Can anyone confirm this? I've read 2 random posts today (no official sources and we all know that everything we read on the internet is true) that stated Circus Circus will only allow people showing a room key on to the property this weekend. Seems unbelievable but the fight seems to have driven the town crazy....

That sounds like a logistical nightmare.

Its happening at other MGM properties so I wouldn't put it past them.

Where you can't even come in and gamble if you're not a guest? It seems logistically like a nightmare like The Cooler said. What other properties are doing this?

I am not sure if they can find a way around this but one site I found describes the rules as saying that gambling areas have to be open to the public:

"e) To ensure that gaming is conducted honestly, competitively and free of criminal and corruptive elements, all gaming establishments in this state must remain open to the general public and the access of the general public to gaming activities must not be restricted in any manner except as provided by the legislature."

    http://www.gambling-law-us.com/State-Laws/Nevada/

From everything I have read or seen, it seems like it would be against the rules to deny public access to a gaming facility, but there could always be some way around it that I have not heard about...

I have not read all this (nor do I intend to) but more specifics might be located here:

The Mgm is placing some restrictions at their hotel during certain hours. The national guard is being called in to assist police. They couldn't get enough extra police from bordering cities to help out during the event. This should tell you they are expecting some problems.

Hmm...but to be fair, if you are in Circus Circus and you're not staying there, they probably think that's suspicious during any time, much less during the fight :) . Not many legitimate reasons to go there unless you've been sentenced to stay there.

As sad as many people think that place is. It really has some good machines. VP wise there are some positive or close to positive plays still left there and the slots definitely pay some jackpots. More than I see at other places.

    Funny!

I really want to try and get down there next week. With the closing of the Riv, I was reminded that I haven't really spent much time in Circus Circus and even though it's supposedly not going anywhere I want to see it again just in case. It might be a couple of years before I get back to Vegas after this trip. I used to play at slots of fun at their out door craps table a lot but only wandered into Circus a couple of times.

I was vetoed pretty quickly last year when I was going with a friend who really wanted to stay on the strip after proposing circus. He ended up having to cancel so my other friend and I ended up downtown where I really prefer to be.

I'll also be stopping in there Monday after I stop at the Riv. CC originally charged an admission (Sarno said because of the circus acts). Cabbies were incensed (back then a lot of cab fares were paid with chips and cabbies were angry they had to pay a fee to go in and cash in their chips) and eventually Sarno dropped the charge.

I just read the new Sarno book which has really bolstered my interest in the place. Some crazy descions were made like the admission and the slide to get in. Great book if anyone wants to know the history of CC and Ceasers.

I read Super Casino, it tells a lot of Sarno's story and the history of Circus Circus, Caesars, and Luxor.

Super Casino was one of my favorite books on Las Vegas. It's been several years since I read it. I need to go through it again. The Sarno book of course has a lot more on Jay personally but obviously a big aspect of his life was the Las Vegas years.

Super Casino is great but I really enjoyed Grandissimo: The First Emperor of Las Vegas: How Jay Sarno Won a Casino Empire, Lost It, and Inspired Modern Las Vegas, It does get into his earlier days before Vegas but the story of Caesars and CC is fun to read.

They also have 9/6 Bonus Deluxe at your preferred quarter level, the only offering of this game on the Strip (well at least north of South Point).

I play $0.50 Aces and Eights at Circus Circus, which I believe is 100.21% + (not including the RF and SRF progressives) playing JOB strategy. Aces & Eights and the Steakhouse are two reasons to go to Circus Circus. Their remodeled casino tower rooms are nice as well.
