My wife and I are going to do a 4 day vacation trip to Mystic, CT. We will probably visit the nearby Foxwoods and or Mohegan Casinos. My question is do you get free alcohol while gambling like in Vegas?

Absolutely  although they cut it off from like 1AM to 10AM and you can only get soft drinks those hours.

Both casinos serve alcohol, but the service is not great. No bottles of beer, just small drafts of some generic swill.

4 days in mystic is a long time unless you are just looking to chill. 1 or 2 nights max for me, just got back from there last month and only stayed overnight. We had gone before but went this time and brought my son who is 20 months old and loves fish so took him to aquarium.

Anyways, just make sure you have enough to do if you're staying 4 nights. I guess casino can fill up those days with nothing to do? :)

I prefer Mohegan personally but I think Foxwoods is a bit closer to mystic. Both are fine if you're looking to gamble but Mohegan is closer to a Vegas casino in terms of vibe. Better restaurants as well in my opinion.

I particularly like Mohegan Sun's choice of wine in the poker room. I am sorry that I can't quote the name, but it is very rare to get a decent red wine comped anywhere.
Ironically, I could not get Perrier at the live poker table unless I has some special VIP card. So, I've brought my own seltzer or I've asked for friendly fellow players to order Perrier for me.
Please don't drink and drive. They wait for you. Take a shuttle if you are nearby. Wait a long while to drive if you are not nearby.
If you go to the Mohegan Sun buffet ask for the Facebook special price and if that does not work ask for the Twitter special price. One of those will usually work.
Check the entertainment. Sometimes folks are scalping tickets at very cheap prices. Hang out around the box office and keep your eyes open.
Pass the comedy show. Sometimes they are giving nice coupons there outside the comedy theater.

This would not be for everyone, but I love this place. Pricey, but where do you eat lobster at a marina?

Groton is the frugal choice for most of us for housing, but you do have to go home sober.

I preferred fords lobster vs abbotts. Only been to each once but we waited forever for our food at abbotts and it was just mediocre. I enjoyed the lobster from fords more and also felt a little less touristy.

I drink Maker's in Mohegan's poker room or JW Black...the service there is decent, but they measure all pours, you get 1 oz at best...at least Mohegan gives it to you in glass, its been a long while since i have played Foxwoods, but they (used to at least) serve in plastic cups. Maybe someone has an update on this, it has been quite a long long time.

Thanks all for the information...We are really going for a relaxing type vacation, hence the 3 nights/four days stay. IF we hit the casino, we'd probably try Foxwoods just to see it. I really appreciate the dining recommendations...LOBSTER will be a big part of our trip. :nworthy: Fords looks like a must visit!

Service is not as bad as you make it out to be though I don't ever order beer there.

This looks pretty cool, but I don't think I can eat $91 worth of food. One lobster is plenty.
