    My Trip Report

First time to be heading to the Reno/Tahoe area. My wife and I are looking forward to exploring both areas. First we will be in Reno staying at Atlantis for two nights before heading down to Tahoe on Tuesday. Have two comped nights at Harvey's in a executive king room there and look forward to the beautiful and cooler area.

I have a small gambling budget this trip of just around 300-400 a day. I will play almost anything but I do love some dice, BJ, and a little bit of JoB mixed in as well.

I will do my best to update on the trip, first time doing one of these with the tapatalk app.

Sitting here at DFW airport about ready to
    roll out.

Have a good trip. I might be in Tahoe on Tuesday as well. Might play in the slot tourney at harrahs on Wednesday morning.

Arrived about 10:45 Reno time. Flight was easy and on time so we headed immediately to Hertz for our rental. Only two brave souls were manning the desk and they plowed through a line of about 20 deep in about 30 minutes. After grabbing our rental we decided to head downtown for a burger. I have heard about the awful awful burger at the little nugget and have wanted to try it.

After walking around downtown for a little bit we decided to try and check at Atlantis. We got to the hotel about 1 pm with only one person in front of us. Got helped in about 2 minutes and had my keys in less than 5 minutes and to my surprise checked us in no problem.

Couple of quick pictures of our room. I purchased the rooms on hotels.com for about 50 bucks a night. Not too bad if you ask me.

    Good luck on your trip!!

How was the AWFUL burger? Heard about it but never tried it.
    Nice room at Altantis!

Will be in Tahoe in two weeks!! My favorite place in the world. Love the cool weather and the beauty of the lake and mountains. My DH loves the VP at Harvey's Mountain Bar and at Harrah's in the HL room.

    Thank you very much!

The awful awful burger was pretty greasy and amazing! So many fries and I am a pretty big boy and take pride in eating but couldn't finish all of the potatoes. It only cost 8 bucks so it was a good start to the trip.

Had an ok VP session at the sports bar watching my Aggies just squeak by TCU in game two of super regionals. Full pay bonus poker at the bar and ended up only about 30 bucks ahead. I have a very near miss with a royal too......still looking for my first ever.

    Have fun and good luck.

The buffet at the Peppermill is good.

The Executive room at Harvey's is pretty nice. Especially the his and hers bathrooms. When you check in at Harvey's, ask for a room not near the elevators. We got a room by the elevators last year and the screeching was awful. Got very little sleep. At checkout the next morning we were told that they were going to be replaced soon. We went back a few months later and just to be on the safe side, we asked for a room down the hall from the elevators.

One of the best deals in Tahoe is the PRIX FIXE menu at Montbleu Casino. It is only on Wed. Thurs. and Sunday nights. Cost is $35 for a 3 course meal. Their lobster bisque is wonderful. DH likes the Salmon, I loved the chicken (filet is okay). For the last course - the pina colada cheesecake is awesome and lava choc. cake is good too.

I play slots and prefer Harrah's but DH prefers VP at Harvey's.

Good luck and I will be following along.

Are you a big fan of Atlantis? If you are getting a comp in Tahoe, I'm sure you could have gotten one at Harrahs Reno as well. Just curious why you opted to pay for a room during first part of trip.

Well my wife really would like a nice spa day. So we kinda of picked our hotel in Reno based upon the spa.

I actually tried to book a room at Harrahs Reno but it would not have been comped because of our stay at Lake Tahoe. I know am a very small fish but that was strange to me. The difference between paying for Harrahs in Reno and Atlantis was about 10 bucks so we just decided to give Atlantis a try since it looked so much nicer than Harrahs Reno even though it was a little more expensive.

