Table Games Bellagio & Aria Switching to 6:5 Blackjack

I am surprised the news didn't show up here:

Bellagio was the only hotel left on the strip, where I played $10 live blackjack, and looks like it's gone. I just played there three months ago.

So, the only blackjack I play on the strip will be the $3 S17 machine blackjacks at Excalibur and Luxor. I will never ever play that crapjack game and I'm very tired of these companies screwing up the conditions every single day.

I go to Las Vegas four or five times a year.
EVERY time I go, the gambling conditions get worse. Hard to believe, but true.

What can they screw up next? Wynn has already started to screw with the craps odds. Double odds only will probably spread around The Strip. Then they'll change the payouts...and brag about it.

"Now paying three to two on the 4 and 10!"

 

Sadly, they know that people come to Vegas to gamble, not to spend extra time trying to find the best odds. I know this firsthand, because my buddies used to give me crap years ago for walking a little farther to avoid CSM tables and/or the few 6:5 tables that existed. They said, I thought you came to Vegas to gamble? Who cares about higher house advantage? Sigh.

The only people who can really hurt them by taking their business elsewhere are the high limit room players, which is why they haven't really screwed with those tables as much.

As for 2x craps, that just makes me want to play the "Don't" and not lay any odds. Craps isn't even worth playing for 2x odds

 

Disappointing but hardly surprising. Only their low limit games, obviously.

There is also a $5 S17 machine at Aria, and still decent $10/$15 live 3:2 blackjack at Bally's and Paris. I also saw a 3:2 $15 table in the back of Cosmo on my last trip a few weeks ago. So it's still possible to find playable lowish-limit blackjack on the strip. But I will miss those $10 Bellagio tables, even if they were CSM.

Thanks for the additional options, I was avoiding CET like the plague for BJ, but I'll check them out next time.

Honestly I wish they'd get rid of all low limit games at the top properties.

There's other casinos for that action.

 

While CET did sort of start the 6:5 plague - they have actually been moving the other direction lately. Was surprised last trip to happen upon a $15 3:2 table at Harrahs. PH will have $15 3:2 tables during the daytime and perhaps on weeknights. I think Bally's also has at least one $15 3:2 table most all of the time. Overall if you are looking for 3:2 at under $25 you are now more likely to find it at a CET property than MGM. (TI and Tropicana are also options).

I know that there are a lot of people out there who've never been to Vegas, but I wonder how many repeat visitors (which there have to be a lot of) that they are turning off with these stupid rule changes. Surely there are a lot of folks that have to be mad at not being able to easily find relatively cheap 3/2 blackjack on the Strip.

Or maybe its at the point where they just don't care about the low-rollers and only want to cater to the quarter and up players.

I wouldn't mind paying an additional $25-30 per night for the hotel (which I'm doing anyway off the bat with the resort fee), as long as they stop screwing with the games.

 

1.) they're not going after those "repeat customers", who don't have a high theo.
2.) Exactly...they'd actually rather only cater to black chip and above players...

 

I am okay with that--I'd "self-comp" at top properties where I get a few bucks off now and play somewhere else. I have never seen a casino full of $100 minimum players; I don't think it would work...but they can try it and I can play somewhere else!!

 

These machines pay what for a natural?

I know I am a low roller. I don't make a dent in any bottom line; but the number of "me" out there do. For giving me a playable game ($10-$15), they get all of our money in spite of low comps....that is $5,000 or so each trip with most of the losses coming from the slots my wife plays. Her games--slots--are anywhere. She'll play, and our money, will go wherever I am happy. I don't get squat in comps from high end places, which is fine. I do get to play my game the way I like; make it green or black chip, and I am off to somewhere else...but I will still rent a room from you...

Cosmo has done this in the past during CES...even for the carnival games...which is odd because a lot of the CES people are not big gamblers. There did seem to be more "hit-n-run" type players...they would buy in for the usual $100 or $200...lose it after a few hands and then off to the next destination. I really liked watching the reactions to the few that got lucky and actually won before they took off!

 

They pay 3:2. However, watch out, not all machines have the same rules. Mirage one for example is a 6:5 machine.

I haven't played the one at Aria, but the Luxor/Excal ones are probably the cheapest possible gaming on the strip. With $3 minimums, 0.36% house edge, say you cycle through $180/hr, your theo would be 65 cents an hour based on perfect basic strategy. This is like 1980s all over again

And they are mostly filled up with folks, so it's almost as fun as the live tables with cheering up, boohs etc.

 

Why does Treasure Island not get any love on this forum? All of their multi-deck games are 3:2 with decent rules. Play at TI and tell them you'll vote with your wallet for 3:2 blackjack.

 

I am with shifter on this one. Plenty of good $25 tables on the strip. Mirage has a double deck s17 table for $25. Even my wife who doesnt love to gamble likes the $25 tables over the $10 ones.
