I am hoping to get a round in when I go and was looking for an idea of the best place to play. Bearing in mind the following points......

    - It will be a weekday in mid september.
-There are two of us (will we have to be paired up)
-won't have the money to pay 500 dollars a man, unless a big win happens!
    -will need to hire clubs.
    -not too far off strip
    - I'm a low handicapper, but playing with a 18-24 handicapper

Any suggestions based on those points?

I just got quotes from MGM concierge for playing mid week in July.

With roundtrip transport (sedan or limo) , and golf I was quoted 119 at Royal Links and 169 at Bali Hai.......rental clubs would probably tack on another 40-50/man.
These are the only two quoted as MGM has a partnership with Walters golf and Shadow Creek is out of my price range.

You may want to double check your dates with some of the courses aerification schedules too.

Thank you I will get some quotes.

The thing I am worried about is picking a duff course. I've seen pictures of shadow creek, which is way too much money but looks spectacular. On the other hand there is las Vegas golf club which I'm guessing is quite cheap, but looks quite poor (I may be wrong here and have just seen poor photos). Basically I'd rather pay a bit more for a picturesque golf club but pay middle of the road prices. Not to much to ask I hope ;)

Check golfnow. If you are looking for something not far from strip and decent but not outrageous, consider Bali Hai, TPC, rio Secco or badlands.

Always state that for some wow factor, and for something different take the hour + drive and do wolf creek in Mesquite. You won't regret!
