    My Trip Report

There was a little bit of Vegas buffoonery happening on Saturday night between a few of the T2V Irregulars.

On Friday night, I found out that they'd scheduled too many dealers for Saturday night at Sunset Station, so six of us 'extra-board' folks ended up having the night off. Since I've been working there, I've NEVER had a Saturday night off--and since the weekends (especially a holiday weekend!) are usually big money nights, I was kind of pissed when they took me off the schedule.

I didn't remember until mid-afternoon on Saturday that folks were meeting over at the Barbary Coast, so I searched the forums for the particulars, and left my house at 5:30, thinking I'd be able to grab a hot dog and beer and watch a little baseball in the sports book until the meet.

Traffic was horrendous that afternoon, and it took me damn near a half hour to drive the four miles or so from my house to the BC, but I finally got there and parked the Sled in the garage. I was down the elevator and in the sports book just a minute later, finding a seat where I could watch the Cards/Rockies game.

First order of business, a beer from the bar. Next order of business, a hotdog from the cart. I got back to my seat and the bun was so stale I could've driven a nail with it. So I went back and got a replacement. If I remember correctly, the beer was $2.50 and the dog was $1.25. It was a good snack, having been the first thing I'd eaten all day.

The game wasn't going to well, the Redbirds couldn't get anyone home, so after about 45 minutes of listening to all the people around me celebrate who'd bet on the Rockies, I decided to visit the tables for a couple of minutes before hooking up with The Usual Suspects.

I played craps for about ten minutes, shot the dice once, and left the table exactly even. After that I found a seat in the lounge, lit up a Partagas Black Label, and split my time between watching the game and looking for familiar faces. It was 7 pm, and I still didn't see anyone. I tried calling Vegas Jer but his cellphone went to voicemail. I left him a simple message-- BRING ME THE BANANA CHIPS BITCH! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?

I went back to the craps table again since it was empty, rolled for a few minutes, and then split with a $17 profit as soon as I sevened out. Heading back to the lounge I saw Larry's shiny bald head making it's way towards me, and just about thirty seconds later Vegas Jer came walking up. Apparently he'd been hiding out at the blackjack table.

Larry (SanonfreSurfer) had a buddy with him named Todd and the four of us sat down at a table waiting for anyone else who might show up. Before long, the rounds started landing in front of us--Captain & Seven, Malibu & Coke, Crown & Ginger Ale, and a Long Island. No, that's not what the four of us drank individually, that's what we all had! The Watermelon Martini was strictly forbidden. Sorry Killer...

We hadn't been there a half an hour but we were getting good and lit up, laughing and telling stories. Finally we realized that 1) Nobody else was going to show up, and 2) It'd be cheaper to drink at the tables.

So we left the lounge and found a wide-open $5 craps table.

We each bought in for a hundred and I got the dice first. I started rolling and since I had faith in my abilities, I started with $27 across and a couple of hardways. Jer was a little more agressive, Larry much less so, wanting us to teach him, and Todd was place betting right along with me.

Anyhow, I had a pretty damn good roll that went on for about ten or fifteen minutes, and we all made a little bit of money. I finally sevened out and got a few high-fives for my efforts. By this time the other end of the table was full.

Jer and Larry both had brief rolls, but we were going to stay until everyone had a shot.

Todd got the dice last and proceeded to throw a MONSTER. He was hitting everything. Sucker bets, hardways, pounding the sixes and eights, and making all of his points. He even outlasted two different stick changes. It was one of those dice rolls that you always wait for, and it lasted just about 40 minutes. When it finally ended, the table was going crazy, and he had been renamed 'Todd the Dice God'. The rails in front of us were pretty full.

We colored up, but while waiting for our black chips we each had bets on the line. It turns out that the next shooter went on a roll and we made even more money. The table was getting hot. All the guys at the other end were yelling at us to stay and that they'd pass the dice back around, so we stayed.

However, one jackass who kept getting his bets in late and having his hands in the table didn't pass and insisted on shooting. Jer and I looked at each other and said, The hell with it, lets go Dark Side on his ass! So we both tossed chips out there on the Don't, he set his point at nine, and we both laid max odds on him. Two rolls later--Seven Out! Yeah, we were high-fiving each other and apologizing to the rest of the table...

The dice came back to our end, and the guy next to me decided to keep up the tradition and had a great roll of his own, making us each another hundred bucks or so.

    Then I got 'em back.

I announced that I couldn't let Todd outdo me, so I was planning on a long roll myself. Since we were all up a couple hundy or more, we pressed our bets up and did a little more gambling.

Good thing we did, because it was My Turn. Yep, I followed it up with another epic roll. Again the table was going nuts--hight-fives, chest bumps, smack talking, and the dealers were lovin' it because they were making a fortune in tokes.

