To earn comps, does amount matter more than time or vice-versa?

I have a hypothetical question, and was hoping someone could help me.

Let's say you have a bankroll of 10 grand.

SCENARIO 1: You get 10 $1,000 chips and play BJ. You ebb and flow and so forth, but you run out. So let's say you played 30 hands, and therefore you risked $30,000. You time of play was only like 15 minutes, because you were by yourself at a high limit table.

SCENARIO 2: You get a ton of $100 chips and play at that level. You also wind up risking the same amount in the end--30 thousand bucks--but you played for HOURS (at one tenth the rate, $100 per hand instead of $1,000 per hand).

Would you expect your comps to be different in one scenario vs. the other? In other words, does it matter if you risk 30k in larger amounts but flame out quickly, or play 300 hands at $100 each?

(I realize that this doesn't include double downs, splits, variations in wagers, etc. I was just trying to keep the math simple for the sake of the example.)

Avg x hours is what matters.

    A high avg means nothing.

A high loss however always makes bet + time meaningless.

I'll take a stab at this...

Scerario 1, you would be rated at an average bet of $1000 for 15 min and a total loss of $10k.

Scenario 2: you would be rated at an average bet of $100 for X amount of hours, and a loss of $10k.

In both cases your actual loss is most likely greater than your Theo, so you would probably be comped off your actual. I believe they generally give you about 10% of actual in comps, when they use your actual loss.

Some strip casinos will comp up to 30% of your actual losses. Every place is different.

    For Table Games:
1.) Time on Game (Longer better)
    2.) Amount wagered (Higher better)
    3.) Amount lost (More better)

    Priorities in that order.

I would be careful with this statement, I have not heard anywhere that will comp 30% actual. 30% Theo is the more likely the answer, although my Mirage host tried to juice me by stating she can do up to 25% of my theo.....

My host has always told me 30% of theo OR 10% of actual. My room/suite isn't in the 30%, so it is probably closer to 40%.

Are you sure they don't count your room when they look at your play after a trip for discretionary?

Well, to be honest, I'm not 100% sure. My host always takes care of my entire bill. I do know my theo numbers every trip. Sometimes my room charges are smallish, and sometimes fairly high (definitely more than 30% of theo). My host may look at my charges and room cost "over the long run", where in aggregate they are averaged to be 30%.
Also, usually I don't care about having a suite. If I'm there on my own, I'll take a Resort Vista or Strip Suite and the value is lower. If I'm in Vegas with a larger group, I'll get a Pan or Boulevard suite.

Pretty sure room counts first under discretionary.
If you are in a $600/night suite instead of a $175/night room you will get fewer backend comps.

i know it's mostly about theo, but if your play is somewhat at the border line between expected comp and over-comped, the hosts (in my experience) usually prefers to see longer play time given the same amount of theo

on the flip side, I think some casino offers are not based on your actual play history, but what your "potential" is as a player. e.g. you pass through a casino to do a single bacc shoe at $300 avg bet. Sure it's only 1 hour worth of play, but the algorithm may see you as having potential of being a 4 hr/day x $300 type player if you stayed at their property, and they can "steal" those 3 hours away from whichever other property you're staying at currently.

I don't believe that CET works like that. Offers are based on ADT (or market based ....eg. all of Vegas, not just your home property in Vegas). It takes a few months to catch up and be reflected in offers. Your trip theo drives the comps for the trip. ADT drives offers.

If your theory were correct, when someone applies for a LOC and they show $2 million in their account, their offers should increase........it doesn't.
The casino doesn't care so much about what you have, it's what you put into play.

I wasn't referring to CET, which seems too methodical. I've had offers from V/P and some Mlife properties that this would be the only plausible explanation.

Played a shoe and a half at $200/bet at Palazzo salon, then few weeks later got promo for 3 nights comped. There's no way my theo within those 2 hours of play was anywhere near "3 night comp" level.

The annoying thing about V/P is that they really want you through the door, but once you're in, they're super stingy with back-end comp of anything. The even yuckier part is that table play does NOT count towards their elite tiers at all.

I agree with Superpocky, I don't think the 30% statement is true.

To me, it's based on time at the table. I've taken $400 and have gone to Paris/Flamingo and gotten drunk for 3 hours and played at a $5 table (craps). Surprisingly, I walked away with $500, and a $75 comp. I was playing 2x odds, and the $5 minimum. Hardly any $ at all.

When I log into TR, I'm only going to Vegas or NOLA if I can get a comp or a near-comp (like Thursday comped, Friday comped, Saturday 59 bucks). So I'm trying to see what will result in the great method of earning tier credits (and I guess rewards credits).

When you get comps at the END of a trip, they are tied closer to theo/adt. Up front offers are not tied as much as they are are a "gamble" by the casino you will play at a certain level to make it worth their while. Theo/adt is one factor of course, but remember, they sometimes offer rooms to folks that have played little or nothing.
