    My Trip Report

    rotated_flower.jpg

So, what is the significance of the flower in my trip report? I'll get to that later.

Arrived at 12:15AM after driving for 4 hours with a break in the middle to drop my son off at his Mom's.

I decided that I was going to split this trip up into two days. A 1,000 TC day on Friday and a 2,500 TC day on Saturday.

So, I put in a little time on Friday night and got my 1,000 TC, as most of you know, 1,000 TC days get a 1,000 TC bonus, and 2,500 TC days get a 5,000 TC bonus.

So, my strategy is at 1,000 TC, check what it is costing me, and then make a decision as to continue to 2,500 TC or not. I do not play for 5,000 TC days unless it is an extreme circumstance. To me, there is no advantage for gaming past 2,500 TC.

Friday night was no problem, I wasn't gong to kill myself to get to 2,500. So, I was able to stop at 2:30AM and go to sleep.

No hand pays . . yet. I got a 20 spin bonus on Pompeii on Wonder 4 machine in Harrahs high limit slot pit, but for the most part, I was down, but within budget.

    2_Pompeii_Wonder4.jpg

I woke up at 8:15AM, "fresh" and ready to start my 2,500 TC day. Went downstairs to play Cleopatra II, no luck.

No real "luck" anywhere else. Got a couple of small jackpots on Buffalo Stampede ($540.00), and hit for $800 on a $5 Pink Diamond

    3_buffalo_stampede_rotated.jpg 6_pink_diamond_rotated.jpg

This Pink Diamond handpay was accompanied by small payouts on Wonder 4, but I was still wondering if I was going to get to continue once I hit 1,000 or 1,500 TC.

Sat down at a "Frog Princess" machine about 1PM. Got the bonus, and a hand pay. This almost brought me back even, and I decided to go for 2,500 TC since I was at 1,800 TC after the handpay.

    4_Frog_princess_lg.jpg 5_Frog_princess_sm.jpg

That was almost a mistake, since I never saw anything substantial from that point on. So, once I made 2,500 TC I decided to quit for the day (yeah right) and wait for the event that I had actually come to Reno for.

This was the weekend of the 1,000,000 RC giveaway at Harrahs Reno. You got one entry for showing up, and an additional entry entry for every 15 TC earned.

    Prizes were:

    1st - 275,000 RC ($2750.00 value)
    2nd and 3rd - 100,000 RC
    4th - 6th - 50,000 RC
    7th -21st - 25,000 RC

So if you were picked, you would get at least $250.00 in RC.

There were about 100-150 (I didn't get a good feel for the number of people in attendance, since we were in an oddly shaped area. Also, there was the matter of extra entries. I had about 230 extra entries, but wasn't aware of the format that they were giving out the prizes. This was not a Diamond/Seven Star event. There were lots of "non-players invited.

This is the way that it worked. They had a vase with 21 flowers in it. They called 3 names at a time, and each person picked a flower, which had their prize on it.

So, I was picked 8th, in the third group. I thought, well, at least my losses were shortened by $250. So, by the time I was to pick, they had given out several 25,000 RC awards, and one 50,000 award.

I picked the biggest flower left in the vase. The hostess opened the tag and said to me (over a microphone), what did you come here to win, Mike? I said "anything really."

Yep, that's right. 275,000 RC, worth $2750.00 at CET outlets and shops .

So, it more than covered my losses and I went back to the room to write this trip report. I rode up in the elevator with a group of ladies who were at the drawing, one of the had won, but one of them told me "now we know what you look like . . .".

I have a $95.00 free Play coupon good for tomorrow, but, for the most part, I'm done for this trip.

    Mission accomplished . . .

P.S. I wasn't done. Made $250 on a Ruby Star machine. Hit the bonus on the 3rd spin. Lessened my cash loss.

    Nice trip...but I HATE Harrah's Reno...it's such a dump!
Nice win...and legitimately won too! (Rather than "electronic" drawing)
What does Harrahs Reno give you, as far as free play, for playing so big? (Harrahs Rincon gave me $750 per week for a month, for doing ONE 5000 TC day)

It's been gradually going up. First $60 (times 2), this trip it was 2 x $95, I think that the July offers were bigger. I got to meet my host, and I will send him a gift to acknowledge his "getting me" into the drawing (it was apparently sold out). If I don't see my offers where I think they should be. (based purely on play) We'll have a discussion about FP like I did with my Caesar's Palace host, who treated me really well.

I don't think it's such a dump and the steakhouse is a hidden gem.

OMG!!!! That is awesome!! I remember it wasn't very long ago the you decided to become Diamond and you are tearing it UP!! Congratulations!!

Wow!! I guess you could cash in the rc's for free play too - right?

Since you are so close to Lake Tahoe - have you tried the two CET casinos there. We love TAHOE!!

I agree that Harrah's Reno has a nice little steakhouse.

The "problem" is that there is a 50% discount to convert RCs to Freeplay. I make enough trips to Las Vegas that I'll be eating free meals for the remainder of the year and them some.

The funny thing is, I was actually thinking earlier in the week as to what I would do if I won top prize. My thought at that time is that I would go to each of the CET casinos in Las Vegas and get a logo polo shirt to wear. We'll see in 8 days . . .

Yes, I go to Tahoe as well, but not recently. I have gambled in all of the casinos in Lake Tahoe in my 30+ years of gaming.

I'm saving Tahoe for when I have "company".

At the rate you are getting tier credits with CET - you will be 7 star before you know it - and then you can convert rc's - 1.25 to 1. So for every 62500 rc's you can convert to $500 free play.

    Congratulations Mike!

One nice thing about winning Reward Credits over cash is that you do not get a 1099 and so won't be reported to the IRS.
