Enough with the pharmacies and souvenir shops already.. Leave downtown as it should be... Casinos. Let the strip have all that garbage.

why they need so many pharmacies in Las Vegas? Too many visitors get sick after drinking?

Pharmacies make more money than casinos.

They can pull in more cash then the hotel sundry shops, and still over charge you for the stuff you buy at home.

I don't think they overcharge at all. A matter of fact I always buy my toiletries in Vegas. Then again, I live in NYC where everything is insanely expensive.

Actually, the way I read the article, "Initial paperwork headed to the City is first asking for permission for the retailer to sell liquor on the premises.", booze will be the primary business of the so-called pharmacy.

Yeah, it might be a "pharmacy", but most serve as minimarts for food, booze, water, souvenirs......I'm surprised they actually have pharmacy counters at all. Though I guess some people might leave their prescriptions at home and could have their MD phone in a new one to get on vacation.....

(and to be honest, I absolutely use them in Vegas - but I don't think we need one everywhere. Then again, I'm not as lazy as I am frugal, so I'm willing to walk to get what I want at a better price :ssst:)

Why don't they just close the casino already. Everything they are doing is meant to kill off the casino anyway. The west area of the hotel is now a souvenir shop, now they want the east area for a pharmacy? Pretty soon you won't be able to see the casino from the FSE, they may as well call the place mermaids 2.

I can understand why they want a CVS there, CVS wants to compete against walgreens located in the neonopolis area so they wanted a foothold in the FSE area.

I hope that the owners sell the place because they are running it to the ground. Hopefully another owner will take care of the place and open it up as an actual casino (something they current owners seem to not want).

But then I wouldn't be surprised if they rent out the towers to boyd if the boyd hotels start filling up (in the future). RIght now the towers are worthless, maybe they should open it up as just a hotel and offer cheap rates. They already started a renovate so they may as well get something for the work they did.

Pioneer Club empty for 20 years, Binions a shell of it's former self, LVC going down the toilet, possible CVS on the corner of Fremont and Main, Downtown.Grand mostly a ghost town... the areas around the casinos might be improving but Fremont Street itself between Main and 4th is going downhill IMHO.

I'm sad to say that I agree completely. I remember (and miss) the downtown I first began frequenting 30 years ago. Then again, I miss the way all of Vegas was back then! If not for the Boyd casinos, I probably wouldn't even go downtown anymore!

Sent from my room in the Orleans.

Boyd Properties, please buy the LVC, build a sky bridge to the Cal, get rid of the souvenir shop, and re-do the LVC casino like the Orleans.

    Thank you very much. :poke:

If I remember right, they had to close the hotel because they found aspestous(sp?) in the rooms. So, it'd cost the owners a lot to redo them.

But, there's a lot they could do for the casino part. The place just seams old, and run down. If they just repainted, that'd be a good start.

I think the asbestos problem is alo holding up Binions as well, along with many other issues. It would be great if these two properties would get their act together.
