Table Games Mississippi Stud Love!

Anyone a fan of this game? Played it recently and did pretty well. I've read its a volatile game, so I know I got lucky - best hand was betting $10 on ante, got a 10,8. Board turned out to be 8,8,8 ! From an original $10 bet the winning on that hand was a cool $3200 !

I know I'm pretty much sucked in, and will eventually lose it all back lol. It's a fun game though when you're getting good hands ! Something addictive about betting 3x, 3x knowing you're a guaranteed winner/at worst you'll push when you get dealt those pocket pairs 6 and up !

 

Its very volatile. Iv personally taken 3-4000 off a guy before he hit a paying hand, and he was only betting $25. I gone complete rotations (1hr 20min) from break to break and not paid a hand. The game, when you win pays, but it sucks it right back fairly quick.

 

I find at $5 a hand it's a very enjoyable game that can still pay off big if you hit a nice hand. At $10 it's very nerve racking because big losses can pile up quickly. I had one stretch at Harrah's AC, my wife and i stopped in before heading to another hotel only because they offer Miss Stud. It was $10, so we pooled our resources and played. Boom, a pocket pair of kings turned into 3 of a kind, followed by 2 pair, 3 of a kind 2 pair and 2 pair. In 5 hands I won over $800, cashed in and made my way out of the casino. Other times those same five hands have me handing over $150-200.

I was told that it's a very popular game with dealers when they gamble in their off time.

I will tell you I love the game and prefer it over other poker based table games.

 

Love Love Love some Miss Stud. First time I played at the Nugget hit 4 6's on a $10 bet. Really disappointed they dropped it from the Mlife properties. Have been playing long enough now to learn not to chase so much, and just play the "for sure" push/play hands. When the cards are coming you can play for a long time on a little, or I have lost my entire buy-in in a half hour. Never know what you might get. It is by far my favorite game but getting harder to find, and usually only 1 table if you do.

 

Mississippi stud can kiss my ass!! my brother likes to play it so I occasionally will sit down with him and play. the last three times I've played, I have lost my entire buy in without winning or pushing a hand. usual buy in is 300 at a $10 table. I've decided i'll never play it again. he, on the other hand, won over a grand the last two times we played so obviously you can win, just have to catch a big hand.....or any hand in my case.

 

Second time I played Miss Stud. $10 hand. Pocket 9's. Quad 9's for $4k hooked. I had some ups and downs after that. I did hit for $14k with $35 a hand, and pocket 7's, that turned into quads. I am up on Miss stud lifetime. It can get expensive, if you aren't getting lucky though.

 

Love/hate relationship for me. I can see it as a fun game as I've watched others but as soon as I sit the cards act as if they came from the North Pole!! I have lost my original buy in (100 on a $5 table) in under 20 minutes and I don't chase. But it is so darn fun, whatcha gonna do?

Love this game as well. I'm sure the Casinos REALLY love it though, as I am shocked as to how poorly people play this came compared to the relatively easy to learn strategy. The house edge on this game is decent enough for them, but it has to be far great in reality watching people chase flushes and straights with low cards in their hands.

And remember . . . . optimum strategy says always triple your first bet with a pocket pair . . . even a LOW pocket pair. You just never know.

 

I play perfect strategy on this game and I buy in $200-$300 every time I go to casino.
I think I played at least 50 sessions. Never ever had a single time I was up for the session. Never had a hand with 2 pair or better.
Always lost all my buy-in. And I only play the table minimum, most time $5, occasionally $10, never more than that.

 

When your luck runs somewhere between 1 in 410 million (all $10 bets) and 1 in 167 quadrillion (all $5 bets), it's time to quit, call the gaming commission, or both. [emoji33]

This game is terribly swingy. The swingiest game in the house by far. It's standard deviation is double Ultimate Texas Holdem.

 

How do you guys tip in this game?

If you tip say a buck in the ante can you skip 3rd and 4th street, then bet 3x if you finally hit a winning pair on 5th street? That would be pretty cool

 

Some just tip after a nice hand the usual $5 for $100, and more for bigger hands. Others put a dollars behind their 3x bets when their hand makes 6s or better and let the odds take care of the dealer.

 

Love this game.

Its hard to always play perfect strategy...easy to chase.

The house lets this slide? Bit surprised since it's a huge positive move. Maybe because the tips are pooled i guess.

Must be nice to be up. Always seeing one probably gives the house a double digit edge on an ante. I'm just estimating that number though. But since optimal is almost 5% of an ante, it's reasonable. Unless you meant seeing a community card ahead of time. [emoji6]

 

I like Miss Stud, but she does not really like me! I am often a loser at this game, and when I am up, it is only by a little. The most common scenario for me is I lose 15 hands in a row and then I win one hand that brings me 2/3's back...lol. I pretty much figure a bankroll of 100x ante to have a full session playing this game. I do enjoy playing it, but I would enjoy it more if I could just get at least quads once...lol.

 

I love Mississippi Stud and have played it the last several times I went to the casinos. Lost lots of $. I've seen two people win during the time I played. One guy hit quads after being down about 1 grand play $10 ante, walked away with $4 grand. Another time a young woman sat down where I was sitting, I moved because I was getting crappy cards and down $1,000. She bet $40 on the ante and had a no-brainer. Trippled her bet, hit quads. She went on to win with no brainer pairs and trips.

Other than two two mentioned, I have watched people loose thousands, playing correctly. I really don't think quoted house edge odds are correct. If they were, more people would win.
