THe set lacked detail, but the music and performers were pretty good. Loved the ending though - - the very bedt part! I should have bought the soundtrack!

Gambling: I am not much of a gambler, just mostly play the slots. I won about $400 one afternoon playing wheel of fortune (quarters) at the Golden Gate. All other slots on Freement street as well as on the strip seemed to be wayyyy tight! Maybe I Was just having a run of bad luck. I loved Mermaids music & fun atmosphere. Anything on Freements street was a hit with me!

BEST Part of the trip: Mikey picking us up in his cool ride and escorting us all around town, singing along to Elvis' VIVA LAS VEGAS! I loved it!!!

Likes: The Big Elvis at Barbary Coast - -what a hoot! Everything about Freement Street, the shows I saw, the Craps dealers at the Las Vegas Hilton, Peppermill, Mikey's Casino - - Sunset Station - - what a beautiful place!! Saw him deal and he was THE MAN! Taking everybody's money!

Dislikes: The Palms Hotel staff (not in Alize) They acted likethey were all secret service, walking aruond with head pieces and blocking all elevators. We wanted to go and just "see" the Ghost Bar. The "COP" was at the elevator to greet us and told us no way could we come in. No reason! It was Monday night at 9:00pm - - I am sure they had room for us!! We then proceeded to the Host stand where they asked to see our receipt from dinner (which was a little over $1000). Once they saw it, they said we could go up with one of their escots for 5 minutes, but we would each be required to pay $25!! Outrageous! The htoel & casino just seemed to be WAYYY too snobby for my liking. Disliked the grumpy cab driver who had to tell us how he doesn't have enough money and how he HATES to drive people out to Sunset Station. What a loser...

I am heading back to Vegas again August 11 - 14 with on eof my girlfriends. We will stay at Mirage this time. Looking forward to more wonderful adventures!!

Great report, Cyndi. To bad about the Palms, it's actually one of my favorites. I can't believe they treated you like that. Sounds like you definitely took advantage of your time in Vegas. It's always nice to get someones opinion on shows and dining. :)

Nice report Cyndi. I will have to try the Grande Lux Cafe when I stay at the Venetian in August. I'll be leaving the day you come in 8/11.

I'll never figure out those a-hole cab drivers. The guy gets a chance to get away from the strip traffic and make a nice drive and make some money. Who knows.

    Thanks for the report, Cyndi.

In his, Mikey said something about "Turns out that she had already gotten her first Indecent Proposal, and it was a doozy."

Are we going to hear about that??

    Indecent Proposal

Ok - - If you MUST know----

It was totally gross! I was at an opening reception for the convention I was at at Paris. There was an open bar, and unfortunately an open seat next to me. This guy sits down and he is dripping in gold jewelry, nugget rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. He also had sunglasses on (and it was night!) Anyway he started out friendly enough - - was telling me how he was a huge gambler and that Bally's had comped everything for him, including a huge suite with a jacuzzi. He said he had won $8000 that day playing poker over there. Anyway I wanted to disappear like a set of rims at a Puff Daddy concert - - but could not interupt him from talking about himself long enough to get a word in. He leaned over to me and told me that I smelled good (told him it was RAID, and apparently wasn't working) - - he just laughed - - LOSER - - then he said, "I have $2700 with your name written all over it if you'll spend the night with me tonight". I stood up and said, I'm not a prostitute, and walked off.

When I told Mikey what happened, he said I should have yelled out , "WHAT?? No I won't have sex with you for money!!" But - - I could not think that fast, I was so disgusted and just wanted to get away.

    Only in Vegas.........

Telling him it was RAID was a great line - even if he was too stupid and/or self-centered to get it.

How about, "Give me half now, go on up to the room and I will go change and meet you over there in 15 minutes. That's the only way I'll play." Then take half.

Nice to get the "flip" side of the story, Cyndi! Glad you had such a fun trip!!

Hubby and I loved Mamma Mia--I wanted the soundtrack but didn't get it, but ordered it online when I got home (pretty sure that MBay sells the broadway version anyway) and it was a lot cheaper. Made copies of it for home, car & office. I LOVE that cd!!! But then, I love ABBA anyway.....

Having seen that banana photo on Mikey's website, I have to say I totally understand why you got that indecent proposal :wink2:

Thanks for the kind words Hoya.

I am definitely going to pick up the soundtrack to Mama Mia. I have had those songs stuck in my head ever since I came home.

As for the banana pic - - not sure what I was thinkin' - - just trying to enjoy a snack in Vegas (haha)
