One of the few things I miss when I'm in Vegas is pour-over coffee made with reasonably fresh beans. I'm generally not into espresso beverages, but will choose an Americano over drip from Starbucks, Coffee Bean, etc., just for its relative freshness. Still, it doesn't hit the spot the way that two cups of fresh pour-over coffee does in the morning. Anyone know any places (preferably on the strip) that serve pour-over coffee made with a Hario v60, Chemex, or something similar?

(Just in case, I'm not big on French press.)

You can ask for pour over at Starbucks. I have had it there I the past when they did not have the coffee I wanted brewed.

I've given up on casino coffee. Now I drink baileys and coffee at a vp bar. It's free and baileys. I make pour over at home.

3940 Coffee bar at Delano offers pour over and vacuum pot coffee along with the standards and they have a great Ethiopian as well which is my preferred bean, not over roasted like Starchucks is and enough turnover the beans are kept fresh.

Thanks for that info! Honestly, that might be enough to make me switch from Signature to Delano. I'm also a big fan of Ethiopian, particularly Yirgacheffe.

I'm pretty sure Sambalatte at the Monte Carlo uses Hario. That's probably the best coffee experience you will find on the strip. As others mentioned, most Starbucks offer pour over. Not all baristas will do it and some don't know how to do it properly.

I'll stick with the French Press house blend at SLS's Northside Café.

Much welcome!! I am more of a Harar fan myself for the more intense, spicy flavor but would never turn down Yirgacheffe of course :)

Wow I'm a coffee drinker and have tried several methods and machines and manual devices.

But what is pour over coffee? I might have to try.

I drink one good Americans a day. And hmmm they don't call them americanos in the U.S.? I remember last time in Vegas they didn't know, what it was or wasn't on the menu.

Or was it just my choice of cafe that didn't have them?

    Thanks

I'm not sure what pourover is. However, I bet http://chieticoffee.com/ has it. In 2 weeks, I'm going to get their vacuum-upside down coffee.

Pour over is the first pic on the link you posted (at least the mobile site anyway) !

We make pour over every morning. I am a converted French Press guy. Both make an awesome brew.

I stopped by Sambalatte today and was sad to hear that they weren't doing pour-over. I was thrilled to see that they have Alpha Dominche machines at the shop. These are some of the most powerful and versatile coffee brewers out there (and yes, they're really expensive). Alpha Dominche mixes elements of French press and siphon brewing, but nerds it up with tech. The barista can select all sorts of options -- water temperature, water agitation, extraction time, etc. While the cup of Ethiopian I had was excellent, I got the sense the barista was more adept at espresso drinks than playing around with the options of the Alpha Dominche. Still, it was great to see this machine on the Strip and the coffee was exceptional.

I agree that Starbucks is over roasted. You can get a Pikes, which is less roasted. They also have their "blonde" roast which is very under roasted to me.

I'm going to check out Sambalatte on my trip, thanks for pointing this out.

To my ignorant ass, that picture looks like a drip/filter coffee maker being done by hand. Maybe a teapot thrown in somewhere. LOL

McDonalds or Folgers is just fine with me, too. Consumer Reports gives 8 O'clock 100% Columbian their highest score. Anyplace that doesn't sell their coffee in small, medium, and large sizes is way to fancy for me. I can buy a pound of coffee for what some places charge. It's just for the caffeine anyway!

I just saw an ad the LINQ ran advertising they now have a place inside the Casino doing pour over. I can't recall the name though, I think it was on their Facebook page.

Can't say I have ever had a pour over, The Dunkin Donuts at the Fremont is fine with me.
