Any input on the walk from Ceasars to Rio...
    How long...
    Is it safe...
    Is it worth it...
    On Aug 17...

Never been over there to Rio/Gold Coast/Palms, thought I'd hit it when I get out there in a couple of weeks.

I wouldn't but I could see my husband thinking we should and then half way admit it was a bad idea. I'd rather take the shuttle from ballys like what was already mentioned :)

Gold Coast shuttle runs from ceasar's forum shoppes to Gold coast and Orleans. Any one can ride on it you can then walk over to Rio. Then take rio shuttle to Bally's if you wanted to try different hotels. Remember everything looks close in vegas til you walk it.

I agree with the others, not a good idea to walk to the Rio. In a couple of weeks it will still be hot, probably in the 100's. You also have to navigate and cross the interstate and fight with traffic and the grit and grime from cars along the way. Beware as cars passing by also kick up pebbles and stones in addition to the road dust so it isn't a very enjoyable walk. Best to take the shuttle if possible. Exercise when you get home.

Its Death Valley in summer hot plus the sidewalk sucks with all sorts of cars zipping about.

Just pay the money for the cab.

Besides the shuttle the 202 bus stops next to cp on flamingo. I would never walk it the cars can be nuts driving and turning from flamingo.
The Boyd shuttle takes hotel guests first cet loads by tier status checking cards with id when there is a crowd may not get on these. Can wait and try the next one.

I did it once a few years ago. It's not a nice walk, but it is very doable if you are in decent shape. I don't even recall why I wanted to go to the Rio but I not been back since and I would not walk again.

I have done this walk and it is perfectly safe. There is a pedestrian sidewalk along Flamingo and over the interstate. It is also not that far - but I agree that the heat can be pretty brutal in Mid-August. Really depends on your personal choice as to whether you are up for the walk. When I did it a couple years ago I went over pretty good time in the morning and the heat was not too bad. I did take the shuttle back to Ballys which is pretty convenient also.

100% agreed! It's plenty "safe", just not pedestrian "friendly" in the least.

There are 2 shuttles to the Rio. One from Harrah's and another from Bally's. Harrah's shuttle picks up out the back door near the hotel lobby. Bally's shuttle picks up out the side door just past the check in desk. From there you can walk across the street to Gold Coast and from there cross the street to the Palms.

Very doable, but it depends on you and the time of day. You do need to be careful at the cross walks.

If I were at Caesars I would take a cab to Rio and then walk to the Old Coast and take a shuttle back from there.

I have done it a few times, depends on if you like to walk or not. Definitely agree it's not pedestrian friendly with all the grit in the air.

You can shave off some time if you dip out from behind the pool at Caesars and get on the overpass there. You can also shave off some distance by not taking the pedestrian overpass......but you have to pay attention when you cross the freeway exit.

Do not walk to Rio from Caesars.
Just too long and too much in the August heat (or any other time, really.)

Walking the strip from one end to the other is cool (early morning or nighttime in Aug), walking to Rio/GC is NOT!

Hubs and I did it once, in April some years ago when staying at Bellagio - doable, yes. But noisy, huge gusts of air felt dirty and grimy, crazy windy, cars and buses whizzing by emitting exhaust fumes and kicking up loose gravel - and yes, halfway through we look at each other and say "Stoopid" !! On second thought, maybe everybody should do it once - and post pictures!
Took a cab back. Cab, shuttle, bus are good options.
