    My Trip Report

This will be a pretty short summary of the past weekend’s trip to Vegas. Most of the time was a complete blur and my liver is still hurting two days after returning home.
    - Left Thursday at around noon and get stuck behind an accident out of Maricopa on the 347. Took an hour to get through (we hope the people were OK) and then finally on our way to Vegas. Traffic was light and we pulled up to the Plaza valet around 6:30pm.
    - The Plaza valet is on the south side of the casino and a pretty long walk to the registration desk.
    - We were comped upfront 4 nights through an email exchange with Curtis who is the Plaza host. He had a certain expectation of daily coin-in which was easily attainable after a few hours of playing each day.
    - The registration went smoothly and we were given a room in the north tower with a great view down Fremont. The room was larger than I expected, the bed was comfy and although the bathroom is small was fine as well.
    - Plans for Thur were to play on Fremont St. We played and lost at Golden Gate, 4 Queens bar right next to the crazies, Binion’s on some slots and closed the night back at the Plaza Omaha bar while be entertained to some 70s boogie nights group. We didn’t hit anything worthwhile and were down maybe $300 for the night.
    - On Friday, the plan was to gamble heavily at Plaza as they had 10x points on slots. Started the morning once again at Omaha’s and in the afternoon played slots. I had my best run where I took $20 on full-pay JOB from $20 to $140. The wife was hitting the slots pretty good and before long was max betting for a few hours and really piling up the points. For supper we went to the California Market Street Café for the Prime Rib which was an awesome meal for $10 each. Lots of people were getting the Oxtail Stew and we were very close to giving it a try ... maybe next time. Went back to the Plaza and passed out at 7pm, I awoke at 1am & gave a brief thought to going down but, my head hit the pillow for good. Overall maybe up $200 for the day.
    - On Saturday, the plan was to give the D some heavy play at the Vue bar with the ACG $5 free play for 50 pts coupon which is 1% free play. Played at the Vue and my wife hit 4 deuces for $250 and the progressive straight flush for ~$100 … I meanwhile lost and lost. We ended with $35 in free play which I cycled through a slot for only $20. We really have enjoyed the Vue bar in the past but, they really have gotten stingy on their comped drinks. First my wife wanted a dirty martini and the bartenders gives some BS about ithey can only comp up a martini glass half way and then I took a quick break and the bartender would not comp me a beer unless I had money in the machine. This is after playing extremely fast and full bet the entire time. To my left and right were people betting a single quarter and scamming beers and this guy did not say a word to them. We used to really like the vibe of that bar but, not so anymore. After that we went back to the Plaza and played for the rest of the night, mainly at the Omaha bar and lost and lost. Ended down the day by a few hundred.
    - On Sunday, we once again played at the Omaha Bar and met up with our host Curtis. We easily met the coin-in expectation and he comped us 4 nights in July for my wife’s birthday trip and a dinner for two at Oscar’s. My wife decided to do a solo adventure at Oscar’s and had a nice steak dinner while I opted for HHAG where I had the biggest chicken pot pie in the world. Ended the day down a few hundred again.
    - On Monday, we packed and left around 10:30am and made it home around 5pm. I just hate that drive after several days of constant.
Final thoughts, we were very satisfied with the Plaza rooms, casino and Curtis. The bartenders were extremely attentive and the food options were diversified and all good. We can't wait to going back in July for the big birthday bash.

How much coin-in does it take to get 4 nights comped along with dinner for two at Oscar's?

    Thanks for the TR.

Good question. On a up front, 4 day comp in Feb we easily gave them 10k per day in coin-in and Curtis did comp us our dinner at Oscar's, but no offers in the mail. The OP doesn't sound like they were high rolling, so I also wonder what the minimum coin-in that is required.

It may vary by person but, the minimum requirement was $500-$1000 per day for the room comp. I am not exactly sure what we did (sorry very foggy) but, we ran quite a bit through slots in addition to the video poker.

    You're talking about Theo right?
If they had a "generous" setting on their "decent" video poker (8/5 BP, 9/6 JoB) of 2%, that'd still be like $40k coin-in per day...
However, that could be ACTUAL loss...but no WAY is that simply coin-in...because $1000 coin-in can be one in like 1 hour easily.

I'm sure that's coin in, you have to understand the Plaza is desperate for customers(plus the rooms are dirt cheap),for 40K they'd probably name the showroom after you .By the way, I think at the el-cortez you can get a comped room for about 2k coin in(midweek).

Hi Timspeed, Sorry I should have said points. The VP is $3 per point while the slots are $1 per point. Still pretty easily obtained after an hr or two of play.

    Nice report!

Sucks about the Vue bar attitude. But I'm sure they don't want surveillance to be on their ass. Did you shove a $20 in, play one hand, get your drink, and leave? Or just leave?

I played the 8/5 bonus progressive at the Vue bar briefly on sunday. 5s thru kings was at about $41. Straight flush was triple digits. Yum. Unfortunately, I didn't hit any of the progressives.

Actually played about 2 hrs max bet, cashed out went to the bathroom and was watching my wife play for maybe 3 min and was hit with you need to play for a comp'd beer. I know it is not the bartender's fault but, is their policy but, the bartenders should know who is scamming and who is not. So, I put in another hundy and proceeded to play for a while. We got much less scrutiny at the Plaza.

Those progressives at the Vue are really nice and I've hit the straight flush before for ~~190 and I've seen it on occasion over $200.

I've received mailers from Plaza that required 300 points ($900) per day for a free room comp.
