    My Trip Report

Here it is, the start of my semi live TR. I could not find a catchy title and do not have any hookers lined up but this trip hopefully will be a fun week filled with little stress. For those that are not into semi live TR I will do a complete report upon return.

Planning: I have not been to Vegas since 2011, I have been wanting to make it a yearly event but life got in the way, finances were not great and so I just never had a chance. In January my oldest son turned 18 and is no longer in school so child support stopped for him (I still pay for twins) and so that gave me some extra money I could save. I decided I had no used that money in 17 years (he lived with me for a year) and so I was going to take some of it and have some fun for once.

I started planning this trip back in Feb or early March. The last few trips I have done in March, I love the weather but being a single parent, I had to plan around when I could have someone care for my son. So, the plan was to book this trip to coincide with him going to his mothers for his summer visit and that is where the dates came. Originally I had booked the trip for 4 nights but I decided to add a night, was back on forth on where I was staying and finally made it happen. Since my son flew to Texas last night, I was able to do a test run of how the mobile boarding passes work (never used one) and test to see if our new luggage would fit carry on (we have the same suit case, and yes it fits).

Flights: Booked Southwest for a total of $456 plus $25 for EB check in. Flying non-stop from CMH-LAS leaving at 740am EST and arriving at 850 PST (assuming on-time departure, last trip I had a 5 hour delay) and with my EB check-in I scored an A22 pass, the flight will be on one of the 800 series aircraft and according the the guy at the gate I spoke with, is a sold out flight. My return flight leaves Vegas Friday at 12noon and arrives back at CMH at 655pm.

Transportation: I have Bell Trans VIP booked to/from the airport, I did not want to have to worry about a taxi long haul plus the price is right at $28 round trip plus tips. I have a car booked for one day from Avis, picking it up at the Aria location and returning it to the Mandalay Bay location. Cost was a bit high in my opinion at $52 with all taxes and fees included, but they were the only one that I found that would not put a deposit hold on my credit card which is a low limit card.

Hotels: I had originally booked two nights at the Flamingo, I stayed there last trip and enjoyed it. That is when a member of this board (you know who you are) offered me a certificate for two free nights at Planet Hollywood. I accepted, she sent it and I booked it no hassle. My last two nights were booked with Myvegas for Mandalay Bay. As for the additional night I added (June 7) I booked and rebooked several times at different properties downtown. I booked GG, Four Queens, El Cortez, The D and finally settled on Downtown Grand which I got for $33 plus resort fees which I will try to have removed at check out. I have no intention of trying the $20 trick, but that is subject to change.

Budget: When I booked this, I budgeted a total of $500 for gambling for all days. That became unrealistic very quickly and I began saving even more. I started to plan for around $2000 for the trip but I ended up having a couple of bills come up and I bought new lens for my camera, that put my spending money at $1300 for the trip, of which I am only going to budget $200 a day so I can plan on bringing some home, that is assuming I am going to lose of course, hopefully I won't totally lose. I do have some free and match plays I will use plus will buy the Wincards as well.

Plans: I made a daily schedule but I am not sure how much of it I will follow. I have a short photoshoot (I am a photographer) planned on Sunday evening and plan on spending the day/night just hanging out around Fremont St. I then will use bus and move to PH on Monday morning. Tues I plan on going to the Valley of Fire. I have a Zumanity ticket for Wed night via My Vegas with a near front row seat. I intend on going atop the Stratosphere and riding the High Roller. Otherwise, I will just be winging it and hope to make it back down to Fremont St one more evening for a few hours.

I plan on providing a ton of photos, hopefully some chip porn but I am not counting on much of that (but ya never know). Between my iPhone 6 and real camera I will take more than a thousand photos I am sure. I will post via Tapatalk and/or my Macbook and will try to do the updates as live as possible. I hope to make it at least informative and fun but in no way will it be written as well as some of the VMB legends.

What you will not find is food photos, I don't understand the need for them. One of these days someone is going to post a food photo, I am going to take a dump and post a photo and be like thats what I ate now looks like LOL.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments, I am open to reading them and will try my best to reply to everyone. If I do not reply to your comments please do not take it personal though.

Next update will come when I hit the airport.

Thanks for part 1 of the TR.

All my visits to Las Vegas ( next one in April 2016 ) have been solo and I've had a ball with no one telling me what to do etc.

I look forward to reading about you hopefully, having a great time!

I think i will be able to get most of my plans done. I have a daily plan on my iPhone but I am not going to stress if I don't get it all.

Thanks. my past trips were 2002, 2005, 2011 and now 2015. I hope to make it a regular thing from here out. The last three trips have been solo.

    Thats what she said, LMAO.

Im going to live it up the best I can with the budget I have. Only dining plans are Wicked Spoon and trying Pizza Rock pizza. Rest will more than likely be foodcourt fare or something.

The pizza rock portions are huge if you go inside. Get it from the take out window and have a seat on the street and you can do it on the cheap!

Sounds like fun. I would either skip Wicked Spoon for the M Resort buffet or better yet do both. Go to the lunch at M before 2:30 and you can "rollover" to the dinner menu-about $22 I think.

More than likely I will do the take out window. I don't eat much in Vegas and a slice or two should be good enough.

I did think about going to the Heart Attack Grill, but I'm up in the air on it.

Blackjack and VP will be the games I go to. I plan on trying FB BJ, as a dealer in a casino, I have dealt it a few times and the time I did it was rare to see someone walk away without being at least even.

I have no plans of going to the M. I will have a car for a day but that day is pretty full plus that is one of the few properties that our parent company owns but does not even give its employees a discount, I can go to any other property show my ID and get 25% off food and beverage.

Everything is packed except for my computer. All I need to do is unplug it and I am ready to go.

740am flight, and I plan on being at CMH by 500am. According to the agent I spoke to yesterday they expect Sunday morning to be busy before 8am and I hate security lines.

I'll be there myself tomorrow about 30 minutes before you! All packed and suitcase at the door ready to go. I won't be doing a live report but I will follow yours. It's been raining here for days and days and I am looking so forward to SUN
