Video Poker Aria slots / video poker...?

Tried a search, but a bit like finding a needle in a haystack...

Can anyone help me with the machines in the Aria that are referenced in some of the trip reports here. Is it row 302 or 802 or something? And what is so special about them?

You might be talking about the 25 cent bonus deluxe machines, which are the best quarter machines in the casino. They are listed here:

under 98.49% payback. I've played them several times. They are very easy to find, just walk down the aisle toward the players club. They are back-to-back, right on the aisle near the club.

They are mult-iline super times pay but you do not have to play multi-line or STP--you can just play one line, "normal" play. So that's what I like about them--you can play acceptable video poker, at the quarter level, in a fancy-schmancy setting. If you happen to hit a four of a kind, it's a hundred bucks. If you don't, since two pairs only pay 5 credits, your bankroll can diminish fairly quickly.

 

Also, the "BeeeJay Memorial Row 802" is a few rows in front of the Mlife Desk, as a rough guide to where row 802 is. As gradytripp said, the biggest draw is that those machines offer 8/6 Bonus Deluxe (98.49% before STP) for as cheap as quarters. Other games aren't quite as good, DDB is still 9/5 I think (97.87% before STP), which is still decent for the strip at quarters. If you play STP by betting 6, or Double STP by betting 7, your return can go up by 0.28% and 0.5%, respectively. But the game is quite swingy, especially at Double STP.

I will say that at least one of those two machines is often occupied. Clearly, the word is out among the tiny percentage of Vegas visitors that actually looks for good machines. (Same thing applies for the two full-pay dime bonus poker machines at Cosmo, which you should also check out. And you should also consider the 9/5 quarter JoB at the Bellagio sportsbook bar.)

But during the day I've generally been able to find at least one of them open. Every time I play STP or double STP, I get killed and the multiplier never does me any good. But I know that mathematically, tringlomane is right and in the long run it does increase the payback. Have fun!
