MyVegas rewards - stop your moaning!!

As someone who has yet to go to vegas and so is using MyVegas for the first time, I thought I'd stick my two pennies worth in.

To me MyVegas is pretty awesome, with the opportunity for free play, shows, food etc. The only thing that I have to do is gamble on pretend slots and blackjack tables for half an hour a day for a couple of months before my trip (and let's be honest we all like a bit of a gamble so that isn't a burden).

Now I understand the prizes/rewards/comps used to be better than they are now, but I'm guessing that they are still getting the 'free rewards' to 'gambling more' ratio right to maximize the profits in the casino (which is why they have the MyVegas game in operation don't forget).

As for people who say they are quitting Myvegas, which I have seen many times on this forum which makes me laugh. Put your toys back in your pram and stop crying, be thankful there was a time when you heavily had the house edge in your favour, but you can still have something for nothing if you stop moaning :Þ

I've been playing since the beginning and have used rewards for the past 4 trips. Sure they were great at the start...the husband and I both got 2 nights in a Mirage Tower Suite for free...4 nights! We loved it so much that we PAID to stay in one this year. For me there is still worth to the game. That being said I play other games on FB also, that don't give me anything of value. As long as they have buffets, food discounts, monorail 2/1 I will continue to play. Heck a dinner buffet for 2 is still a $60 value. I will take my savings anywhere I can find them be it myVegas, LVA, or websites with discount coupons. I guess I can understand those who don't have time or aren't game players on the net giving up and thinking it's a waste of time...if I'm not playing myVegas I will be playing Doubledown Casino which gives me absolutely nothing.

 

I think it helps that I enjoy playing MyVegas, so to get something at the end of it is a bonus!

 

Some folks feel they are entitled to something, just for the fact they put the time in to play a game. I too don't get it. I just played my 410th consecutive day on my iPad. I missed one day around day 100 collecting chips. I primarily use the iPad but did open a Facebook account with the minimum privacy settings, one friend (just one daughter) and played there for a bit. I hate Facebook due to privacy policies.

It's a game. I play it as a game. If I decide to turn my chips in for something free, good for me. If not, whatever. I could care less what prizes are there or not, they are free and free is free!

I'm not bothered by the complaint posts, I just don't read them!

 

I've played from almost the beginning. It has been comical on the myvegas FB groups over time with all the changes. Back when they first started cutting the amount of chip feeds you could collect. I can't remember how many you could get but it was way more than 20,000. Also you could have way more than 3 rewards without purchasing chips. Many were able to finance an entire trip with lodging and food. As they cut back on the rooms available and the food credits the boards were full of drama. Many proudly boasted that they would collect every prize they could and not spend one penny at an mlife property. Between my husband and I we have had some good rewards. In August we have front row tickets to Zarkana, we both have the $50 and $25 free play, I should have enough for an MGM breakfast buffet, BOGO for the Rodizio place at the Mirage, free frozen drink at 32 degrees in MGM, the bogo Monorail for 4 days.

Myvegas got us 4 nights at MGM about 3 years ago and it is our favorite. This time we have five nights with 4 of the 5 nights $39 in a Grand King. We are not high rollers so we don't get free room offers except Luxor. The entire five nights we will be there comes to less than $500 including taxes and resort fee - one of those nights being Saturday. I can't stay at my local Motel 6 for that price.

It is mind boggling what people feel they are entitled to by playing a game for free.

 

I agree that it is odd to complain about something that is free but the changes do mean that MyVegas isn't for everyone now. I have three rewards for this trip and about 500K left to use. As I don't stay at mLife properties and hate Cirque shows, it's tough to use the points. I've stopped playing but log in every now and again so I don't lse the points I have. When they're gone, I won't bother again but it was a great run while it lasted and it is free.

 

The rewards I'm playing for are still on the table, so I'm playing and hoping they're there when the time comes to collect. But if there were no rewards and I'm just playing for fun, it wouldn't be at myVegas. I'm pretty certain it was the opportunity for great free stuff that drew people in, not that it was the most entertaining site with slot games out there. That myVegas has it's own active section at VMB is because of the rewards, not the games.

I don't view it as feeling entitled. The rewards were offered. Many people put in their time and sometimes money to earn them. I understand that they are disappointed if what they were playing for is gone. I'll always be thankful for what I've received from them in the past.

