Sounds good. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Yardbird. Don't think I've read a bad review but I keep forgetting to try it when I'm in town.

That's it. I hear chatter about it but then I don't know that anyone I know personally has actually been there. Guess I'll find out.

Ken - Bootlegger? My understanding it may be a destination for entertainment, but not so much for the food. Have you heard differently?

We've not been there in, I'd guess, MANY years, but had good meals the few times we were there. Some of the gang is staying south of the Strip so it's close. They have booze. Red sauce. Veal shanks. Wine of some kind. lol We'll see. It's not Battista's, thankfully. ;)

Stopped into Yardbirds for a pre Public House snack, and to see just how well they actually do Southern cooking, they passed with flying colors I must say. The fried chicken biscuits were pretty well perfect, great biscuitsm nice seasoning on the chicken and cooked very well, the Mac and Cheese was tasty with a nice crust, the Quail under a brick fell short of my own Quail but that's wild quail vs pen birds so I give them a pass and while I did not eat any the wife said the Devilled eggs were the best she ever had.

You heard wrong, Bootlegger had possibly the best traditional Italian I have had in Vegas plus the portions are HUGE.

Ask about the blue plate special at yardbird (not on menu) . $15 gets you 2 pieces of fried chicken, watermelon and a biscuit

Nah, for me it's garbage in, garbage out.

I'll be in vegas in less than 4 weeks and these are the places I plan to eat at:

    In n Out
    Fremont Tuesday seafood buffet
Market St. Café prime rib dinner
Lanai at the Cal - hamburger steak or fried chicken wings plate lunch
L & L drive in mini plate (not really but who knows)
    Aloha Specialties plate
Breakfast at Market St. café, fremont buffet and mcd's in the Plaza (staying at the Cal).

Getting older (nearing 60) and diabetic and nowadays I don't eat as much as before so I don't splurge for meals anymore. Plus I'm going to be there as a single so no real desire to go to nice restaurants. If I had company I would consider going to shows and nice restaurants but not as a single.

One of my most fond Vegas food memories is having the 7-course tasting menu at Commander's ... a three-hour solo extravaganza.

Ken, that's a wonderful idea. I need to pick a place to do a solo-tasting menu if I get back to town in September. I treated myself to a chef's menu on a whim at Japonais last trip and really enjoyed it.

    I miss Commander's. :(

I obviously solo travel all over and why let that hold you back from eating well?! Good servers, table captains, wine stewards, bartenders or whomever is there can really make it special -- wherever you are dining on the scale.

Glad you gave yourself a treat!

Chicken looks great, although I could hear my arteries closing up after looking at that photo.

Agreed completely, I travel solo a fair amount (not just in Vegas) and have had some amazing meals. And that's not just counting eating at the bar, which I do pretty often; I've had some phenomenal tasting menus just sitting alone and relaxing.

Personally, I need to try some new places. My last couple trips have gone along these lines:

    Julian Serrano
    Lift Bar
    Javier's
    Lemongrass
    Lift Bar
Picasso (incidentally, one of my favorite places to dine solo)
    Julian Serrano
    Lift Bar
    Todd English Pub
