It was very important to me to be in my best shape for my Vegas trip which i've been planning for the last 7 months.
actually, Vegas was a very strong motivator and just thinking about my future trip made me push myself harder and harder...
I don't get to be in Vegas very often as there are 7,400 miles between my home and Vegas :)
so for me, a Vegas trip is a very special occasion.

long story short, what do you do to be ready for VEGAS ???

pretty much a low calorie/carbs diet

    1700-1800 cals a day
    80-140gr carbs
    200gr protein
    40-50gr fat

    i'm 5'10
    185lbs

3 times a week HIIT cardio
5-6 times a week weight training

since its the hot season peak and my countdown timer says 18 days to go for my 2, hopefully, crazy weeks in vegas...

I've been working my ass off for this moment and went on a killer 8 months cutting diet...

well here is THEN & NOW pics

If anyone up to a fun HIIT you are more than welcome to join me at the Cosmo fitness center ( july 11th-july 17th ) im pretty much a gym rat so no matter what, i'll end up working out on vacation too... :p

I think there are some here that are into fitness, just not maybe super into it. I stay pretty lean year around, but about a month out before a trip I cut back on my excess junk, sugar, etc and try to amp up the workouts to 6 days a week. I don't carry near the muscle that you do, I do like to stay lean and fit though. Sometimes I workout in LV and sometimes I don't.

I think there are people on here into fitness, but this isn't really a fitness discussion board. I also don't think there is such a thing as a Vegas specific fitness regimen. There are lots of other regimens for Vegas that some members discuss on here (I'm never going to understand the pedialyte obsession, lol)

    Looking good, OH23.

I can understand getting fit for Las Vegas.

I'm in Las Vegas every two weeks and usually eat and drink twice what I normally do. Keeping in shape allows me to splurge while in Las Vegas.

The OP's pre-Vegas diet specs are very similar to mine. I minimize intake of wheat, white rice and sugar. I don't add salt when cooking dishes. I do 4 miles on an elliptical every other day, walk on off days, and do calisthenics. My focus is more on toning and cardio than building muscle.

Doing the above, I've lost 30 lbs in the past year. Now at 6'4" and 205 lbs.

haha, if you guys don't understand the Pedialyte obsession you are either lucky enough to have never needed it or just haven't tried it yet! As one of the Pedialyte pioneers on the boards I am sold and hangover free for years now*. *I did get drunk to the point a time or two that I didn't remember to medicate/hydrate myself.

My pre-Vegas workouts may not be as strenuous as yours but are still as important. A few weeks before our trip we head to the local casino and sit down in front of a slot machine and start playing and ordering cocktails. Each visit we try to increase the amount of time we spend at the slots and our number of cocktails while still trying to maintain our composure and not fall asleep or pass out. When it's time for the trip we then feel we are better prepared to maximize our time gambling. Just kidding of course, just sounded more fun than working out. I actually do work out and try to lose a few pounds before the trip because once I'm there, well.....

My motto is eat right and exercise always, but when I'm on vacation that goes out the door, since I'm not vacationing for most of the year I'm not concerned with an unhealthy lifestyle for a couple weeks each year... For Vegas vacations with all the walking I do my exercise routine doesn't take a major hit...

Cap Ron - 6 workouts is impressive ! doesn't matter if for gaining muscle or trim fat and get lean... props
but we all know that the real fight is the cravings for the carbs while we try to cut the amounts we intake. :licklips:

UKFanatic - i think fitness and well being, overall, is a very major part of our lives. some invest more efforts in training and nutrition and others invest less but are well aware of how they treat their bodies...
i know that this is not a fitness discussion board but as you can see a lot of members here do make changes in nutrition and/or exercise prior to a vegas trip. i was actually aiming for the members that travel to vegas not very often, like myself. hence my excitement and preparations are ( to some extent ) greater.

Bill - MAD PROPS on your -30LBS :nworthy: you probably feel like a new man... i know i did after losing 20Lbs of excess fat.

tldbucs - LOL !!! im also expecting to gain some weight back after splurging in vegas ...

I work out year round so nothing I really do different besides maybe pick up the cardio a bit. The month beforehand I really watch the take out food, soda, and carbs as best I can. Once I get to Vegas, I make it a point the first couple days to be up in the morning at start with some cardio and weights before I hit the pool. As a treat on the final day of my trip I hit the buffet and strap on the ol feedbag!

Horatio - looks like a solid steady plan. in 4 weeks, lowering carbs can really make a difference .
I'm, like you, going to hit the gym for some lifting and cardio in the AM, if not hungover to much

food wise... that's a whole different story ... :evillaugh I'm LETTING LOOSE !!!

p.s.- sorry for any grammar and/or poor vocabulary , English is not my first lang... :rolleyes2:

To prepare for Vegas, I usually focus on cardio and leg workouts (i.e. squats and calf raises) since I know I will be doing a lot of walking and standing at the craps table. I also try to stretch more leading up to the trip since I know I won't be sleeping normally and generally stressing my body with the sensory overload and all. One of these trips, I hope to add some gym time -- since I have to pay the resort fees anyway.

I focus on cardio with long walks, with daily sit-ups, push-ups, and Kegels exercises, starting about 6 weeks before a trip.
I always limit the carbo in my diet, but I do carbo-load the night before the actual trip.
Here I am looking good at a day club pool party!

My pre-Vegas exercise program consists of moving the beer to the basement fridge.

I don't have a specific 'pre-Vegas' routine, it's just a continuation of my usual routine of gym 5x/week for plyo/HIIT/weight training, plus a healthy dose of running usually 3-4 days/week (during extremely hot humid weather I alternate land running with pool running). When one is mature, one's training routine must border on psycho to maintain muscle mass and stamina. I monitor my intake and don't deviate much in Vegas - except for an uptick in tequila and champagne (but not together!). I weigh 103-105 lbs, and gain less than 4 pounds on a typical Vegas trip. I always take running shoes and gym clothes and use the hotel gym at least every other day.

I walk ten miles everyday outside, year long. In June the heat and humidity ramps up noticeably here in Florida. I visit Vegas every July for a week and the 100+ heat, coupled with low humidity, is a breeze compared to Florida. One of the reasons I visit Vegas every July is to actually cool off.

Vegas is definitely conducive to a lot of walking. For the average person my advice would be to incorporate some walking into your daily routine a couple of months before a trip to get those leg muscles stretched and ready. Once in Vegas stay hydrated. As one of the earlier posters posited " if you're already thirsty, it's too late."

Kelly - in my book you are a fitness "psycho"... in a good way :nworthy: that is a very impressive routine, no doubt.
"When one is mature, one's training routine must border on psycho to maintain muscle mass and stamina" I couldn't agree with you more
    especially for women.

Mike - I can somehow relate to the weather you have in Florida so i have an idea that vegas heat actually feels nicer high temps with high humidity. here in Tel aviv we have around 90F with 75%RH...

ten miles every day, year long...WOW
hope you don't mind me asking, but do you work outdoors or this is your after work daily training/aerobic activity ?
