As always, I'm planning future trips to Vegas. My October stay is taken care of - so it's on to planning my spring trip :). Both my BF and I have accumulated quite a bit in M Life express comps over the past few years. As we always have comped rooms/food, we never spend them. I have over $1,700 and he has over $1,000. My plan is on our trip next spring to spend one night in someplace "extreme" for one night after our normal stay at the Bellagio.

We are neither big fans of the Aria, so that can be excluded. We are looking at the Mirage Lanai's or MGM Grand Skylofts. What else is out there that is in the $1,500-$2,500 a night range that we should consider.

Where would you choose, and why?

I have often thought about blowing some of my $2,000 in express comps on a great suite. I have opted not to for the following reasons:

1 - In the end, it is just a room. With that money we can
    do multiple spa trips
eat at fancier places than normal
    do more shows
have drinks at fancy bars we would normally not do
blow money on cabana at pool

2 - We usually get a decent suite anyways. Once we tried to upgrade and they wanted way too much and opted out

3 - Spend points on friends and family.

I would never do a fancy room for only one night. First day is checking in and getting settled. Next day is checking out. No fun.

Someday I want to stay in one of MGM's Skyline Terrace Suites.

Could be wrong but I think I recall Josie posting she has stayed in a Terrace Suite.
I don't think you can go wrong with either one of your choices. The Lanais look interesting but I like the MGM casino more than Mirage.
Personally I like the idea of spending excess express comps on a special suite for a night or two.

See if you can get your host to put you in the Mansion midweek.

A 1br will only cost you $1500/night in ECs even though it would go for $5k cash.

Midweek they are pretty much empty so they might be able to swing it.

The other option is loft 97 or 98. The terrace Skylofts.

I prefer the Mansion myself and that will cost you closer to $3k per night but some people like it better.

We don't do spas, we don't do shows (plus my offers come with show tickets), we aren't foodies, we don't do the pool. Although I did give thought to doing one of the M Life experiences - or whatever they are called.

Very nice, although having a multi-level suite is kind of a PITA. The stairs terrified me. I'm not the most graceful person, and had visions of myself tripping while coming down the stairs and either dying from the fall, or flying out the window at the bottom of the stairs :).

I have to admit, the private pool with the Lanais looks really cool.

For now, that is running in first place :).

Good suggestion. I hadn't even thought of the mansion.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Our plan would be to probably not do much gambling and just enjoy the suite - especially if we had the private pool. Or I can blow $1,500 on a tattoo :).

I stayed in a Mirage Lanai in February and it was awesome. I think if splurging for a night having your own pool definitely improves the experience.

Oh man please get the "knight for a day" Mlife moment at Excalibur haha... I feel like i would wanna do one of the Mlife moments. Dive with the sharks or dolphis, or private cooking lesson, pick the Bellagio fountain song. Those are crazy, and it would be fun to have an inside Vegas experience.

Not sure I'd want a fancy suite for 1 night.. If you could manage 2, in maybe a slightly less fancy place..

Since the OP does not need/use the spa, food, show options, then a great suite does have some value.

I would still consider what you can get for TWO nights vs one to get more enjoyment out of it. The first day is checking in, getting settled. Next day is checking out. Just a thought.

I will definitely consider that. As it stands I will be there again this October, and will most likely earn at least a few hundred more dollar in EC's, so could probably swing 2 nights in something in the $1,500 range a night.

No question, I would stay at the Villas/Lanais at Mirage. Best rooms in Vegas. Private pool, butler and very serene amongst the other benefits. They are amazing and I am addicted to them, cant stay anywhere else.
