High Rollers get away with more bad behavior according to LV Sun article

It should come as no surprise to readers of Vegas Message Board trip reports, but a blurb in the LV Sun today confirms
what a lot of us already suspected. High Rollers behavior is tolerated and dealers suffer more abuse from them.

Agree that the article doesn't say much. But from experience, I suspect some of it is correct. I have never seen a High Roller get away with anything that risked the integrity of the game. But dealers have told me that they tend to get more abuse from higher rollers. And I recall once watching a high roller consume narcotics at a high limit baccarat table at Aria. I was kind of stunned and couldn't imagine that would fly at a regular table

What king of security does Mohegan Sun have? Shouldn't that be obvious from the first time it's tried? He's allowed to cheat and he still loses!?!

 

I spoke with one of the bartenders at Bond in Cosmo last year. He told some pretty wild stories about this. They certainly get away with it, I have no doubt after hearing the stories.

 

I can't believe that any casino will let you declare a late bet after you have already seen the cards....................

Late bets are often allowed. I've been paid on bets that weren't even out there because I bet the same every hand and just forgot once.

But never will they let you post a bet after you've seen the cards.

 

The argument is about a bet you "forgot" to post. That would only apply for your normal bet amount. They would never let you retroactively bump the bet.

Dealer got fired for giving a high roller special treatment but claims that was the norm.

 

Dweller, that's the same article I posted at the beginning of the thread. AP put it out on the news wire, and LV Sun, etc picked it up.
I re-posted the same story link from another URL since the LV Sun link was broken and only showing the portion that is fed to some of the search engine indexes.

 

I think the stink it raises is about management bending gaming commission rules to accommodate high value customers, and then pinning the blame on the lowly staff when caught or under
surveillance by regulators. The US military has perfected that play for years with sentencing lowly enlisted people to long jail sentences, and letting high ranking officials retire with pension for similar crimes.

 

I tend to see these things from a practical (read: selfish) point of view. I fail to see what high rollers doing with staff does for me or against me. Likewise, I also don't see what escorts and hosts are doing up in the suites. I do want the high rollers to continue to do what they do best in Las Vegas - spend lots of money. It raises the tide for all and allows us to continue to do what we like to do in Las Vegas.

Absolutely. Working for a casino you know that you're completely expendable at all times.

If you say yes to a whale and the wrong people find out, they throw you under the bus and you're fired.

If you say no to a whale and he complains to the right person, you get fired.

You're always replaceable and you're always at risk of getting fired for any decision you make.

This is why they always pass the buck up the chain and nobody is willing to make a decision.

 

Actually I take the opposite position. Every customer should be highly valued to the business. We as consumers have developed this casual perspective that low quality service is the norm. Staff should always be treated courteously even when raising an issue.

High rollers who lose help make or break quarterly numbers and allow the casinos to devalue the mid tier player. There was a time in Vegas when all gamblers were treated well. With the proliferation of gaming and the corporation having to compete harder for gaming dollars, they would rather find greater margin and more stable sources to revenue.

However if consumers rose up in unison they would be forced to improve, However almost good seems to be enough, unless you lose 6 figures a trip.
