Table Games Craps play at Local Casinos vs. Vegas.

I don't have gambling where I live (Hawaii) and am curious as to how the craps play is for those of you who do play craps at your local casinos.

Is it any different from what you see played in Vegas?

Are the buy-ins similar, or are they lower (or maybe even higher?)

Are the players friendlier or are they more serious with their play and the results of their play? (In Vegas it seems the players are more happy-go-lucky and friendlier).

How is the relationships with the dealers and box? In Vegas it's a more friendlier and hollow relationship but I wondered how the relations go when the dealers and players see each other daily, weekly, or monthly?

Just wondering. I'd really like to hear your input if you think there is a significant difference between the two!

 

Nothing but card craps here in California. The odds for any particular number are supposed to be the same as a dice game, but I don't know...I'm not much of a craps player, but I would probably prefer playing with dice. Since it is a local casino, yes, dealers and pit are much friendlier if you know them. There are some great dealers in Vegas too, but simply due to the fact I see the local crew more often, the joking and ribbing is always present. Table minimums are probably similar to mins in Vegas, but max is probably lower than Vegas. I want to say local odds here are 3x4x5x, but I am not positive. I also do not recall any Firebet or AS/AT/AtW bets at our locals.

 

I find the dealers more fun and friendlier in Vegas. My local casino has craps, but no hop bets. They do have a fire bet. The players are locals and don't seem to be having as much fun as those vacationing in Vegas. Generally, the craps players at the local casino are buying in smaller than I see in Vegas. My local casino is about an hour drive from my home, but I spend more time in Vegas than I do the 4 or 5 times I go to the local casino.

 

The rules at my local casinos are basically the same as Vegas except for most allow more than 3-4-5x odds. I personally play at a lower level at local casinos versus Vegas. I like to save my bankroll for Vegas. Since I have to drive a few hours to get there I'm usually visiting friends and family first.

 

I find by me there are a lot less people on the line a lot more people playing the props in the middle of the table.

 

At my local Native American casino the table minimums are higher. Most of the players are grumpy because they are gambling with money they shouldn't be. Personnel are grumpy too most of the time. The upside is there are usually quite a few characters at the table it always reminds me of that Chappelle Show episode world series of dice. I dont gamble there anymore. I just save the money I would gamble there and use it in Vegas.

 

I travel a lot for work and have been to many local casinos and make about 3 times a year to Vegas. Craps at local casinos seem to be more serious as players are their because they are betting with this works paycheck. Craps is vegas is much more fun and if you find a crew in Vegas and stick with them for a few days it can be really fun. My last trip to Aria I payed with this one crew for 3 days and they all knew me by name and had my bets down pack, they didn't ask about my bets they just knew. I like craps in Vegas much more.

 

I kind of agree with this. Espcially on week nights... got the worst of looks when I sevened out after like 4 rolls... like I meant to do it!

 

I play craps regularly at my local casino. The odds are the same on cards craps, and the betting amounts seem the same. The dealers are just as friendly as the Vegas dealers and they know me by name (as do the Vegas BJ dealers).

 

Here in Washington State the Indian casinos can have regular craps, same as in Vegas. The smaller "cardroom" casinos can't have any dice games, so no craps there.

Two casinos I go to regularly are Tulalip and Snoqualmie. They're about 30-45 minutes from where I live in Seattle. Tulalip I think has 4 craps tables though I've only seen two open at a time when I've been there, regular size, with 10X odds and usually $5 minimum. The dealers are great and just like Vegas you get a mix of players that are newbies and old-timers, some betting crazy amounts and others just playing $5 pass line. There is one boxman at Tulalip who is a bit surly, but he's fair. Snoqualmie usually has two tables open and they are 3x4x5x odds with $5-$10 minimums. They also pay triple for 12 in the field, unlike Tulalip where they only pay double. Same as Tulalip the dealers have always been friendly and some of them call the numbers and hawk bets entertainingly like they do in Vegas. All in all it's a very similar experience, other than the limits being a less than most Vegas casinos.

 

Local Penn National casino is 15 min from my house.
I stop in 4-5 times a year to meet friends at the sports bar or the steakhouse.
Inevitably I walk by the craps pit and it is usually the same group of surly losers hanging over the table charting numbers and looking miserable.
There is an entirely different vibe in this place than any casino in Las Vegas and it is not positive.

Most players are table minimum and a higher percentage of "Don't pass"players than I see in Vegas or AC.

The dealers and box people are fine.They are slower and less experienced but usually try hard.The game is the same as most Vegas casinos with 3x4x5x odds.

 

Cards craps doesn't seem as fun as when you roll the dice. I wonder why California prohibits dice games.

 

Seems like the local craps players are more "seasoned" and knowledgeable and therefore take the game a bit more seriously.

I like to visit the off-strip local casinos like Red Rock, GVR, Sunset Station, Primm, etc. I noticed that the players would buy in for less than what you would normally see on the Strip or Downtown and usually bet at the minimum levels. They don't stay long either if the dice is not going their way.

I think that this is a good thing to do, they know how to hit and run. Otherwise things can easily get out of hand.

 

Laws like this annoy me. Like what's the logic behind that? What's the difference in dice vs cards that dice alone cannot determine the outcome. Either legalize it the correct way or prohibit it. It's not like skill is somehow introduced and it was argued that it's a game of skill. Was there a religious coalition that was against gambling but for some reason this was an ok compromise?

 

Nah, it goes back to when the state was first joined into USA...in our State Constitution, it says "No games of chance decided by dice, or wheels."....however, the games on are INDIAN land, that is SUPPOSED to be sovereign nations..so I have no fucking clue, LOL.
