    My Trip Report

Just returned from a semi-business trip to Sin City with my lovely wife, and we had a blast. I will be breaking this report up into small pieces with accompanying pictures so it is easier to read!

Day 1: Took United from Newark and hung out in the United Lounge while waiting for the flight. Nice lounge but the food was pretty weak! Nice flight and landed about 12:30 pm Vegas time. Met our Presidential limo and went to Caesar's for 4 comped nights in an Octavius Tower King room.

After checking in we were starved, so grabbed lunch at Sushi Roku in the Forum Shops. I love sushi and really like the sushi at this place. A bit on the expensive side though!

Next it was off to the Wynn, where I double booked a room for 2 nights to take advantage of a $750 free play offer. While walking over my wife insisted on getting one of those big sugary frozen margarita drinks on the strip. I tried to warn her, but she insisted and ended up getting pretty tipsy pretty fast! Oh well, that's Vegas.

Upon arrival at the Wynn, I "checked in" (wink wink), had the $750 free play downloaded to my Red Card, and sat down at a $1 Super Times Pay machine. I promptly hit AWK on DDB! What a great way to start the trip, and on free play no less!

I cashed out, met a colleague for a few drinks at Parasol Up, then headed back to Caesar's, where my wife passed out in the room. So, of course, I headed down for some VP. I know the payables at Caesar's are generally bad, but it was interesting to see the many higher-limit machines they had there compared to my home base in Atlantic City, such as Ultimate X at the $2 and $5 level, and 10-hand Double Super Times Pay at the $1 and $2 levels. You NEVER see that in AC.

I ended up giving back most of the 2 grand I won at the Wynn, but then hit this:

After that hit, I decided to look for my favorite game, Super Triple Play, but to my surprise I could not find it at Caesar's! I thought all CET properties had this game. I remembered from my last trip that they had a couple of these machines at Harrah's, so I walked over. I saw that they had removed one of the two machines, so there is only one left now, and some lady was playing it. So I sat down at the next machine and played a little Ultimate X, winning nothing. She finally got up, so I sat down and quickly hit quad 3's w/o kicker for $800, but the machine went cold after that and I ended up losing about $1500, so I called it a night and went back to my room for the night. Btw, there are some weird characters roaming around Harrah's lol.

    Day 2:

After attending a morning conference, I headed to the Venus Pool Club for some sun with my wife. There were some clouds around that day and it was fairly windy, so the pool wasn't packed, which I liked. There was just enough topless eye candy to keep it interesting! Consumed many, many drinks and feasted on crab, shrimp and lobster. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!

My wife and I later met some colleagues for dinner at Bazaar Meat at SLS. First time at SLS, it was kinda cool, but kinda strange also. i can't put my finger on it. Maybe it was the exposed "industrial" pipes and duct work in the ceiling? Anyway, it seemed sort of dead and cold in there, at least that night.

Bazaar Meat was very, very good. I really enjoy Jose Andres restaurants, we've eaten at the Bazaar at the SLS in L.A. and Miami, and also love Jaleo and China Poblano. Started with the foie gras cotton candy, Spanish ham, and octopus, then we shared their specialty, the suckling pig.

After dinner, played some $25/hand blackjack at SLS (3:2, H17) and won $200, then we all headed out to Crazy Horse III for some good clean stripper fun.

    Day 3:

After a late night out, we had to get up around 10 am to get ready to be picked up to go shooting at Pro Gun Club in Boulder City. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you want to shoot some guns and have the time, this place is far better than the indoor shooting places near the Strip.

I shot a Springfield 1911 pistol (powerful!), a Kriss Vector submachine gun (crazy!), an M-4 (smooth and powerful), and a .50 cal Barrett sniper rifle (absolutely nuts!). I was really excited to try the sniper rifle after watching American Sniper on the flight, and it did not disappoint. I am proud to say I hit the target more than 3/4 mile away.

Another great thing about this place is that you can get exploding targets, so you can blow shit up. It really was awesome. Below are a few pics.

On the way back from shooting, we stopped at B&B Burgers & Beer at the Venetian. I love the burgers at this place. The last time I was in Vegas (about a year ago), they had this special burger made from dry aged beef from Carnevino, and it was the best burger I ever had. I was hoping they would have it this time, and they did! The waiter said they only have this special once every four months, and they only offer about a dozen of them per day. He was shocked that I was lucky enough to get the special on two trips in a row, and told everyone in the kitchen, who also couldn't believe it. Anyway, it was just as good as I remembered, accompanied by a very good draught IPA the waiter recommended (forget the name).

Tired from shooting, my wife decided to take a "nap" when we got back to Caesars. Now, I know my wife well enough to know that her "nap" would probably end up taking 7-8 hours or the whole rest of the night, so I figured this would be a good chance to catch up on my gambling.

Headed down to the casino floor and bought in for $300 on a $15 craps table. Started out well, the the table went ice cold and I lost it all.

Then went to play roulette, where my usual numbers are 11, 17. Ended up hitting 11 straight up with $5 on it, so I won $100 back from my lost craps money.

Decided to play some more VP, and was feeling lucky so I figured I would try some the higher denomination machines. Put $1,000 in a Double Super Times Pay machine and started playing 5 lines at the $1 level ($35/spin). I got some good hits and ran it up to over $2,000 without any hand pays. Decided to switch to Ultimate X, playing 3 lines at the $2 level ($60/spin), and I'm glad i did. Within the span of about 45 minutes, I hit for $1,700, $1,600, and $2,500 (dealt straight flush with 2X multipliers on 2 of 3 hands). A few minutes later, I got straights on 2 of 3 hands, so had 8X multipliers on 2 of the 3 next hands. Was dealt a pair of fours (meh), pressed deal, and this happened. Yeah, I think it's safe to say I'll have a winning trip!

After that monster hit, I played off what was left on the machine, then decided to just lock in the win and play some leisurely 3-card poker while sipping neat bourbons. Played for quite a while but hit nothing big on 3-card, and lost my $200. Called it a night and went back to the room.

    Day 4:

In the morning we decided to try the Bacchanal Buffet for brunch. It was the best buffet I've ever had in Vegas, hands down. Unfortunately, I am not a big eater so I was only able to scratch the surface of the many culinary delights on offer before getting full. Below are some pics of the buffet. After stuffing ourselves, we decided a Strip walk was in order, so headed south and visited Bellagio, Cosmo, and Aria. Played a little light slots at each stop and people watched. It was a gorgeous day for walking around.

As full as we still were, we had to share a slice at 5/50 pizza at Aria, and it was delicious. I tried this on my last trip courtesy of MyVegas and raved about it, so my wife wanted to try.

We then had to start heading back to Caesar's because we had Mariah Carey tix (were supposed to see her on 5/13 but she canceled, and I was able to get tix for Saturday).

Went to see Mariah at Caesar's on our last night. I am not the huge fan, but my wife is and she was super excited. The show was actually very good. Obviously, her voice is not what it once was, but it was still pretty damn good. I have a good ear and eye for spotting lip synching, and I will say that she sang live for the vast majority of the show. This was no Britney show.

    Last Day:

Had a 1:30 pm flight back to Newark so not much time to do anything. My wife got up early and went to QUA Spa, and I had a light breakfast from Payard. Went to host office and was able to get $360 in room charges taken off the bill, which was nice. Took limo to LAS and had some snacks and drinks at Centurion Lounge before boarding. Overall, one of the most fun and profitable trips to Vegas I've ever had! Thanks for reading.
