My bro's got into craft beer, so much so that he started making his own.

We will be straying at Flamingo, where can we get some craft beers?

    Are they comped while playing?

What's the price if they are not comped?

I remember hearing about TAG Bar (iirc) but if someone would refresh me on that it would be appreciated.

When I was there in March I had no problem getting Lagunitas IPA on the casino floor.

As for the OP, I'd definitely check out Tag. I haven't been there but the reviews always mention a great beer selection.

Tag is definately worth checking out. Lots of beers to choose from and if I remember right they will comp any beer $9 and under while playing VP

Tag has the best selection. It has poor video poker pay tables but respectable beer selection.

+1 for TAG. They have a rather generous comp policy and great selection. We were there during march madness and played at a slow to moderate rate...the bartender even comped a drink for me and my wife after I stopped playing, and my wife had not been playing the entire time. She wasn't even sitting at a chair pretending to play. I'm willing to give up a couple % return for the beer selection and friendliness of the bartenders.

Since you were asking about routes to downtown I will assume you are headed there at some point, and point out that Main Street Station has the 777 brewpub, and you can get their microbrews at the table. Nothing earthshattering, but they get the job done.

It's the only bar that escaped the CET strip bartop downgrade though to my knowledge, so it's the best CET bartop on the strip in terms of payback.

And yeah, TAG at the Linq, no other bar is even close in terms of beer selection.
This list is dated and is now reorganized by beer style, but most of the beers are still there (photos courtesy of Rubos):

As for where you're staying, Donny, Bugsy's has a few craft beers on tap, I drank Happy Camper IPA there this year. Also the main bar at Harrah's has about 20 taps. Also most (all?) CET properties have Lagunitas IPA now.

We've never gotten into video poker.

How many drinks would I get out of $20 in the MACHIENE?

Tag....great beer selection, great bartenders. Dogfish Burton Baton is a jaw dropper !

$20 in, make sure the bartender sees you do it, order beer, tip $5, play 5 credits all the time with ypur $20 and that will likely yield you two beers. Tip at leat $2 on the second before you leave/ cash out. Take picture of Royal :):):)

Or he could just buy the beer, since between the gross over tipping and horrible paytable his expected loss your way will be much higher.

Unfortunately Burton Baton may be one of those beers they stopped carrying. I don't remember it being on the revised list this year. I painfully bought a single 12 oz. bottle for $4.29 last month at a beer store. Not worth that...but I'd drink it for "free"!

Only if he plays faster than he drinks. I'll play 100 hands an hour at TAG with a $3 expected loss before errors, get 3 beers in that hour that retail $20-$25, and no one there has ever complained. But I agree tipping $7 for 2 beers is a bit much. It's fine if you want to, but I wouldn't say that's the norm. This forum generally tips a lot higher than average on most things I think. I tip between $1 and $2 a beer with usually $2 to start.

Also Donny, if you're worried about playing VP, there is also bartop blackjack there too. Rules are obviously deplorable, no doubles, no splits, even money BJ (house edge of ~4.3%), but that's the price you pay for the bar. Also I believe you can get the craft beer comped if you play at the e-table games within the TAG area. I dunno how good the rules on those machines are though.

Well that's kind of what I'm trying to figure out - so you nailed it.

Is it better to buy the drinks or play some VP?

Now I don't care about the pay tables AS LONG AS I'm ahead playing rather than just buying the drinks (same for tipping).

The idea is to try and find some craft beers - as economically (or at least smarty) as possible. And since I'm staying at Flamingo, I was trying to figure out how to work TAG bar in. My understanding is that you can't get those drinks comped on the casino floor.

I've played a bit on different VP trainers and prefer Jacks or better.

My level of correct play is around 95%. But hear guys talking about needing to play perfect strategy.

    Just another follow up question:

How do you make sure that the bar tender sees you put in a $20?

The problem with buying the drinks is they're usually really expensive. It seems like Caesars Entertainment has really jacked up their bar prices recently.

You could put it in as you order. Bartenders are usually pretty good about approaching you as you sit at the bar.

Well, 95% correct isn't the best for JoB, but that number is deceiving. If the 5% you get wrong are often the 2nd best play, then your errors won't be that expensive.

Ideally you would want to your errors to cost you 1% or less in return ("Expected Return Accuracy" > 99%). I just did a 200 hand session with 92% hand accuracy by making errors I would expect people to make and still had an Expected Return Accuracy of 99.37% which is okay for a casual player. A free program that will tell you your errors by the amount of return you lost is "Frugal Video Poker", which can be downloaded from this site.

    http://www.wolfvideopoker.com/FVP.htm

Also for CET bartops, I'd always play Bonus Poker at bartops vs. JoB. Strategy is basically the same and Bonus has a better long term payback at every CET bar.

As for the $20 thing. Just insert your $20 when he's in front of you. Bartenders are pretty damn quick to serve at most places. And if for some reason he quotes you a price because he didn't notice you putting in money in and playing, just kindly remind him that you were planning to play.

I haven't been there, but knowing how much most places on the strip charge for beer I would imagine that cuts the selection quite a bit.
