Was going to sign-up again for this upcoming season but I received this email from my proxy and am thinking it is not even worth it anymore. I do not have time to try the "satellites" and would register the normal way. Last year had the most entrants ever and it is just going to grow even more. Thinking it is going to become like the wsop with the free entries and amount of ppl. most likely do it again this year to see how it is with even more entrants/structure.

    Proxies email:

    Greetings to one and all.

I am pleased to announce that I am planning to again offer my services to act as a Proxy for the 2015 Westgate Super Contest.

But even bigger and better news --

Within the past couple of days Jay Kornegay of the Westgate Race & Sports Book announced a series of satellite contests that will offer the opportunity to earn free entries into the 2015 Super Contest.

These contests will require the use of an 'app' -- the details of which are discussed in the following links.

I believe the 'app' involved is currently available for iphones with availability for android phones on the immediate horizon (possibly within the next few days).

Details are somewhat sketchy but you might want to check out the following links for further information as to the 'whats, hows and whens' of these satellite contests --

Micah Roberts, a colleague at Gaming Today as well as part of the Linesmakers website, has written the following article discussing the satellites --

Although the Westgate has yet to announce the timetable for accepting entries I anticipate it should be around July 1 as it has been the past few years although I would not be surprised if the date is moved up into June due to an anticipated increased in the number of entries expected for the 2015 season.

I shall send additional information later in the spring as more details are announced.

I look forward to proxying for those of you for whom I have proxied in the past and to those who expressed interest in participating in the contest for the first time or will otherwise need to rely on a proxy to submit your weekly selections.

Please let me know if you have any questions, etc.

In the meantime, enjoy the offseason!

    My response:

    Thnx for the info ****

I was almost 100% sure I was going to sign up again but with more ppl with free entries, i am re-thinking it. Not sure if its a good or bad thing for the contest since last season had the most entrants.

Seems like they are making it like the wsop. Please let me know how many free satellite entries are given etc when more info comes out since it will help my decision.

    Hope all is well.

    His response:

    Hi ***** --

As far as I am aware there will just be the 4 satellite contests described at the Gamblino website.

But depending on the response the Westgate might offer more as the summer approaches but my guess is that they will limit the free entries to just those 4 satellites and the 6 or so that they raffle off during the Super Contest weekend.

I heard rumblings that they may increase the number of positions paid -- 2 years ago they increased the number of pay positions from 20 to 30 but that initial increase occurred when there were maybe 700 or fewer total entries.

I will provide your feedback regarding paying additional places when I visit the Westgate which I do on a fairly regular basis and perhaps if enough people let the Westgate know that the limited prize structure is a deterrent they might be more inclined to increase the number of pay spots.

I'll keep you informed in the coming months of any significant developments as I learn of them.

How do these proxy services work? The super contest is something that has interested me the past couple years but I just haven't looked into it because I live so far away.

You would need to go out to vegas to register for the contest. You hire a proxy, i pay mine $300 and they signup with you. You designate them to put your picks in for you every week.

I dont think satellites would dilute the pool. If its a satellite, I dont think those entries would be free. The money pooled will go into the normal entry fee. Like the WSOP satellites, a simple 10 man satellite would each pay $1,000 (plus a house fee) and the final guy standing would get the $10K for the actual main event.

I've been thinking about doing the Super Contest this year and will need a proxy. Seems to be 2-3 good ones that advertise on the web

Do you recommend your guy and can you pass his information? (PM is ok)
Is your guy a flat rate or does he also take a percentage if you win?

Yes I highly recommend my guy. His fee is $300 flat fee and does not take a percentage but many proxies do. If you would like his contact info, pm me.

    This is great information.

I understand what you mean about the WSOP, but I think it's an entirely different beast. It's not a bad analogy though.

Here's what I think about diluting the Super Contest brand with satellites. There's only 4 free spots given away in total. So, that's only adding an additional four entries to the Super Contest. Sure, the publicity might draw others, but I didn't hear about these satellites until you posted this. And, your proxy is only marketing it to people he knows already play in the Super Contest. So, I don't think they're really marketing it that well to those who aren't already interested in the Super Contest.

The satellites are set up where each contestant starts with a $10k bankroll. One contest is for March Madness, one for the first half of the baseball season, one for NHL playoffs, and the last one for NBA playoffs.

The contestant that ends up with the most money at the end wins the spot in the Super Contest. Seems to me a bit of luck is involved and it's more about money management rather than picking ATS at a high percentage. And, they won't be picking NFL games against the spread.

For another poker analogy, it's more like letting the winner of a Gin-Rummy contest have a crack at $10k buy-in WSOP Hold'Em championship. Both card games, but vastly different.

Just received an email from my proxy about the contest. It will be in two parts since I'm copying and pasting:

Springtime greetings to one and all.

I am sending this email to let you know that I shall again be offering my services as a Proxy for the 2015 SuperContest.

Nothing has been officially announced about the Contest other than the dates of their annual weekend that features a Friday night handicapping seminar and the Saturday golf outing (August 28 & 29).

An official announcement should be forthcoming in the next few weeks with an anticipated date to begin taking entries being July 1. Of course they have no idea as to the number of entries but based on the growth shown over the past 3-4 years I would guess it could approach 2,000. There is an unconfirmed rumor that they may also expand the number of places being paid from the 30 of last year to perhaps 50 this season.

Once the official announcement is made I shall send an email to that effect which will include highlights of any sigtnificant changes.

Although it has not yet been officially announced, the Westgate is expected to begin taking entries starting July 1, 2015. They are in the process of doing some systems conversions and expect to have everything in place to begin taking entries on that date as they have for the past few seasons.

As in past seasons, you will have to appear in person at the Westgate in Las Vegas to sign up for the SuperContest at which time you would appoint a Proxy who will then turn in your weekly selections during the season.

The Westgate has announced that they are holding their annual SuperContest Weekend on August 28 & 29, 2015.

As noted above, there are additional announcements to be made regarding possible changes including the possibility of increasing the number of places that will cash this season, up from the 30 places paid last season.

Each contestant (via Social Security #) is entitled to purchase a maximum of 2 entries which are priced at $1,500.oo each.

If you are interested and/or would like additional information I encourage you to either email me or call me at your convenience so that I can answer any of your questions including providing information as to my Proxy fee a review of how weekly contest correspondence is handled throughout the season and what my deadlines and other requirements are.

I have 3 email addresses that you can use to contact me --
