I wasn't saying you could get lap dances everywhere (although if there was anywhere you could randomly talk a hot stranger into giving you a lap dance in public, it would be vegas.

But being that the town is filled to capacity with eye candy and titillation, the added value of having a lap dance from said eye candy is lower than it would be in, say, Amish country.

As for the liquor while gambling, if you are going to gamble anyway the liquor is free (my story checks out, I have gambled in casinos that don't comp liquor). If you aren't going to gamble anyway, historically it has not been hard to find a game where your expected loss per drink is lower than the tip you are giving the cocktail waitress.

And beyond that you have drink specials such as those at casino royale. And for me personally I can go out and buy booze at a liquor store cheaper than I could back home (thanks stupid monopolies and taxes!) , and then take a traveller with me just about anywhere.

As for the strip steak vs Ellis Island comparison, yeah it is similar. And a perfectly valid view that several vegas visitors including some friends of mine hold. Not quite the same for me as I occasionally like the pricey strip steak, value ambiance more when I'm eating than when I'm having a naked girl grind on me to 'pay for college', and I don't find the vegas prices out of line with what I'd expect at a celebrity chef's restaurant in other major cities, which would be a 2 hour drive away.

By contrast, the Rhino charges way more than strip clubs I am used to, and I simply do not believe that I would get a better lap dance (or other shows) there than I could at the Sundowner.

Thanks for moving this discussion to its own thread, to avoid hijacking the other one.

You made me laugh when you mentioned the Amish and lap dances!

I totally understand your point of view with respect to perceived value of a service (in this case, a lap dance) when comparing the price you would pay at home versus the price you would pay at the Rhino.
I have two points to make about that. First, the girls at the Rhino in Las Vegas are very attractive, certainly the best in Vegas, and certainly hotter than most local strip clubs. This is because of the close proximity of Vegas to LA and Southern California, where many of the talented "grad students" live, so the talent pool is world class. I invite others to comment on the talent in their local strip clubs compared to Vegas and especially the Rhino.
Second, anytime you travel or eat out, you will never get "value" by your definition, since you don't value ambience. For example, why buy a $1.99 two eggs and toast breakfast special, when you can buy the raw ingredients for 50 cents and make it yourself at home?
When people go out to Vegas, they want to feel special, and $150 for a bottle of vodka with mixers and a table at the Spearmint Rhino is GREAT value, because when you are done getting your lap dances, you get to be in Vegas. By comparison, when you are done at your local strip club in Canada, you are still in Canada!

ok this is the traditional reason for bottle service...not value for drink but Real Estate!
e.g. bottle svc gets you in the VIP room and there are more than one kind of bottle svc option(s) at the Rizz

bottle service isn't about the drink price

I don't value ambience while getting a lapdance. Or at least I don't value ambience beyond simple building and fire code compliance.

As to ambiance, I said I value it more while eating (at a nice restaurant) than I do while getting a lap dance, not that I don't value it.

As to everything being more expensive than cooking for myself, not really since a room with a full kitchen would cost more than I pay, besides I am comparing the prices to eating out at home, not eating in.

As to the level of talent at the Rhino, I certainly believe you. I might even suppose that the bottom 50% in quality at the Rhino is probably far better. But the bottom 50% isn't getting paid for lap dances and the top 10% is likely quite comparable.

As for it being a bargain because when I leave, I'm still in vegas, when I am in vegas and DON'T go to the Rhino, I'm still in vegas. While I would consider meals mandatory to any significant length of Vegas stay, I would rank lap dances as far more optional.

And if I somehow get home from Vegas and think to myself "That trip was really missing a lapdance!", I have options close to home :)

The "Value" is in being a temporary rock star. If you're into this kind of thing it's more fun and you can drag a few friends with you. :)

I agree with this as being great value, I've been to some strip clubs that you can easily drop $300 - $400 and some of the girls walk on all fours and moo occasionally.

Now if I was going to Vegas with a few mates and not my wife and kids.....I'd be buying that $150 entry ticket with a free bottle of vodders pronto !

One more important issue that I forgot mention. Most guys who visit Vegas probably don't want to visit their local strip clubs for fear of being "discovered". Someone might know someone who knows somebody and then the news gets out that they are visiting strip clubs. In Vegas, that is much much less likely to happen.
After all, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.....

Wasn't the original thought here about going at happy hour ,or early, so that it was cheaper? If you go before 6:00 pm you can always get a table , and no cover, and the drinks are $3.50 at Olympic gardens, cheetahs sapphires etc. I was at the rhino once and the drinks were strong and I think $3.50 also, but then after 6:00 they shot WAY up.

I will chime in with my thoughts without getting too deep into it.

Everyone has their own style while in vegas and i admit, im on PT's side regarding table service. Yes, its actually cheaper to get bottle service with a few ppl when costs are broken down and deals that you can get.

I understand if a person only has 2 drinks and that is their limit and alone but if you have 4-5 ppl that have 2-3 drinks, a bottle is honestly the way to go.

