The GC has a Fri-Sat for $75 pn but the Orleans doesn't. I'm kind of curious as they usually are quite competitive.

I loved that special. It came in the mail today and it dropped the rates I booked in March by $150. And I don't play much at GC, often not more than to just get a free buffet with an American Casino Guide card.

The Orleans I hit with a bit of nickle play for 2 free nights every six months and arrange it for a Young at Heart Day, so I get a couple free buffets and can listen to the Nite Kings in the Lounge.

Last trip Gold Coast gave me two free nights. Probably fishing for new gamblers.

Putting these back to back makes for a nice stretch of nights with the shuttle going from place to place and allowing luggage. The heated pool is the deal maker.

I have seen very little evidence that the Gold Coast & Orleans are competing head to head in their promotions. In fact they do offer the same promotions together from time to time in direct mailings, and on their website, and the two of them combine with others in the Boyd empire in others. This is particularly true of the Suncoast and Sam's Town.
My wife and I are both Sapphire rated in the Boyd scheme of things, and my points totals are about 50% higher than hers. We spend more at the Orleans than the Gold Coast by a ratio of about 60/40. Both these facilities offer us each two free nights on a regular basis--and these freebies are for any night of the week but subject to availability. Gold Coast give us their offer every two months, Orleans once every 4 months. We both get $10 free slot pay per visit at the Orleans, and I also get a $15 food credit there with mine.
It seems to me that the current philosophies at these locations are driven by their own situations. I think the fact that the Orleans has twice as many rooms has to be a factor. Most everyone will agree that it also has a superior offering in room quality and eating options. The Gold Coast has the advantage of proximity to the Rio & Palms in its favor, and is closer to mid strip.
We rarely gamble anywhere else now on our Vegas trips. Making plans now for a Sept. or Oct. visit--knowing we have 4 comped nights at each location, plus anything else we can work in (slot or video poker tournaments, maybe even a keno one). Only 75 or 80 days to go!

I've had the mailer for a couple of weeks now.
Even Orleans had their Oct offer online.

However, my home casino, MSS, still has not put anything online for October yet, nor have I got any mailers.

I am getting to like GC more and more each visit, and think I will make it my home casino soon.

Last August my wife and I were just passing thru the Gold Coast via their shuttle. We were staying at the Orleans.

All I did was play craps for a 100 dollar buy-in and maybe a hundred or so at quarter VP. My wife did more or less the same. We each got mailers today for 2 free nights each (Thurs. thru Sunday) and $15.00 food credit each.

Not much as far as comps but pretty generous considering what we played. Might consider staying 2 nights there plus 2 nights at the Orleans, then 4 nights at the Cal on our next trip.

    That's a DAMN good offer!
ANd if you're Emerald, then you either go a lot, or stay many days when you go...because to get Emerald on $10k per day, you'd need 25 days per 12-month (rolling) period.
So, do you go often, or stay 2 weeks at a time when you go?

    TIMSPEED...
Last year I went for 2 long weeks, once in April and once in October, and 3 other short trips.
I stay and play at ALL Boyd properties...MSS, Orleans, and Gold Coast.
They get 95% of my gambling budget.
Usually I only go twice a year.

This year I stayed 8 nights in April, with 7 nights @ Boyd properties & one free night @ Red Rock.
I am hoping to go for 5 nights in late October.
My Emerald ends on October 31, but I may be able to retain it, this trip.
If not, I'll get it again next April.