 

I feel like people the people who are upset are those that probably saw the early rewards and thought that this was a great time killer with benifits.
Because these rewards were so good some people decided it was worth it to purchase chips from MyVegas. (in a sense buying the rewards)
Then MyVegas lowered the rewards and some people did not have a chance to "cash out" on the investment.

I could be wrong, and I have never given any facebook game any money.
I can just see how someone might think it was worth it in this case and then got caught.

 

I still perceive myVEGAS as worthwhile for us. We are heading out in June for a 5 night stay at Red Rock. Three nights are fully comped through myVEGAS rewards and the other two are deeply discounted through a marketing offer. Our total hotel bill is just a tad over $100. In addition we have two free tickets to the Beatles Love show at Mirage, bogo dinner buffet at Bellagio, two passes to the Secret Garden, two free lunch buffets at Red Rock and a free slice of cheese cake at Carnegie Deli. I still have almost 200K points to use, just not sure what we want. We have never spent a cent on chips for the game, play has been totally free.

Sure today's rewards are not as lucrative as in the past, but are still free and represent a substantial savings, at least for us. Now if I could only find a free game to get airfare and rental car discounts life would be perfect.

 

I thought there was a change where you could only get one night through MyVegas?

 

That's the Mlife properties, breanna. The Stations casinos are still allowing multiple nights.

Weekend 50% OFF nights, at least at some Stations casinos, do incur the Resorts Fee. Actually, I did not think the weekend deals were much of a bargain. I could book other places (Eastside Cannery is what I chose) for what it cost to pay 50% of the Stations price and not waste the LP's. It would be convenient however, to have five nights in a row in one spot. The weekday deal is really wonderful. That savings by not paying resort fees is really huge just by itself. Red Rock resort fees are $28 a night.
Mlife offers a weekend night for the same $ cost as a weekday, the cost of the resort fee. They are increasingly hard to get, and once bought, sometimes hard to book. I was on the phone 4 and a half hours booking one night at Excalibur. Finally, I called the MyVegas Aria number. They are not busy there. The woman was nice enough to book the Excalibur for me. I bought one other weekend night and the 5 weekdays at $22 plus resort fee. That will be a very convenient stay, and very affordable considering it required no gambling comps whatsoever.

 

While it's not really a bait-and-switch on a (mostly) free game, there have been quite a few rewards which I was building towards, only for those to disappear or skyrocket in price by the time I was able to use them. What happens if a year from now all of the decent room/show prizes are gone, and all that's left are a few small discounts and BOGOs similar to the ones in the free magazines? Would anybody expressing disappointment still be considered ungrateful?

 

My wife and I are cashing in roughly $300 worth of freebies from MyVegas this coming trip. We got even more value from the game last year. We already are MLife fans so it only enhances our stay. We will enjoy it as long as it lasts. It a GAME. I'm quite sure my wife is not getting any freebies for playing Candy Crush.

 

I only found out about the game 6 weeks before our trip 2 years ago, so that year we ended up with a couple of buffet rewards. Last year with both my husband and I playing we received 4 nights at Aria. This year we are not doing any free rooms again, although from our play at NY, NY we are getting our room comped for 2 nights and are getting discounted rooms for our other 2 nights. So far I have redeemed 2 Bellagio buffets, b1g1 3 day pass for the monorail, Foundation room pass and $50 in free play. My husband has $50 dining credit at Camelot steak house and 2 MGM buffets. We will keep playing until there is no more food rewards. Yes the program rewards are less than they were but I still feel they are worth it at this time.

 

It never ceases to amaze me how people don't value their time. This game is not free, it takes hours of work every week...it's understandable that people complain when the value of their time is devalued.

 

This is where I disagree. "Hours of work" yikes. I work 9-5, I sit on the couch and hit a button with my finger for myvegas a few minutes a night. Playing a game is not work.

 

But it depends if you think the prizes were overvalued at the beginning or not I guess. I suppose that's what it comes down to.

I'm not too sure I agree about the hours of work every week, sticking it on auto spin in the background is surely an option if you don't enjoy playing??

If your playing a game for free, you can have no issue if they close the thing down all together. Obviously there is a grey area as people also pay for myvegas. But that is taking it to the extreme and that won't happen any time soon.
