Comparable pool / atmosphere to Mandalay Bay?

We've been to Vegas twice over the last 5 years and we've stayed at Mandalay Bay once and THE Hotel the 2nd time, both of which, share the same pool.

We're planning a trip for this coming August and my top requirement is a great pool - but I don't want to stay at Mandalay Bay again (for no reason but to try something new) but I really don't want a pool that's over crowded.

Can anyone recommend a hotel on the strip with a similar atmosphere? IE: not super crowded; a nice restaurant(s) in the pool area to catch lunch; not a college pool but not a super old pool either (we're 33 and 35)?

Obviously, some of the specifics of Mandalay Bay's pool are specific to Mandalay Bay (wave pool, lazy river, etc...) so I'm not necessarily looking for those; I would just prefer to relax then to sit at what turns out to be a day club with music blasting and everyone getting trashed.

Check out MGM Grand. Their complex is top notch and has several pools and a lazy river. It's big like MB.

An under-the-radar pool in my opinion is Monte Carlo and it definitely fits what you want. They have a wave pool and lazy river (smaller than MB) and it has a laid back vibe. The Pub has some good food you can hit up for lunch.

Flamingo would be another one to check out if you want to be more mid-strip.

That's a tough one. I would probably say Bellagio. Tends to be an older crowd and even on busy days, I have never felt cramped there.

I would disagree with the post about the MGM Grand. yes, it has a lazy rover (I honestly don't remember it having a wave pool, but I could easily be forgetting that), but it definitely has a party, younger atmosphere. Flamingo is nice too, but IMO tends to get crowded and feel cramped. The venetian pool might suit your needs as well, so long s you stay away from Tao. But I like the Bellagio pool better

Aria has great pools, although now that one of their pools is for Sky Suites only, I am not quite sure if it gets too crowded in the other two pools. Signature has great pools, and Bellagio is great too, but the Bellagio's pools can get really crowded on weekends.

Aria's pools are nice, but they don't have any sort of cafe anymore, and their drink service is atrocious (as an aside, I absolutely love Aria, but poolside service and their bell/valet/cab staff are the two most glaring flaws about the place).

I would tend to say MGM Grand over Bellagio just based on what the OP was looking for, but they're both very nice. Bellagio is much calmer than MGM Grand, but also tends to skew older/quieter when I've been there. MGM Grand is a good middle ground between the sort of party atmosphere that you get at a place like Hard Rock or Cosmo or Flamingo, and a quiet pool like Bellagio; plus, in my experience the fact that there's a major dayclub directly adjacent to the MGM pool complex means that the crowd looking for that sort of thing winds up there instead of taking over the main pools.

I love The pool at Mirage although it can get crazy crowded, especially in August

Caesars has a beautiful pool complex with about 7 different pools, one of them has swim up blackjack.

$75 for a day bed is a good price (in the Vegas market). Looks like you have to be guest there to book that (so I guess I won't).

    All great suggestions guys, thanks

Right after I posted the question, I started thinking about the experience we had the last 2 times which makes me want to stay at MB again

Being at the end of the strip doesn't bother me (we usually rent a car) - can anyone comment on how Day Light (the day club) has effected the main pool area at MB?

The choice so far is roughly between MB, Bellagio, Wynn and Mirage

Mirage casino has always seamed so dark to me
Bellagio is always packed (lobby, casino, restaurants) when ever we went
Wynn is high on the list, other then it tends to be more expensive then my other choices, but for a nice pool / little quieter (not MB) i'll eat the cost

Daylight cannot really be seen or heard from the main MB pool. It's a good ways off, you need to go up the steps and around into the surface parking lot. You can notice moorea from the pool sometimes, but not daylight.

I'm not sure there really is a truly comparable pool complex to MB to be honest. It is was just built way bigger and continues to be invested heaviliy in. One of the primary reasons I love staying there.

I think I agree with you, dutchvelvet

Just far enough down the strip to be away from the hustle; great pool; nice restaurants; good rooms / bars / clubs

    3rd times a charm?

Wynncore, their euro section at either Wynn or Encore is exactly what your looking for! Yes it comes with a bigger price tag then MB but you will certainly get your money´s worth. Much nicer room and pool area imo and you will never have to worry about any kids since its 21 and over.

Mirage is also knee-deep in renovations right now.

I agree as to Bellagio. One of the things I like so much about Aria is that it doesn't attract the spectators like Bellagio does. People go to Aria to eat, to gamble, or to stay there, but not to just wander around. Wynn isn't as bad as Bellagio in that regard, but it also attracts huge crowds in the evenings and on weekend days because of the clubs, an atmosphere which I'm not a big fan of.

I love MB too... and lately, the last 3-4 times they have upgraded us to Delano for the asking... in my opinion, you can't beat the MB pool anywhere in Vegas!
