In January 2013, I was forced to stay at Imperial Palace for a last minute work trip. I went during CES week, and Imperial Palace was the only place with room available, it was a nightmare.
I hear great things about the Linq, and that it doesn't resemble the old IP. What should I expect?

I've never stayed there but do enjoy passing through as I enjoy the vibe of the casino. It is much brighter than it used to be.

Last time I was there there was some inside construction and it was soooooooooooooo cold in there even with my trusty casino jacket. It did seem a little brighter but I felt disconnected in there. I don't know why.

You won't recognize the place. New, fresh, hip and modern. I want to give it a go myself.

The only thing that is recognizable it the escalator to Hash House.

What happened to O'Sheas is a tragedy though.

Stayed in the renovated rooms in November. Still small, but redone nicely. The casino redo is also much nicer (love TAG bar!). I do miss the old OSHeas, but like the new.

Do they still have beer pong at O'Sheas? Or in that area?

    Agreed. I loved O'Sheas.

But the rest of the Linq is pretty nice, nothing like the old IP. The only good thing about the IP was the knock out gorgeous cocktail waitresses with the fantastic blue outfits.

The Linq is awesome. The only thing I dislike is how divided the casino is. It seems like it is broken up into 3 or 4 different areas.

If you stay there you get used to it. But yeah, my first day or so there it took me a bit to remember where everything was. But once you do, it's just as easy to navigate as any other casino.

I stayed there back in March. I liked it, but not as much as I was expecting to. Don't expect luxury, but do expect a clean modern room. As long as it is new, it is a better product than Caesar's other mid to low tier properties ie Harrah's, Bally's and Flamingo and a big improvement over IP. In a couple of years, once Caesar's lets it get run down, I will probably go back to avoiding it, but for now, it is definitely a place that consider staying.

I got 4 nights - Thursday - sun for a total of $322 (resort fee and taxes included). Apparently, there was a glitch in the total rewards system and they excepted the really extremely low rates I found.

Have you been in Harrahs, Ballys or Flamingo rooms? While LINQ rooms are the newest remodel, rooms are still very small, the closet really just a rod (no door) & 2 cannot get ready in the bathroom at the same time it is so small. The other 2 all have larger rooms than Linq (especially Ballys--and South Tower Jubilee rooms are very nicely done), and other than Flamingo standard rooms, are as nice or nicer than LINQ (even Harrahs--they are comparable to a Fairfield Inn room). That being said, I would stay in LINQ again.

Now if you are comparing casinos, LINQ is newer, though a bit bland. I like the new O'Sheas remodel a lot--but I did like the old dump. I wish Ballys would redo the casino--I love the high ceilings, but it is bland as well, tho in a dimmer way! (Flamingo always feels like a carnival to me; Harrahs is OK)

Indeed. the Casino is a huge upgrade. For some reason I always liked that upstairs area with those crappy projection TVs, the Burger Bar and that Mexican restaurant that had good food/drinks CHEAP!

Don't know about the rooms, but I love the TAG bar. I also agree with the Bally's comment.Great spot on the strip and bigger rooms, most, if not all, have been redone. I like Bally's casino too. Not sure why, but I do.

Yes, I have stayed in Harrah's premium, Bally's Jubilee, and Flamingo Go rooms, and I would say that the standard LINQ rooms are about on par to these premium rooms at those properties and better than the standard rooms at those properties.
