    Hi all,

Whats the deal with Tailgating at the Vegas 51's Baseball ground ?
Were gonna watch a game in June, purely for the Atmosphere and so I can cross it off my list of things to do, etc...
But when watching 'Drive-in, Diners and Dives' with Guy Fieri,he goes to tailgating food places outside big games...

So am wondering, is that for big games only, or would u get that on say a normal baseball game night (Monday), and is tailgating where folks are selling food ?

Wisconsin is notorious for our tailgating parties before Brewers, Packers and Badger games, but usually it is people cooking their own food. I've been to a few 51 games and can't say I've ever seen tailgaters there, or outdoor vendors selling food. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but I've never seen it, at least on the side of the parking lot we usually park.

Yeah this doesn't surprise me at all. It's minor league baseball!

I would guess a better tailgate experience would be at an UNLV football game.

And generally speaking, joe is right, having vendors in the parking lot is pretty uncommon everywhere. Most people cook their own food, drink their own drinks.

    Forget it....before + after.
The drunks hangin' out after the game attract attention.
BTW - beers _+ food inside can be relatively cheap depending on the game.

Do people even tailgate at baseball games? You would be better off visiting a city with an NFL or a big NCAA football team, unless they tailgate at UNLV football games.

I've not seen tailgating at 51's games and have been to a few of them. It's just not the kind of atmosphere you get at an NFL or major college football game.

The discussion is about 51 games. But to ask the question if people tailgate at baseball games seems kind of naive. Don't they tailgate at Cubs & White Sox games?

It is a tradition to tailgate before a Milwaukee Brewers game. People are in the parking lot 2 hours before the first pitch. Hell, some never make in to see the game.:drunk:

Sox games has a decent tailgating scene.. not on the level of football of course, I think you get two hours as well at the Cell.

The Cubs do not have parking lots near the stadium....so no tailgating there.

We went to a 51's game on May 2 this year, and saw absolutely no signs of any tailgating. Parking in lines in asphalt parking lots doesn't lend itself to tailgating. We had two grand kids with us and enjoyed the game - not sure where you'd try to barbecue anything. I've tailgated at football games from high school on up, but never really heard of tailgating at a baseball game.

Since tailgating is a football tradition, I don't think it's naive to wonder why someone would think to do it at a minor league baseball game. In Chicago, if I went to a baseball game, I would take the train there. As stated, there's no parking at Wrigley and at the Cell the CTA and Metra both drop you virtually at the front gate. If people do it at the Sox games, I haven't been in a position to see it.

They do it at Sox games. Not nearly as much as football, but some do it. We typically drive there; good amount of parking at US Cellular if you're willin' to pay ($20ish).

We Sconnies will tailgate at any event. Baseball, football, hell we've even tailgated at a high school basketball game in January here in WI. Grilling knows no season here, nor associated event!

Not to mention Jimmy B at Alpine!
