We'll be on the strip for a couple of days in September. Mostly quarter VP players. Which VP bars are the best for the combination of atmosphere, drinks and pay tables?

Also which VP bars don't comp drinks for quarter players.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi there.

I'm not an expert on the Strip, but tonight my wife and I played at Cosmo's Chandelier Bar at quarters and received comped cocktails. Service was very friendly.

Pay tables weren't great (6/5 BP was what we played) but we had a bit of luck, and at $16/cocktail, you can easily drink your way to +EV.

Also, see the sticky thread in Casino Gaming for a summary of which Strip bars have slightly better pay tables. For example, Bellagio Sports Bar allegedly has 7/5 BP (but we didn't swing by there).

Go to the "Casino Gaming" section of this forum. Look at the sticky topics and check out the VP thread..

    Mike,
    Just as a generalization --
VP bartops and The Strip .........don't mix, well.
Please, check your paytables at the casino bar - bartops ----
alot of the pay tables will make you choke on that first cocktail you ordered.

    On the positive side ---
In a short period of play ..........you never know ?

The Catalyst Bar at the Linq serves Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA on tap with quarter play and has friendly bartenders.

I have had great service a lot of places--seems dependent on bartenders not locale. Wynncore does NOT comp at VP bar. Some bartenders will mention "you need to be making a max bet) but I think they only say this if they think you aren't...I typically am, so even if I bump a bet down when a machine isn't hot, (or my bankroll is going TOO fast) or I just play slower, they never say anything.
Cosmo & LINQ TAG bar have great liquor selections.
Bourbon Room at Venetian paytables were surprisingly good (I want to say 9/6JOB--but maybe I was thrilled to see 8/5). Bartenders very sociable early when it is quieter, still quite good when busy (I wanted to leave to use the restroom right as Rock of Ages got out. Guy was standing behind me & said, no you aren't, I want your seat. I said then I won't leave! Told the bartender & he said--I got this! He told me to cash out then he covered the machine with several layers so no one could get there before he did). Great atmosphere, they play 80s videos the entire time, waitresses do a dance about every hour, lots of fun. Mom found the machines cold then I got on one that WOULD NOT LOSE--FOR HOURS!! Nothing huge,

For atmosphere and BEER:beer: selection Tag Bar in the Linq is fantastic. Bartenders were cool, no pressure to play at the speed of light and roughly 200 different types of beer to try.

Love bond bar and book+stage @ Cosmo. Meh paytables but everything else is great.

Tag bar @ Linq has probably the best casino beer selection in LV.

No problem getting drinks for 25 cent players at either location.

Better paytables available at hard rock, palms, etc., just a short cab ride from the strip.

Any of the bars at Cosmo are great. Tag at the Linq I enjoy especially if you want craft beers. Cromwell bar isn't bad either even thought they have got rid of most of their craft beer lately.

This is my go to. The craft beer selection blows everyone else away. And I have yet to be notified of the paytables being downgraded like the rest of CET on the strip!

My favorite Strip VP bars based on your criteria (and I include people watching as a component of atmosphere):

    1) Whiskey Down at MGM. 9/5 DDB at $0.25 level. Very lively with higher limit BJ tables nearby, updated VP machines (other MGM bartops are ancient) and they comp quality bourbon, whiskey (of course) and scotch.
    2) Bond and Queue Bars at Cosmo. I know Book & Stage is popular on here but every time I go to Cosmo it isn't open. $0.25 8/5 DDB but the best drinks/mixologists on the Strip and unparalleled beautiful people watching at night.
    3) Sports Bar at Bellagio. $0.25 8/5 DDB w/ RF progressive (separate on each machine so check out multiple bartops before playing to find the highest progressive amount). Close to poker room and lots of TVs (of course). Solid drink selection (order a peach belini, trust me). Love Bellagio but the only other VP bar is the Baccarat Bar but it's $1/up. Better people watching there though.
    4) Gaston's Bar at Paris. $0.25 8/5 DDB. Bar nothing special but you can take in the Paris casino in the faux outdoor France design which I still think is kinda cool.
    5) Bourbon Room at Venetian. $0.25 9/5 DDB. 80s music/club at the only playable VP bar at the Venetian. What's not to like?

FYI, #4 (assume you mean Gustav's here) is 7/5 DDB now unless something has changed for the better since late April... :( The only CET strip bar with 8/5 DDB left to my knowledge is TAG Lounge at Linq.

And someone else mentioned about good bartops at Venetian lately. I guess the bourbon room must be the place! I'll add 9/5 DDB to the list for now and definitely will check it out next trip!

You are correct it's Gustav's. Was there first week of June and pretty sure it was 8/5 DDB (I was expecting 7/5 because, you know...CET). If it wasn't then it drops off the list just like Sully's Bar at Bally's (which is a crime that it's 7/5 because that used to be a great bar to play/drink).

Only drawback of Bourbon Room is that it isn't open during the day.
