We stayed in Vegas last August, but not at an mlife property and we didnt even sign up to mlife.

This will probably be our last trip to Vegas for a while as we live in Ireland, so comped rooms / room discounts are not of too much use to us in the future.

This time round we plan on staying at Vdara, and eating and gaming at MGM properties (charge everything to the room, gamble about $200 a day each).

Do you know of getting comps during your stay, or getting money off bill at end of stay instead of future room discounts?

for your purposes forget mlife, only way to get comps during your stay would be to go on a massive winning streak at Aria or Bellagio

Even charging meals and drinks at MGM properties to our room?

Is the Total Rewards better for us then, or should we just not expect anything?!

I would disagree somewhat. $200 a day isn't going to get you much, but if you use an mlife card when you play, you will generate some express comps you can then apply to your bill at checkout. But if you're only gambling $200 a day, don't expect more than a couple bucks in express comps

    Thanks for the help guys.

    A few other Qs...

    1. Do you get points / awards / credit for time sitting at a table (blackjack / roulette)
    2. For example if I go to a table, ask for $100 in chips, play for 30 mins, leave with $100 in chips and cash these out. Then later in the day do the same and leave with $100 in chips, and do it again, does this count as me having gambled $300 even though i've not actually lost any money?

    1. You get Express Credits but no Tier Credits
    2. It really depends on your average bet. That's what the pit boss/casino tracks for your "action".

Aside from what UK said about some EC dollars (like $3?)...
what the casino and hosts are looking for is 4 hrs gambling a day at $xxx avg
plus the casinos really want slot players....they tend to underrate table play since it's so subjective

So $15 blackjack and roulette won't get us too much !

Slots being the machines that are set so the casino always wins (even more so than the potential skill in blackjack).

Does sports betting contribute to mlife too?

What matters is how long you play and how much you are betting. If you play for an hour, you'll get credit for an hour of play at whatever your average bet is. What you buy in for and cash out with is irrelevant for the most part.

I would suggest you and your wife start playing a lot of MyVegas and redeem free food/shows/rooms from there, prior to your next trip.

Are the sports books linked too?

    Thanks for all the responses.

Roulette has a much higher house advantage than blackjack. So your comps should be significantly higher for playing roulette than they will BJ.

Sports betting won't get you much, if anything. Horse bets might though.

If you just want some food comps, one way is to play poker. I don't advocate it, because it can be annoying to the other players, but you can buy-in at a cash game and just take frequent breaks. You can also play super tight and play slow. It's been a long time since I played, but you can probably earn $1.50-$3.00 per hour in comps at the low stakes poker games. I don't know if the Bellagio poker room still does it or not, but you used to be able to ask the floor supervisor for a buffet comp if you played a certain number of hours.

Future offers aren't based on "unused" comps you earn during this trip... instead, for future offers they look at what your play in the past earned in the way of comps and then offer you that because they expect you will play about the same. As an example: if I go to Las Vegas and my play at wherever I am staying earned me about $150 per day worth of comps then the next time I phone in to book a room (or get an email offer) it will work out to roughly $150 per day worth of comps, which if I was staying at Monte Carlo might work out to a free room with $50 per day in resort credit, $200 in free play and some free show tickets, if I was staying at Bellagio it might be a free room, $25 in resort credit and $100 in free play (because the rooms at Bellagio are worth more than the rooms at Monte Carlo - if I went with Excalibur I would probably get more free play and more resort credit because the rooms are so much cheaper and use up less of my daily comp earning potential).

As far as earning comps for a current trip: yes you can earn comps for this trip or if you have comps already you can earn additional comps.

If you are getting comped this trip you have to earn enough to get more than what you are already getting - so if for this trip they are offering you a total of about $500 worth of comps you effectively start with a negative comp balance of -$500 and to get additional comps you have to earn enough to cover the $500 they are already giving you (based on your past play, what they expect of you). That is not unique to MLife, its pretty much how everybody works.

If you aren't getting any comps up front on this trip then anything you earn pretty much goes to comps earned this trip - if you start with no comps your comp balance off the start is $0 so if you earn $200 in comps then at the end of the trip you would have $200 comps that can be applied to your bill.

Now, in your specific case: Vdara is a high end property, expensive rooms and your gambling budget of $200 per day isn't much by comparison.

If you were staying somewhere like Luxor or Excalibur you could probably turn that $200 per day in to some free room nights and food... but at the higher end properties that is very hard to do - its hard to play that through enough to earn enough comps to cover a free room, but you should earn something though it might just be a few lower end meals knocked off your bill.

Getting comps applied to your bill: if you play any of the machines (slots, video poker) you will earn Express Comps. Those can be applied to your bill at an MLife desk or at the front desk when you check out - just let them know that you have some Express Comps you would like applied to your bill.

If you think you might have earned some additional comps, like getting some food or drink knocked off your bill, then you need to go to an MLife booth BEFORE you check out and ask them to review your play for any additional comps or if you go to the Vdara front desk to check out you need to ask them to call casino marketing (even though they don't have a casino they have somebody to call) to check for additional comps.

You should do this anyhow, even if you don't think you earned enough for some extra comps: the worst case scenario here is they will say "sorry, no you did not earn any additional comps"

    @Auggie

I think that covers every question I could ask! Thank you!

I don't plan on playing extra in the hope it would give me a few dollars comp. I'm just going to enjoy my trip & anything knocked off at te end would be a nice bonus!

Sports book at MGM properties won't generate any comps.

To the OP: at the level you are playing at, its not about buyin or how much you leave the table with. The comps is a formula. Average bet x time played x house advantage. Doesn't matter if you make you wagers in ten short sessions throughout the day or one marathon session. If BJ at $15 a hand is your game, you will generate approximately three bucks in express comps for every hour of play.

With $200 a day, you will not get/earn much. Probably not even enough for a buffet from anyplace on the strip. Just not enough theo there for the casino to do much. They will "tempt" you with come back offers which you mentioned you do not need. They already have you there and they want your money, so comps for $200 a day... well....

Playing for an hour at a time should/could generate a small blip. But, ONLY if the PitBoss pays attention and records it all.

By the way, since you are staying at Vdara, the only casino that MIGHT give you anything would be Aria. And, they are among the tighter casinos.

Aria has a video black jack machine with great rules and $5 limits. If you play this with a Mlife card you will earn like video poker one point for every $10. You could get a bunch of points that way. Last summer I stayed at Aria and played some on that machine and some slots. Lost about $200 a day. After my three nights before check out I went to the Mlife desk and they were able to take off all the resort fees. I still had about $18 bucks in express comps for some snacks for the plane.

Now that's the right spirit and mentality!

From your questions it is clear that you don't have much knowledge about the MLife comp system, and since it is so complicated, I suggest you don't try to do anything to chase it. Just do what you want to do, using MLife's player card everywhere you go, and hope for the best outcome as you mentioned when you speak to an MLife rep the night before you check out. Maybe you'll get something, maybe not, or maybe you will hit a nice jackpot and don't give a crap about all of this!

Good luck and enjoy your trip!