It finally came to an end about half an hour later, and both of my rails were filled with red chips. Jer and Larry passed the dice to Todd, but his was a quick one, and we decided to walk with most of our winnings intact.

I colored up to the tune of $652, and everyone else was somewhere between $450 and $700. Not bad with just a hundred dollar buy-in each!

Jer and I were both getting hungry, and Larry and his buds wanted to go downtown, so we decided to head down to Fremont, with the plan of eventually making it to the snack bar at Binions.

Larry and Todd headed for O'sheas to get the rest of their crew, while Jer and I went outside to try and get a cab from the BC. Just after we stepped out of the door, I was accosted by a herd of attractive young lasses, one of them wearing a Bachelorette sash. She told me that she needed my help, because she was on a scavenger hunt and had to kiss a bald guy with a mustache!

Ok! Now I'm an item on a shopping list!

A few lewd comments aside, pictures were taken and Jer and I were on our way downtown shortly thereafter. (Although I will say it's damn near impossible to get a cab to stop at the Barbary Coast!)

Clearly I was sober as a judge at the time...

It was getting late, and Jer said we were supposed to meet Kellee (Vegasbound) at the Plaza at 11:30. We got to the Plaza around 11:10 and decided to hold off on the snackbar at Binions, and just have a drink with Tim the bartender at the Keno bar.

Tim hooked us up, then we wandered a bit. Jer played a little blackjack, but I just observed, waiting for Larry and his gang to show up, and looking for Kellee. Everyone was running late, but I saw Kikky's favorite dealer, Queen Sheeba, laying the smack down on some unsuspecting tourists.

Kellee finally showed up, and Larry called saying they were at Le Bayou deflowering some Grain-Train virgins.

We made our way over there, and since Larry was at the front of the line already, he just picked up yards for everyone. I had the Banana Bayou, of course, Kellee had something blue, and Jer's was some ridiculous multi-colored thing that I was deathly afraid of. I don't remember what anyone else had, but all colors of the rainbow were represented.

After all the rounds back at BC lounge, plus the excellent drink service at the tables, just a few sips of that frozen goodness had us giggling like sorority girls as we wandered around outside. We sloshed our way up and down Fremont Street, like barrels from a shipwreck, before finally making it to Binions.

    ....More to follow later...

I have to go to work!

Sounds like MM2 revisited. You can always count on a crazy adventure with Larry involved. I don't think "low key" is in his vocabulary.

    Can't wait to hear more!

I feel like Oliver Twist... "Please sir, may I have some... more?" Great start Mikey. Can't wait to read the rest!

I tried calling during the "meet" but got Jer's voicemail too. He called back probably right about when the bachelorette party was accosting Mikey, and it sounded like every emergency vehicle in the state of Nevada was going by right then. My first (non-sober) thought: Shit! My friends are getting arrested!! My second: Bet the guy with the blue cooler isn't far behind!

WTG on the dice rolls, boys!

    ...The Adventure Continues

    Ok.

So the whole group (which had grown to about ten people by this time) made it to Binions. First bummer of the night--they'd closed the snack bar--it was no longer open 24 hours. Oh well, we soldiered on. And by soldiering on, I mean 'Found the nearest open craps table'.

The four of us each bought in for another hundy apiece, with the ladies watching from the background. Unfortunately both Todd and I were the 'Point Seven Out' guys this time around and our buy-ins evaporated like fog on a strip-club mirror.

Enough of that silliness, said we, it was time to get some food. Larry and his gang took off and we didn't see them again, while Kellee, Jer, and I headed for the coffee shop, still sipping the strong stuff.

We got a table immediately, and spent a few minutes looking over the menu until the waiter pointed out the graveyard specials. All three of us opted for the Steak & Eggs for $5.95. It's not the cheapest I've had, but it's certainly one of the best--much better than the Orleans, Upper Deck at the LV Club, or even the offering at Ellis Island. It's a decent hunk of meat and comes with eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. Not quite the old 'Benny's Natural' but it would have to do!

Breakfast was excellent and we had a lot of laughs while eating. At some point during the meal we realized just how banged up we were--the Grain Train might not have been heading for a derailment, but it was certainly getting wobbly.

Kellee insisted on paying for our breakfast, so I offered to leave the tip. We stumbled out of Binion's and made our way down the block to the LV Club.

The first order of business was to say hello to Dora, who was a little pissed at me for not having been back in there in over a month. But that's ok, I gave her a little Mikey-love and all was well and so she brought us a round of bottled water before she left for the night.

We took a look at the dice tables, played for a few minutes, but didn't win anything, so we headed back to blackjack.

We found plenty of available seating at a $5 shoe game and again Jer and I bought in for a hundy each. Kellee was sitting but didn't want to play, but Jer put some chips in front of her and insisted. Good thing he did, too, because with the three of us going against the dealer, we started winning. I was playing conservatively, Kellee was playing *really* conservatively, and Jer was making a run for the Banana Chips. Luckily the cards were going our way and he was getting paid in prettier colors than Kellee and I.

