Maybe not worthy of its own thread, but there's been some discussion regarding what the remodeled rooms are like. Here are a few photos of our room from last Tuesday night. Very nice, and a huge change from the old ones, which other than the location I really didn't find that much different than the Carson Tower. This one was pool facing, 9th floor.

Thanks for the pics! Nice big TV, lots of space. We have stayed in the Gold Tower before but I don't remember the Kurig. I think they charge for the k-cups, is that correct?

Nice looking room. Was the room quiet?

Thanks for posting the pictures. It's a close call, but I still have to go with the Rush Tower rooms as there was only so much they could do with the tiny bathroom in the Gold Tower, and I like quiet central air vs an AC unit in the room. I know for some the walk from the Rush Tower is a pain, but I think it's worth the walk.

Did they replace the fighter jet sounding bathroom exhaust fans in the renovated rooms with something more quiet?

I loved the Rush tower when i stayed in it and loved the separate check in and total non-smoking building. That would be the selling point for me.

    Candy Apple,

Funny you should ask about it being quiet. It was noisier than we are used to, not from loud people, but from plumbing sounds and even footsteps in the room above us. Nothing too annoying, but a bit surprising. The sort of sounds you'd associated with a newer, cheaper wood-framed chain hotel.

I am pretty sure they told me that the Gold tower was now non smoking too after the renovation. I agree with liking the separate check in for Rush which is right across from the parking when staying in the Rush tower.

The Gold Tower rooms are supposed to be just off the casino floor....but do you have to check in way in the back past the shark pool?

    Candy Apple,

If you mean the main check in area, yes. But it's not way in the back past the shark pool. And if you have a Landry's card you can use VIP check in, which is a nice office on the opposite wall of the main check in area and only a short walk down the hallway from the Gold Tower elevators.

And if anyone is reading this thread who stays (or may stay) at the Golden Nugget and doesn't have a Landry's card, why not? It's a one-time $20 and they give you that in food credit which can be used at several of the Golden Nugget restaurants, plus another $20 credit every year for your birthday month. We got it a few years ago solely for use at the Golden Nugget. There aren't any of their restaurants particularly close to us. We've had at least a 50% success rate getting the free upgrade to the Gold Tower, even when we've booked through sites like Orbitz.

Ok I'm confused. With the Landry's card do you call the Nugget to book the room, or where else.

    lulucob,

We've booked directly with the Nugget and we've booked through third-party sites like Orbitz and Expedia. Getting the upgrade technically requires that you book directly with the Nugget, but even then it's not guaranteed. It's "space available." In practice, we've found that the upgrade depends mostly on who you get at the check-in desk. We've had about the same luck (about 50/50) regardless of who we booked through. Another thing - always ask for their coupons. They have always given them to me when I asked, even when are reservation didn't include them.

I stayed in a Gold Club room at the top of the Gold tower a year and a half ago and can say that they had it decorated in (leftover?) Rush Tower fabrics, couch, etc. but it still had the chunky old tv credenza and old style bathroom. The pics of the remodeled Gold tower reg. rooms look even nicer than the Gold Club room I had. I would hope the Club rooms got the new bathroom redo, carpet, foyer, etc. too...

Gold Tower rooms are great. The Gold Club rooms have an extra TV screen in the bathroom mirror, which I wound up enjoying more than I would have imagined. It was nice to shave the face and head each morning with some entertainment in the bathroom.

The only thing that freaked me out some (especially when my wits were not quite about me) is there was a slight time delay between the TV in the bedroom and the bathroom. The result was, I'd hear the channel broadcast in the bedroom, and then again if I walked into the bathroom. Something like: "In other news today, a man was caught dangling by one leg out of a small town roller coaster..."

    [bald man walks into bathroom]

    then hears...

"...was caught dangling by one leg out of a small town roller coaster."

    Help!!!!!!

Exactly my thoughts, smaller version of the Rush Towers. Room isn't as long, bathroom much smaller, but same styling.
