I just cant find this answer..

Can I merge emails from the same person. I am getting lets say 50 emails a day. 20 might be back and forth correspondence from the same person. I want those merged? Possible?

I believe that this is called "conversation mode" Look in your gmail settings (cog wheel in upper right hand corner of the screen) and see if conversation mode is turned on.

That's the only thing that I can think of.

Far as I can tell, Gmail groups by topic/subject, not by sender.

So if you receive 3 emails from Victoria, and they all have different subject lines, they will show up as independent emails.

Have you tried creating a Filter?

    Easiest way is do this..

Create a "label" aka folder in Gmail....
Then go and make a filter... saying [email protected] goes to that folder.... its alot easier to do....

Unless you mean literally you want all emails in one thread, which no you cant do....
I do this with someone i do some side business with, and she is always sending me emails, so I created a folder and they all go there all filter there.... its so much easier than clogging up my damn inbox

This is exactly what I was about to say. I have several folders for specific contacts. Another option would be to ask the sender to continue to reply in the same conversation, rather than composing a new email every time.

nope, because the way its sent and handled with email, imap, pop, etc.. it sees the email as a new thread, not existing... impossible to do.. my life would be so much easier at work :)

Are you saying that you want every email from "Victoria" to be merged, no matter what the subject?

If so, help us all understand why you want that? Not saying I am right or wrong, but I just don't get it.

I wonder if he could accomplish this by simply removing the subject every time he replies to Victoria? Or replying and creating a new generic subject like, "Victoria."

All of those with the same subject would merge except for the new Emails that she sends with a new subject.