I made back my Binions losses and was slowing down the betting when the smelliest dude ever came and sat down next to me. He reeked like a combination of Thai food and Ass--and not the good kind of Thai food, either.

Anyhow, I couldn't stand sitting next to him, he was making me gag, and with a yard of slushy and about ten rounds of other assorted beverages just looking for a reason to come back up for a visit, I colored up and moved to another table.

Kellee came with me, but Jer stayed behind a few minutes, because not only was he on a hot streak, but he hadn't smelled the guy yet. It only took him five minutes or so, and he joined us at another table.

Kellee wanted to quit gambling, but Jer was up so much that he just kept putting chips in front of her, and I kept tossing chips over when she needed to split or double down. She wasn't having nearly as much luck as Jer or I, but it was a lot of fun. I finally got to the point where I was up another $250, so it was time to color up.

Kellee and Jer did the same, but instead of leaving, we went back to the dice table. This time we insisted that Kellee play with us.

It was Jer's turn to shoot first, and I believe he just passed the dice to me. All I remember is that I was in the dice zone again. We all started small, with just $16 inside or something like that, and decided to press our way up. It was another awesome roll, and before long the table was rocking everyone was getting loud. Kellee was grinning like a goofy newcomer that could do no wrong, and Jer and I started getting paid with the green stuff. I rolled for like 40 minutes and colored up with another $400 or so.

In my drunken state I told Jer that the best part of the evening would be waking up tomorrow morning and going through my pockets and finding green chips that I'd forgotten about...

We finally walked away from the dice tables, went to the cage to color up, and made it back outside to the surreal silence of early morning Fremont Street. We couldn't believe that it was 4:15 already. Where did the night go? I swear, we had one of those nights that inspires beer commercials.

Kellee was kind enough to offer us a ride back to our cars--Mine was at the Barbary Coast and Jer had parked at the Rio.

When I got back to the BC I realized that I shouldn't be driving yet, so I went inside to use the bathroom, sit down, drink bottled water for awhile, and sober up.

When I got inside the casino, I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a gathering of Vegas Hotness the likes of which I'd never seen before. It was like being at a beauty contest, but instead of modeling for categories like Swimsuit or Evening Gown, every one of these dozens (and I *do* mean DOZENS) of chicks were competing in the 'Who Can Be the Biggest Slut' category.

    Oh hell yeah!

It was an endless parade of cleavage and Bebe jeans, tramp stamps and belly rings... Good times indeed!

I guess the big attraction was the after-hours club at Drai's, but for me it was like being a cat watching a conveyor belt filled with sushi moving by just out of reach.

All I can say is... Awesome! I'd never seen anything like that back in Tennessee. I stuck around and watched the show for almost an hour, and felt fine, so I fetched the car from the garage and drove home in the morning sunlight, craving sleep like Cosby jonesing for a Pudding Pop.

The final tally--One banana chip for Mikey, two for Jer. I mean, that is, if the LV Club had banana chips... I think Kellee even made a couple hundy.

The funny thing was, the next afternoon when I woke up, I emptied my pockets trying to find my car keys, cell phone, lighter, etc, I found another black chip from the Vegas club in my left pocket!

In retrospect, I'm damn glad I was taken off the schedule that night--tokes came to just over $150--I made seven times that!

And between Saturday night and his previous visit, Jer has established a pattern of us winning when he comes to town. I hope he comes back soon!

So there you have it--I bet nobody will ever miss a T2V meet again. :p

Nothing like sitting at the BC Black Jack table right at the end of the row in front of the stairs to Drais right when it is closing. A parade to rival anything I've ever seen. One of my "favorite things to do " in vegas. Glad you discovered it and enjoyed it Mikey!

Again, nicely done Mikey. Great to relive the evening through your words. Thanks to you and Jer, I did make a couple hundy...

Uhmmm, Scott? Where exactly is *your* trip report from a couple of months ago. You remember, the one where you changed your signature line to something like "now I know why it's called craps" to afterwards?

Shhh.... I'm still trying to forget those loses. If it makes ya feel better, I've got my notes laying here on the desk under about a pound of bills and miscellaneous crap. Besides, I do believe there were several side bets on how long it would take to write it. :D

    Wow, what a great time...

That was a fun night and the banana chips were to be had! I started the trip with $75 in gambling money. At one point I was up $2300, but ended up coming home with about $1300(Now the Challenger tournament will be paid in full as of today!) after all the food and stuff for the kids for 4 nights. Circus Circus/ESPN Zone/Gameworks gets quite expensive

I'll get on a trip report soon, the next night there was a grain train accident.. Oh yes, I am in the Doc Al club. Lets just say the two fisted thing isn't that great of an idea after drinking about 8-10 beers...

"Todd the God! Todd the God!!!" Nice...