Im a person who always gets bottle service at a club or strip club. Its not because of thinking im a vip. Its because i like having space for my guests, being comfortable and having a semi private area for just us.

I do not spend 5-15k for table service unless im having a great time but its all in who you know.

Getting a bottle at rhino for $150 for a table with a couple guys is a deal but it all depends in what you are looking for.

I've noticed people on this board let to put things down before trying them. Examples given below.

    1. I hate buffets in vegas but I have never ate at one.

    2. I hate bottle service at clubs and strips club but I have never done it.

    3. I hate city center but have never gone shopping there.

Now back to the thread, I always enjoy bottle service. I recommend you try it regardless of age. Sure you are paying 5-20x the price of a bottle, but the experience and fun alone is worth it. It's like going to a fancy restaurant to eat. Sure you can cook it at home for a lot cheaper.

It's Vegas, why not splurge. It is the adult Disney land after all

$150 might be the happy hour price but Rhino was charging $600 a bottle after midnight this past weekend.

My thoughts, maybe this is an age thing as I suspect Bronco, PT and myself are older than the original poster. I don't go anywhere in Vegas for the most part without guarantee of a comfortable place to sit. It is just worth it to me. If you add the value and convenience of a bottle to the equation you have some of the very basics of why I vacation. Comfort and convenience, that is where its at for me!

The old saw "don't knock it until you've tried it" doesn't always apply.

You put an unfamiliar gourmet dish in front of someone and they say they hate it without even tasting it, you can quibble.

But lets look at these examples:

(for the record, I have eaten at vegas buffets and they have their place)

First, I don't know that I've heard this that often. Even a lot of the staunchest buffet opposition have been roped in at least once.

But beyond that, there is less than zero chance that the people who have that opinion would change their mind if they ate at a buffet. The value at a buffet derives from variety and from volume. If you don't care for the volume, and you would rather have one thing made to order by a chef than have variety, you don't need to try a buffet to know its not for you.

Since this ties directly in to expense, I again don't think the experience is needed for someone to know its not for them. It is expensive, and if it takes the cost of a night out beyond what someone feels that would be worth, they don't need to try it to think that.

Moreover, the net effect of the trend is also an issue. If one ignores cost, the experience of bottle service is likely better than that of a typical club/strip club visit. But the collateral damage of the bottle service trend at any particular place is that it actually makes the experience WORSE than it was originally. The more people lining up to pay hundreds per bottle, the more square footage will be devoted to them, and the more the place will charge for individual drinks.

Thus not only do I know just from the sticker that I am unlikely to find it worth it (save for the type of "happy hour" bargain described above), but the more people who do, the crappier strip clubs are going to become for those that don't. You wouldn't tell someone who hates 6:5 blackjack that they should try it first.

Even a lot of people who DO like city center would not go shopping there simply because of the general level of the stores (ditto other vegas areas). And a lot of people hate city center because it is a large generic block of glass that could be found in any city, dwarfing the properties next to it, and marring the strip view in general. I don't see how shopping there would change that opinion.

Actually Rhino's "happy hour" is up to 7 pm most days (except maybe on Friday and Saturday when it gets busy earlier in the evening). hmmm, better not mention this a lot because they just might cut it back to 6 pm. BTW OG also has a "happy hour" up to 6 or 7 pm. You get free entry and the drinks are considerably cheaper. Other clubs also have free entry or lower priced drinks during the afternoon and early evenings.

Nevyn, where do you suggest we go in Canada that has good strip clubs? The kind where you can get some "play"? Just wondering.

I usually go to vegas strip clubs because the strip clubs in Honolulu are totally lame. No contact lap dances (basically pay to have the girl dance in front of you for the same price as a contact lap dance in vegas), the girls usually don't take off any clothes until you drop a lot of dollars. While Rhinos and Sapphire probably have the best looking women of all vegas strip clubs I usually like going to the smaller clubs. The hustle isn't as great and I usually can get some fun out in the main showroom for $20 lap dances. My fave used to be Cheetahs but lately their quality and talent has gone down drastically. Cheetahs also used to supply VIP cards that allowed free entry so (since I drive myself) I just pay $10 or $12 for a drink and the rest is for my tipping and lap dances.

Different strokes...... some people don't mind paying for the VIP room and bottle service, others like me just like to "window shop" out in the main area, get a few lap dances and relax and enjoy myself. Some guys don't even want to pay over $10 for a drink that probably cost less than a buck. Luckily I'm not a big drinker (and I don't want to pay $15 for a drink) so I don't drink a lot at the club. yes, with a group of guys bottle service is probably cheaper and you get a little more "special" treatment so it is up to the person/group to decide how they want to spend their money in the club.

6:00 or 7:00, I forget but I know when happy hour ends the drinks go up in price considerably. OG 's happy hour is actually really good, big strong drinks on the cheap and free admission. But you're right about the dancers. I personally prefer the old school strip clubs better..
