Have you gone to Vegas alone? Do you generally go with others? If so, how did you find it being there by yourself? Likes and dislikes? Things you did differently than when you were with others? Would you do it again?

I ask because I've never done it but am considering it - I've got the Vegas jones but nobody's game. Wife's got an out of town wedding to attend, usual guy gambling partner is also going to elsewhere. I'm fairly gregarious and wonder if I'll get there and feel like the tree falling in the woods with nobody there to hear it. On the other hand, I've had to travel alone for business for years and didn't find that depressing unless the trips were really long. Thanks for any insight.

Yes, most of my trips are solo for the same reasons. I think at this point I prefer the freedom of a solo trip.
Just do it..! Vegas is one of the most solo-friendly places on earth.

Most of my trips have been solo. It's the only way to go. Nap when you want, gamble when/where you want for however long. Last trip I was with my old buddy and a few of his friends. I still did my own thing 80% of that trip without them because we were on different pages (me at a Brooklyn Bowl concert/gambling mid strip, them down clubbing at Cosmo).. we met up for a few breakfasts and craps every day, but then they'd be at the pool/napping while I was at a different casino sweating sports bets playing VP.

Solo, or going with friends who can do seperate things and be cool with it, is the only way to go. Being "forced" to do things that you're not digging and feeling like you're wasting your vacation sucks.

I love going to vegas alone. I can do whatever I want, get up and go to sleep whenever I want, eat where ever I want at any time of the day or night. If I'm in the mood I can sit at a machine (if I'm winning) all night and not have to worry about anyone else. I'm the independent type so rather to my own thing. I got tired of doing the group thing (gotta follow what the SO or the group wants) and would rather go solo.

I think it all depends on you, if you rely a lot on your wife or buddies and not the independent type then solo may not be your thing but if you are independent you will find that going solo you open up a lot of opportunities to do things that just you wanted to do.

Vegas is one of the better places to go solo. Relatively safe to get around and they offer a lot of things for the solo person.

Have done. Would do again. You know vegas; you know yourself. You are really in the best position to answer this for yourself. But I would recommend.

The vast majority of my trips have been solo. Solo trips to LV have been a lot of fun for me because I've been able to go/do/see what I wanted when I wanted to. I've found its very easy to have fun with complete strangers and you can always check the VMB Meetup board and see if you can meet some fellow VMBers. Have a blast!!! :peace:

Not only have i done them...I actually prefer them now.

When I first began my Vegas trips it was always with my girlfriend. We were Vegas Partners in Crime. Well when her visa expired and she had to move back to her country I was worried I'd lost my VPIC. I wasn't sure if I would keep going or not. Most of my buddies aren't Vegas addicts either. Sure they'll do a once a year or once every year and a half trip but none are itching to go at every opportunity. It took me awhile to make that decision to do a solo trip. I finally decided to pull the trigger and I honestly haven't looked back since.

It is intoxicating to be on vacation and do what you want whenever you want. Sure I miss going with my ex and I'd love for her to be able to come back and enjoy trips with me - but since that cannot happen I quite enjoy my solo trips.

When friends do go we will meet up and do things but we don't have a joined at the hips itinerary. They'll do their things and I won't think twice if I don't hear from then for hours and they don't give a rip if I decide to stand at a craps table for five hours. I call them modified solo trips.

But yeah - take the solo plunge and you'll likely enjoy it. The great thing about Vegas is that everyone (well mostly everyone) is in a great mood. I have made countless acquaintances while watching games in the sportsbooks, while playing craps or while eating a meal at a bar. I'll chat up the dealers because most of them also love gambling and talking sports.

    Good luck and have fun!

'Bout to rock one out Dec. 17-20. Free flight on SWA, comped Jubilee Luxury room, and I'm as free as the whims of the ocean.

I just booked a trip for Labor Day Weekend, at this point it is a solo. I recently broke up w my gf and as Rocky said she was my VPIC as well. We had a trip to Jamaica booked for Oct., I float around on some Jamaica message boards and there are some folks that do Jamaica solo, but I wasnt feeling it. I cancelled the Jamaica trip and booked Vegas. I am sure I will be just fine in Vegas. I am also sure there will be some folks from the boards here to meet up with.

    Sorry to hear that, man.

I think you're making the right call though...Jamaica solo I think would be a tad different than Vegas.

I go to Las Vegas twice a month now. About 2/3 of the trips are solo. I like both, with and without companions - they're just different, but all good.

I have only been on one solo trip and didn't enjoy it as much as my annual boys trips or when I have gone with my wife. While you do have the freedom to do what you want on a solo trip, part of what makes Vegas awesome for me is the fun times spent with friends. I enjoy a hot craps table or blackjack table when it is our entire crew who is winning and partying it up. Most of my friends who go are on the same page from what we want out of a Vegas trip so it is relatively easy for us.

My solo trips are my favourite! The trip in July is a family trip ( a first) but next year I'm back to solo. I love the freedom and doing Vegas my way, no comprising!

LOVE my solo trips. Spring trip is with my BF. Fall trip is me, me, me. I eat when I want, sleep when I want, gamble when I want. Go for it!

Go for it, you wont regret it. You can do whatever takes your fancy. Dont have to eat/drink/gamble where you dont want to, just to please someone else. In a word, you can be selfish, with absolutely no consequences whatsoever, I mean how good is that.....

About half my trips are solo, I learned the hard way that if you go with someone make sure they are 'Vegas friendly' - I think most of know what that means!

Ha! I totally hear you on this one. It's the one place I refused to accompany my niece and nephew, sent them there on their own.

I have never been to Vegas solo but admit I find the notion appealling.

good call! I have not been either. I have outgrown the "guy trips", I am currently living the single life, so if it remains that way I am going to give this solo thing a whirl. The allure of doing whatever whenever is very strong! LV has to be the hardest vac to sync schedules!
