I know selection is limited, but do you have
A personal favorite spot to grab a drink in
    A Caribbean/island backdrop themed place
    Outside of choosing Margaritaville?

    If you walk outside Margaritaville.....

Turn left and walk about 5 feet.
Turn around and walk about 5 feet.
    Go in the door.

I hate being that guy, and know you said "on the strip", but Frankie's Tiki Room is legit. It's the perfect combo of local dive joint and tiki lounge; dim lighting, gaudy decor, and best of all, the drinks are incredble.

It's maybe a 5 minute cab ride from the strip and worth every penny.

Can I drive to Frankie's and just have 1 or 2 drinks or should I cab it and indulge like it's Vegas?

    Definitely the latter.

Those are some powerful cocktails. Two would probably put you squarely in the "you shouldn't be driving" category.

Frankie's sound like the place. Had read about
It and now you're confirming that.
Which side of the strip should we be on
    For quickest cab ride?

You might be better off asking that question in the getting there/getting around sub-forum, but if I had to guess I'd say the difference was mostly negligible.

Frankie's is fairly close to downtown and Fremont St, so you should be going northbound. You can't get a cab on the street though, only from one of the hotels. Its illegal to be picked up or dropped off on Las Vegas Blvd.

Note that Frankie's doesn't have food. There's a Wendy's across the street though.

Kahunaville inside Treasure Island is not half bad. Good drink specials everyday! Oxygen bar to keep you going.

Will Frankie's comp any of their drinks if you are playing?

They will comp beers and such IIRC, not the tiki drinks. But why would you go to a Tiki bar if you're not ordering Tiki drinks?

Maybe it's illegal but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

If you want to stand there like an idiot on Las Vegas Blvd with your hand up while cab after cab passes you, then feel free. Or you can walk into the nearest casino's cab stand.

Our first time at Frankies was with my wife and another couple....4:00 in the afternoon..when you walk in the door its pitch black...thank god for the glow of video poker...we grabbed 4 seats at the bar and ordered a drink and walked around the place. Saw a buffet of tropic type food..helped ourselves..thought it was really good and asked the bartender for a menu.."we don't serve food"...."whose food did we just eat?".."I have no idea."....Great drinks and jukebox!