Atlantis KILLS Harrahs Reno, so if the price was only $10 more, its a no brainer.
Also, you were unable to get comped at both HLT and Reno because in their system, its considered one market. (so you either take one or the other, similar to saying you can't book Paris, then check out and move over to Ballys, and it still be comped.)
Good luck in Tahoe...if you want a bar with 25c 8/5 bonus poker, look for the Avalanche Bar (first bar you come to when you enter Harvey's from the parking garage skybridge).
Its actually the only place they have 8/5 bp in Tahoe (for 25c, at least)

Jet1085, Have you been to Lake Tahoe before?

If not, can I make a suggestion? Drive from Reno and take Mt Rose Highway 431 to Incline Village then Hwy 28 to US 50.

If you have time drive up the west side of the lake on Hwy 89 to Emerald Bay and then to Tahoe City. The Lake Tahoe dam which feeds the Truckee River (flows through Reno) is pretty cool!

This will be my first trip to Tahoe. We
Will leave sometime tomorrow early afternoon. We will be in no hurry so we will take the scenic route that you mentioned. I will take lots of pictures guys on the way down (or my wife will because I will be behind the wheel lol).

Coming from dallas I love waking up to the views of mountains and an easy Buffett comp :)[IMG]

There are a few parking areas along the way so you can see some great views!

The summit (almost 9,000 feet) is a good spot to stop and there is a AWESOME spot to stop when you first see the lake.

    Enjoy!

Woke up very early this AM (mostly because of the two hour time swing and taking a big nap) and decided to use our vouchers for two free buffets from our VP play from last night but the Buffett did not open until 8 AM. Since we had about 45 minutes to kill we sat down on some slant top VP machines and try our luck at some more bonus poker. Both the wife and I hit quads within the first 20 minutes and we are both now up for the trip :).

Got in Buffett line as soon as it opened and used our vouchers with no problems. The breakfast Buffett I thought was just ok quality wise with a decent selection. Had a carving station for ham, quesadillas, and of course an omelet station. The decor reminded me a little bit of the Fremont Buffett.

Now me and wifey are hitting up the outdoor hotub and the sweet indoor pool. I must say I am very impressed of how well appointed Atlantis is despite not being the biggest of resort.
    [IMG][IMG]

Going to be hitting up the Mill next. I have always wanted to try the fireside lounge in Vegas and just saw they have one in Reno too!

Oh and the table games here have really cheap mins. 3 dollar craps from last night and 3 dollar blackjack (not sure if it paid 3:2 but the 5 dollar table next to it did.)

Traveled to the peppermill yesterday was fun. I would say there casino is much nicer than Atlantis. Nothing against Atlantis but it's like going from Planet Hollywood to Belliagio (probably a bad comparison but I thought the quality was clearly better there.). I have loved Atlantis but the peppermill sports book is gorgeous. One of the Nicest books I have seen and I think it would be on par with some of the best in Vegas. [IMG]

Liked playing at the fireside lounge. They of course had full pay bonus poker. Quickly lost 40 bucks and the wife and I decided to move on.
    [IMG][IMG]

After spending most of the late morning early afternoon at the mill, we ended up heading back to Atlantis because we were dead set on giving their all you can eat sushi bar a try.
    [IMG][IMG]
Thought the sushi was really good and I liked having the ability to try a lot of different things that I had not tried before. The meal came with
Miso soup, salad, edamame, and mint ice cream that was pretty spectacular.

Went downtown for a while and enjoyed the river walk area. Not quite San Antonio but I thought it was nice and I had heard there was actually a lot of panhandlers downtown but I don't think we were approached by anyone for money.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

We visted both Harrahs and club cal Neva while downtown. Would have liked to have explored a little more downtown but the wifey was starting to get tired of walking around so much. I don't like to compare anything to the Las Vegas club but the closest thing to it was the Cal Neva. Everything was really cheap but was just very sad looking. Decided to both Play a little blackjack at Harrahs before we headed back. Sorry no chip porn we mostly broke even from our meager 200 dollar buy in.

I'll have a little more from last night....had an epic roll last and won a shirt for being so amazing at throwing the dice.
