If anyone is coming to town for the fight and paid a silly price for a room you should cancel and go to hotwire.com and book via them. Choose 5 star north strip and you will see 3 options all for ~$250-$275 a night. These three rooms are Trump, Wynn/Encore, and Venitian.

They do this because they have excess room inventory and they don't want to lower the published rates too much because if they do, 100s of people will re-book under the lower rate defeating the purpose of trying to fill the excess rooms.

Yeah I went from having few comps at CET that weekend to now having comps at almost every property again like normal.

Your definition of "very cheap" differs from mine. I guess those rates are very cheap when there is a super fight in town.

    They are.

Silverton still has rooms for 200 a night on Fri./sat on their own website. And they were cheaper a few days ago.

That's typical of a fight weekend. Prices get jacked big time at first and then go down near the date. Some casinos have s 72 hours cancellation policy though so it pays to be aware of that before you cancel and rebook :)

those rates are cheap any weekend at Wynn or Venitian. For this weekend they are 70-75% off listed rates.

You mean the normal weekend rate is $700 a night?
Hard to believe but makes no difference to me-I go midweek always. Those prices are absurd.

No. He's saying that those rates are cheap (or at least, reasonable, IMO) for any weekend at Wynncore or V/P but they are 70-75% off what the rack rate for rooms on the "Fight of the Century" weekend are listed at.

Actually many news sites are saying that there was overhype of the fight and hotels jacked up their rates because of the big hype. Prices for the fight was astronomical, scalpers were scooping them up in order to make a big profit. Didn't help that they released the tickets so late, many people weren't guaranteed a ticket so they didn't go to vegas since they might not have gotten a ticket.

Now that the fight is tomorrow many hotels are finding that their rooms aren't sold out because of their astronomical rates so they have to drop prices to bring in guests. Prices are still above normal for many hotels (El Cortez at $133 a night for Friday, Sat and Sunday?) but if you want to be there you still may be able to get more discounts on your stay. At least comped rooms are more available compared to a week or two ago but it may already be too late for many, esp if they paid for their rooms and the hotels have a cancellation policy.

GF told me there have been more cancellations than usual at the hotel. Definitely affects price.
