A week away from my solo trip and my wife opts to have a yard sale today. So I decide to throw some old music gear out there this morning (some guitars and various preamps that collect dust in favor of newer equipment) before I head out for the day.

Yard sale hadn't even started, and within 5 minutes of bringing this stuff up from the basement, I was up 550.00.

By the end of the day tomorrow I might have an extra 1k added to my bankroll.

Have any of you found creative means to generate some extra cash before your trip?

Nice work and good luck! I've never been too creative with getting extra funds but I have some high end sports cards I think I might start to sell.

Since Christmas I have been doing something called matched betting, which involves backing/laying sports bets to take advantage of free bonuses given by bookmakers. It's been far more profitable than I ever thought it would be, and has allowed me to significantly increase my bankroll for my trip this July.

Not for Vegas, but I was moving and one day I decided to set everything outside in yardsale format, put a listing of what was there in the yard sale section of Craigslist and by the end of the day nearly everything was gone and I was up about $900

I live on a small farm and own another small horse farm. Over the years scrap metal seemed to accumulate for various reasons, I hate to throw anything away! Also I see all these Craigslist adds for people willing to clean up your yard of scrap metal so I figured there must be $$$ in it.

Last week I loaded my trailer up, about half of what I have. Took it to the recycler. Whole amount of time I spent on loading, unloading: 3 hrs.

    Scrap value?

    $14.00

    Hilarious!

I split between my two grand kids... Gotta find Vegas funds elsewhere. Wonder if I can sell my blood from all the cuts I got from the metal?

I save all my spare change and all my one dollar bills. I pay cash for everything except my bills. At the end of each four months before a vegas trip I'll easily have $1k put away. The only downside is going to the bank with $700 or so in one dollar bills to deposit. I do it this way because it's a slow drip method to save up enough to pay for my hotel and a good chunk of my non gaming expenses. FYI, a 1.75 liter bottle of booze holds a little over $300 in quarters.

    Great info, Mike!

My dad does something similar and whenever he mentions that it's about time to take it to the bank, whatever family members are present usually put down a few bucks on who can guess the closest to the actual amount. I'll make sure to buy you a drink with my future winnings if we're ever in Vegas at the same time.

Carve, guess in the neighborhood of $310-$315. If it's like "Let's Make a Deal" where you can't go over I'd keep it to $310. Shake the 1.75 later bottle real good and if you can't put one more quarter in $315 will probably win it for you.

    Good luck!!!!
